This is seriously one of my favorite restaurants to go to. The owner never seems to forget a face. It could be weeks or months between my visits and he always seems to remember me. The food is by far the best Italian I've ever had. They make their Tiramisu each day from scratch and it is absolutely delicious! They change the decor with each holiday so it's (for example) decorated in orange and black for Halloween or full of reds, pinks and hearts around Valentine's Day. It's really small and can get very busy but it's worth it and an experience you will likely want to repeat again!

Have been eating here for as long as I can recall and have never been let down by the food or the service. Al is a gem as well as the rest of his team. Highly recommend

This is probably one of the most unique dining establishments you will find in the OC. It's located in a bungalow, right next door to the Genovese law office! Family owned establishment; the owners are usually present. It's a complete zoo on the weekends, and quite a wait, so I recommend going on a weekend.

The decor consists of rat pack photos, old phones, lace, and other odds and ends. You will chuckle at what's in there...it's that fun! It's a cozy little place, and it feels like you're a part of a family reunion.

The food really IS Italian; nothing like the franchise fare that's so prominent in So Cal. Extensive menu, decent prices. I do believe these folks have been in business for many years (40?), and they have roots on the East Coast.

I recently found this spot, and loved it when I walked in. Has a super funky atmosphere, and old skool perfume in the ladies room. Made it a favorite, went 3 weeks in a row and brought new friends each time. I was there last night and had drinks, appetizers and dinner with girlfriends. The food isn't cheap, but I like it there. Usually the owner is nice, and last night started that way. We arrived around 5pm and ordered drinks. There was really no one in the place when we arrived but it got busier as the night went on. The service was pretty much awful from go, but I let it slide, I was catching up with friends. Finally after a 25 minute wait, our drink order was taken, however, I didn't actually see a drink for another 20 minutes. The appetizer's were all together forgotten, and when we said something the waiter seemed angry! Then the salads were wrong, dinner took foreverrrrrrrrr, and in the hour and a half that we were there. I only had two drinks, it's Friday, I could have used another.
Then to top off our evening, the owner comes by, picks up my friends half full drink, and she says, "Hey, what are you doing?" he responds, "What there's nothing really in there, and I'm trying to get you out of here, I need the table!!!" We thought he was kidding, but I was irritated. I just dropped $130.00 bucks with a huge tip for horrible service and this guy is giving us the boot!!! We left and I had a minute to let it sink in, by the time i got to my car I was mad, so I went back in to find out if he was kidding. He wasn't, he said, "Oh well, I needed the table we're busy!!!!" I will NEVER be back, and I try to refrain from the word never, but in this case, I will hold myself accountable.

It has a romantic atmosphere. Nice place for special occasions. There's some interesting funny pictures against the wall. The food is ok, some selections could be better.

I have been to Genovese a few times over the last year and every time I go in I get consistant service and amazing food. Al has owned this place for over 30 years, and he is always there! Sometimes he sings, sometimes passes out funky toys, but he is always friendly and looking for a quick chat. That (along with the food of course) makes this one of my favorite local spots. I must have driven past it a hundred times before a friend took me there for lunch...and I've been hooked ever since. Their lunches are great (and filling...had a nice food coma afterwards), or you can have a nice romantic dinner where you really feel like your sitting in a small bistro in Italy. Don't make the same mistake I did and drive past this place...put it on the map and have your next meal here...you won't be disappointed.

If you are looking for a great little Italian restaurant, and happen to be in the Old Town Orange area, definitely stop by this little gem. Apparently this is an old local spot, and I believed it when I stepped through the door. I haven't tasted Italian food this good in a long time, and was surprised when the owner stopped by our table for a chat. Made me feel right at home, which is great when you're on the road. Everything I saw go past my table looked amazing, although I finally settled on a spicy penne pasta dish that was just perfect. The chicken was very flavorful, and not dried out. They have a great wine selection, and make sure you save room for dessert. I'd definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a warm, local atmosphere, and out of this world Italian cuisine.

Started going to this restaurant with my parents when I was 4, 16 years later it is still a favorite of ours. The owners and the waiters always recognize us and stop by to say hello. The food is simply fantastic. Marge's home made minestrone soup is the best ive ever had!
