V. Sattui Winery has really gone down hill recently while their prices have become quite high. Their wine has become barely palatable over the last several years, while other Napa wineries have consistently made great wine. The staff is rude and the not helpful. There really are much nicer wineries to spend you cash. The place is a looser.

Other than some specialty wines like a Gamay Rouge, there really is not a whole lot of value here. Not quite sure why this place has received so much love but it must be because no one has actually visited a decent winery in Napa.Yes the grounds are spacious and pretty. Yes the tasting room is expansive with lots of gifts. Yes they have some interesting wines or blends. Not a whole lot of positive. So here come the negative. The place is always crowded and we are talking tour bus crowded which I will not hold against them, but staff accordingly. The gift shop carries some of the weirdest most non-wine related things (dragons?) ever. Deli is way over-priced and there was not a drinkable red wine in any of their selections, oh and the older gentleman (that is being way too kind by the way) who poured for us acted like he just woke up and found out the confederacy lost the war. Just not impressed with this place when there are just so many much better options out there,

V. Sattui has my FAVORITE wines in the Napa Valley! Love their Gamay Rouge, Muscat, Riesling and Madeira. I didn't care much for their overpriced barbecue food at all, but I do like the large selection of cheese from their deli. It's a must-stop for my Napa Valley wine tasting trips!

It's all about the wine...and V. Sattui has my FAVORITE wines in the entire Napa Valley area! I've been coming here for years and just love many of their different varieties, most of all their Gamay Rouge, Muscat and Riesling (yes, I favor the sweeter wines) although I also like to sip on their Madeira...it goes great with chocolate!

Yes, it's crowded...but it's so worth it. Love the beautiful building and site and the mature oaks with picnic tables (note to self: don't wear shorts, remember...dirty benches) provide shade on those hot summer days.

Love the cheese selection from their deli, and although I did not like any of their barbecue food AT ALL (yucky and overpriced), I still have to give them 5 stars because, well...it's all about the wine!

V. Sattui is, by far, my favorite winery. They have the most delicious mustards, cheeses & pasta salads. You have to wine taste, it's only $5.. buy a case and it's free! I recommend the Sattui Family Red & White. For dessert, try the Muscat or Madeira (especially if you like Hennessy). And the Gamay Rouge Rose' is fabulous. Great place for a picnic with the family or just a day with the girls.

We have been v-sattui members since we first fell in love 7 years ago while sharing blue cheese and crackers over a glass of muscat in this lovely winery's picnic area. We have never found another muscat that stands up and we love the dry riesling and cabernet. The Angelica, named after the owner's daughter, is a combination of muscat and 19 year old brandy and has won best fortified wine awards annually. The winery itself won top winery in california for 2006! When we first went, it was a hidden find which has now made it mainstream meaning it gets crowded often. The solution, order a case and get your membership card so you can head to the members cellar club and beat the crowds.

The laws in Napa valley are strange and numerous. One of these laws is that wineries cannot sell food...except for V. Sattui. And because of this, V. Sattui can afford to have some of the cheapest wine tastings around. At one point a basic tasting was free, but that may have changed. It doesn't matter because it's always worth the money to buy the $10 tasting that lets you try more wines including their muscat blend called "Angelica", and their Madeira. In my opinion, these are their best two offerings. My girlfriends family has a rule that anytime anyone makes a trip to Napa, they MUST buy 6 bottles of Madeira (the maximum number you can buy) so that you can sell it to the rest of the family. Like most of the wineries in Napa, you can't get their wine in stores only at the winery. They're most known for their Gamay Rouge, (a rose wine that somehow tastes like strawberry juice). However, I find this always tastes significantly better at the tasting than it does in the bottle. The food is pretty good, but more importantly you don't have to sacrifice a trip to a winery in order to get lunch. This may be my favorite overall winery ever.

Pros: Cheap tastings, great desert wines, FOOD AT A WINERY!

Cons: Go early or late to avoid lunch crowd. Bathroom only has hand blower, no towels

The wine is world class and they have the best area for picnics around.

Worth checking them out. We bought some futures here years back and that was our favorite wine almost ever.

Great place to take out of towners as well as good friends.

Excellent deli area, you go and pick stuff out for a picnic, then get some wine and you are set.

It does get busy so get there early to have a great afternoon. Bring a blanket so you can sit on the grass if all the tables are full.

We went here to save money, but still ended up spending a pretty penny. Still, they have a great selection of deli meats, a little skimpy on the bread, a LOT of cheeses, and, of course, plenty of wine. It's best to take what you want, and go have a picnic in their picnic area just outside the store. It's pricey, but compared to some of the restaurants up in Napa, this was a great idea. Food was good, too.

Without question, my favorite winery in Napa. Their cabernets are great and you can even pre-order a case (or two!) of an upcoming vintage. Their rieslings are rather nice as well (to accompany desserts, or just sip if you have a sweet tooth). Not cheap, but some things in life are worth splurging on, no?

V. Sattui makes me wish I was a wine-drinker. I love the atmosphere of this place. My husband and I go for the Keifer cheese and the other items in the deli.

Every time my girlfriend and I go to Napa we have to stop at V. Sattui. This is my favorite wine that I have found so far. And how can you beat free wine tasting? Plus, it's a great place to sit and have a picnic.

What a place to really take Napa Valley in. Sattui is not only great to taste wine at, they also have a fresh deli and market and an area outside to picnic at. My boyfriend from NY, thought he had died and gone to heaven when we landed here! The tasting is extra uniqe b/c you order your tastes off a menu, rather than the typical tasting of a fixed menu.

When you're ready to take a lunch break, this is a great place to stop. The mini-market has a fine selection of treats to help clear your head from all of the wine tasting you've already undoubtedly done. We bought some thai pasta salad, some cheese and bread and sat ourselves outside at one of the numerous picnic tables. One catch - you may not bring food or wine from other places. Luckily, this place has it all and you will neither go hungry nor thirsty.
