I would rather chew rocks than go back here again

by Matt S. | insider Insider | Rank: 15,775

Bad Hookah, Bad Service, Bad atmosphere, just bad bad bad! San Diego does not know how to run a proper hookah lounge! The staff is rude, the music was bad... I don't know how anyone can enjoy this place.

Literally my living room

by Jessica S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,542

I come to this place just as much as a enter my own living room-which is often. They offer different coffees, foods, teas, alcoholic beverages, and even hookah!
This is the place i go to sit down, have a tea, a hookah and relax. The one problem is that they only offer hookah outside, so if its a cold or rainy day, kiss this place good bye until it warms up.

Good spot

by Stephanie T. | insider Insider | Rank: 23,502

the living room is a nice place to do homework, hang out, dine, whatever you want to do. it's all very good. the nice plushy decore really makes it feel like a giant mass of living rooms all put together. the food is fairly good, but with a standard la jolla price which is cringe worthy but hey it's la jolla. the best part about the place is that it is open into the late night. i think it closes around midnight or so. just don't try to order food there late because they tend to run out of stuff. as a result, you get even less food for a minimally cut down price. not as worth it. but if you just want a late night place to hang out with friends or to have a study group this is definitely it.

Crowded and unfriendly

by Christine K. | insider Insider | Rank: 17,926

The living room here is very crowded on most nights with odd table arrangements in their crowded space. the baristas are usually unfriendly and most of the time can't make a drink right.

Study to Coffee

by Ting W. | insider Insider | Rank: 14,401

This is THE place to study for many a UCSD student. At some point during your college career at that campus, you will hear that one should be studying at the Living Room. Why? I'm not exactly sure. The Living Room is indeed a nice places, roomy, with some comfortable chairs (although some not so comfortable). The coffee isn't bad, the food is decent. The coffee however is also expensive, and is not significantly better than other independent coffee houses. Same with the food portions, only they are also very small. Still, downtown La Jolla is a nice place to be, and walking around after a few hours of studying, can be relaxing.

PROS: The Location, pleasant environment
CONS: Expensive

Enjoy coffee on a comfortable couch

by Tiffany P. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,424

This fun coffee house in downtown La Jolla features wonderfully brewed coffee and delicious pastries, including an especially great fruit tart. Comfortably inviting couches and arm chairs cover the single story flat. It's the perfect location for some coffee house studying, hanging out with friends, or taking advantage of games and books from the Living Room shelves. I personally like to order their hot chocolate with whipped cream in the evenings if I don't want to be awake all night.

Good food and coffee

by Shannon L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,644

The Living Room has really good food and excellent coffee, all of which is reasonably priced. This location in particular is nice because it has outdoor, bistro style tables as well as indoor tables that look out unto the ocean. This is one of the few budget restaurants in this part of La Jolla. It's generally full of tourists and students, but it's a cool place to have a quick meal, cup of coffee, or to hang out and study.

My favorite coffee joint

by Matthew B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,384

There are a few different Living Room locations around town, but the La Jolla one is definitely my favorite. The sandwiches are great, the coffee is hot, and the baklava is spectacular. But what makes this location is the view. Along the back of the dining area are huge windows with a view of the ocean over the houses below. So nice on a warm summer day with nothing better to do than drink coffee and read on a worn, comfy couch.

PROS: Baklava and a large cafe mocha. Need I say more?
CONS: Parking in La Jolla is always dreadful
