I had only counter tops done, thank goodness. Beware! Don't hire these people to do anything. They may have once been a decent company but they aren't anymore. To start with, their license has been suspended by the state of Calif and their bond has been canceled. They have at least 4 judgements against them. I was promised neat tidy workers who would care for my home and belongings. I was also promised they would speak English and have 2 years training with the company. They were at least 2 hours late every time they came to the house. The lead guy did decent work but was difficult to understand. The tore out my tile on the first day. They convered nothing, not my tile floor or my furniture in the adjoinging room. I protested and was told by the owner, George, that the job isn't all that dusty. BS! They cleaned up the big pieces of tile and concrete and left me the mess. I was up til 11pm that night cleaning. I got up the next day and my eyes were swollen shut. It has been 2 weeks and my eyes are just now getting back to normal. I had an infection complicated by allergies to the dust. The contract included installing the sink, faucets, garbage disposal etc. The guy that did that botched the entire job. I could have done a better job myself. The 'plumber' didn't know anything and apparently couldn't read the directions. I refused to pay the final half of the payments so they sent someone else to fix it all. For all my trouble the owner would only cut off a couple of hundred for my trouble! He is a piece of work! He is building his own fancy house in Dana Pt...I bet he doesn't get this kind of shoddy work. I like the countertops (quartz) and my new sink and fixtures, but I hated what I had to go through to get in done properly. They require the final 2 payments in cashiers checks. That way you can't come back on them. I refused to do that because of all the trouble. The owner went from my house to the bank 1/2 a mile away and cashed the check. Stay far from this company. I think they could be on the verge of closing. We went to their office and it is a mess. Looks like he isn't paying his bills. Check with the Contractors State License Board. You can check the status of anyone's license for free. Takes. a minute. I was a fool not to but they are a company that I had heard of for years. This company was a pain to deal with! If I wasn't so tenacious I could have really been in trouble.
Pros: none
Cons: even more than I listed!

first of all, we LOVE our new kitchen and we are delighted with the service and workmanship! Our neighbors had Kitchen Connection remodel their kitchen and they "warned" us about the horrendous mess we were going to have. Since we have small children we werent looking forward to the experience but went with their company anyway. We were surprised to find that there was no mess, no excess dust, and no ill effects on our kids! We love their work and were thrilled and have since extolled Kitchen Connection to several friends.

Cons: dont work on weekends

My kitchen is the centerpiece of my Redondo Beach house. I was at an appliance store in the Lomita area , Liberty Appliance. I told them I was remodeling my kitchen and I purchased beautiful GE stainless steel stove, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. While I was talking to the salesperson they mentioned that they have had quite a few referrals from clients about the Kitchen Connection. I picked up a card from them and called their designer David. I couldn't be happier with that decision. What a beautiful job, I love my new kitchen. David warned me about the time it would take to complete the job, but their staff was so helpful it didn't seem like the four and half weeks it took to complete the job. I've already referred two of my friends to them...thanks for the great job....by the way their installer Vlade was prompt and cleaned up whatever mess their was everyday..thanks again Tammy in Redondo

Pros: COMMUNICATION WITH WORKERS....FINISHED ON TIME

I want to thank Kitchen Connection for the beautiful work they did transforming my 80's kitchen into a beautiful modern kitchen. I really needed the work done, but was really dreading the inconvenience I thought there would be when you do a remodel. I was very pleasantly surprised. The employees were always friendly, helpful and if they couldn't answer a question they would get me to the person there who could. Work finished a day early, they did a great cleanup, and I am in love with my kitchen. I liked the wide range of products they have to offer, and the designer who came to my house was very helpful in coming up with a new layout that would be more efficient and give me more room. I would highly recommend them to anyone, and I have! My parents are getting their kitchen done in the next month, and I am excited for them.

Pros: Beautiful work professional, on time

This company started off by lying to me. And it just got worse. It ended with them delivering cheap glass for my cabinet doors, glass one might use to frame pictures. (I have since learned that you must use tempered glass, which I had to buy adding $$$ to my remodel.) I paid for them to paint my kitchen but was so OVER them, I chose to go with another company. Were they professional enough to refund the cost of the painting? HA HA HA HA. Find another company. Please.

