5 Stars: Awesome (by Shaun R.)

I haven't been to this place in a couple years, but now I am an art student and that museum is totally what got me into found object sculpture. This is an excellent place to take your kids! I would absol;utely recommend it to everyone with children. Or even if you're an adult you could still get something out of it!

5 Stars: Love it! (by Caroline O.)

In Marin, my favorite place is the Discovery Museum. Some of it is outdoors, but lots is indoors. There is one building with sort of a waterbed play area and more things for smaller kids. They have several building chock full of things for your kids to do. The last time we went here, there was a big outdoor pirate ship, fort type structure. All of the kids seems to be enjoying themselves. There is an onsite cafe with reasonable prices so you can buy something prior to your kid going into a low sugar meltdown.

5 Stars: This place is awesome! (by Molly B.)

We took our neice here and she loved it! I can't wait until our baby is big enough to enjoy it. There is so much to do, you can easily spend most of a day here. I loved the toddler play area, the fish spot and the huge bird's nest. Just a fun place to spend a day. They have a snack area, but I would probably just bring a little picnic with us next time. We will definitely buy the family pass, since I'm sure we'll be here at least twice a month!

5 Stars: I have a hard time taking my daughter home from this place! (by Sandy D.)

The BADM is a wonderful place to take kids from infants to elementary school age. They have different areas suitable for all ages. My daughter loves the rock area the best and it's hard to get her to see the other areas. They do add and change areas so it's not always the same thing every time you go. You can bring a lunch with you if you'd like to save a little money. Buying a membership gets you into other kids museums as well and allows you to bring a few guests with you each time, so it's well worth the money. They have play areas both indoors or outdoors, but the outdoor areas are generally busier and more fun.

PROS: Play areas my daughter loves
CONS: Too far from my house to go everyday

4 Stars: Tons of fun for smaller kids... (by Deb S.)

A very nice day out in an outstandingly scenic landscape. Plenty of hands-on science and art fun for kids 0-7. Wandering musicians and drop-in activities make this a great bet for a full day of fun. Highly recommend.

5 Stars: Bay area discovery meuseum (by Rahul V.)

The Bay Area Discovery museum is a neat place to take children. It is like a minature of the Exploratorium, where children can touch, play with, and particpate in most of the exhibits. The museum is composed of several small buildings that contain the exhibits, and there is also a small playground in the middle. The musuem is located almost right on the water, with the Golden Gate Bridge in view.

Definitely a must-see for families with children. You may want to bring your own lunch though, I don't remember there being a snack bar, although it may have just been closed when we went. Call to make sure.

5 Stars: Great fun! (by Corey F.)

Indoor or outdoor. Sunshine or rain or fog. This is a great place to take the kids. There's a special toddler section where kids who are too tall can't come in. There are lily pads to climb in and a tunnel to go through. There's an outdoor area with a ship, an area to dig, and a hut made out of sticks. The cafe serves vegetarian chili and a variety of healthy foods. Every second Saturday of the month is free from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