I wish I had done a bit more research on this business before we committed. Anyway, buyer beware and shame on us.
My kitchen is still not completed. I do have a completion date, but from what I see now we will run over that date. Everything was going very well until we got to the finishing. It was so disappointing! Unfortunately we have already given The Kitchen Connection two tries at fixing the finish. We had streak marks, uneven color finishes. The photographs show the problems in the finish, which means it is visible enough that the photographs viewed through the camera can catch the inferior finish. There were fingerprint smudges on the finish varnish,, paint brush bristles left to dry on the varnish, and other issues.
The granite tops are also delayed, by at least a month as of this date, from the time they were picked out at the yard. The granite company even called us to ask if we still wanted the granite slabs that have been sitting in their yard. When we contacted The Kitchen Connection about this they could not give us an answer for the delay. They do not call back with information.
According to the State Board of Contractor's, the license shows there has been a judgment against this company. I wish we had known that. Again shame on us!
I will give you an update when the job completes. Hopefully I can give you a positive outcome that everything is completed on time, to our satisfaction and with no surprises at the end.

First off their pricing was great , much less then some, but not the cheapest. Our new kitchen is SPECTACULAR...Work was done on time, as promised. We found all of the crews to be easy to work with, respectful of our property, and quality conscious. Our home looks like it fell from the pages of a remodeling magazine! We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I wish I would have found these reviews before I signed with the Kitchen Connection. They were about $2,000 less than my other estimate, but now I know I should have gone with the other company.

Their customer service is horrible. They don't return calls and are rude. I was given two different stories as to why it took three extra weeks for my counter top to be installed. The workers left trash in my new sink and in the cabinets.

From a distance the cabinets look great (they were refaced), but up close there are many flaws. I had to have them repair several things before I made my final payment, and there are still scratches and flaws in the varnish, etc. Now after 8 months, the varnish is beginning to peel on three cabinet faces. I left two messages (these calls were not returned) before I was finally able to speak personally to the person in charge of this problem. She cut me off before I could finish telling her that my calls had not been returned, and then told me the varnish is only guaranteed for 6 months. She sounded very annoyed throughout the phone call and told me I'd have to pay for a service call if I wanted them to look at the problem.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. Yes, they may be less expensive, but it is not worth it in the long run. Now, after less than a year, I have to find someone to refinish some of the cabinets.

DO NOT USE Kitchen Connection

Cons: Rude, Poor Quality, Unresponsive to concerns and problems... I could go on....

We used KC after my wife left our contact information with a rep at a street market about 8 months ago.

They were very persistent about calling back, and we weren't really going anywhere with our idea to redo our kitchen, so we said 'Sure, come on over and give us a quote"

David came over, went through materials and showed us pictures, we chose and he gave us a price.
He also offered to do some extra work on the side with his own company - apart from KC - we didn't.
After having signed the paper work, my wife decided she wanted some shelves on the end, discussed it with David, and he said "sure, we can throw that in". Later not done.

When the draftsman came over for the plans, he suggested we make a roll out cabinet to put in the space where our dishwasher was, we were given a price of $700, and we agreed.

The cabinets were installed and stained, and came out beautifully for the most part, but there were lots of little places where the stain dripped and the stain wasn't applied correctly, leaving great big blobs on the tops of drawer edges.

A day prior prior to the countertop being installed, we asked KC if we could extend the countertop a little farther out - they said it was too late ( I guess that was fair - short notice)
When the counter installers came in, they let us know that the slide-in cabinet was too tall AND that it couldn't be taken out afterwards without it being destroyed.

We spoke to a supervisor (Greg) who informed us that this was the case, and that a whole new cabinet would have to be made in order to make it slide out and that that would be another $600 - a total of $1300 for a 3' x 4' cabinet: We nixed that idea.

This portion of the job is what made me most unhappy - this error was on the part of their draftsman, and we were going to have to pay extra to have it fixed.

Work was completed in the agreed to time and it looks very nice, except for the blobs of stain on the drawer tops and on fixtures in the cabinets.

The Kitchen Connection (Hayward) has one thing going for it - they build very nice *looking* cabinetry, at a reasonable price - if you have infinite patience, and are willing to be your own general contractor.

The workmanship leave something to be desired, the screws are visible in many of the drawers and the laminate on the refinished surfaces took three or four tries to stay put. As far as I can tell in the 9+ months it took to do my project there was 200% turnover in the company. I went through two designers, two installers, had to have one cabinet redone because they did not read the revised specifications from the first review, and after 9+ months we are finally finished. The kitchen was unusable for the better part of 6 months, several months past the expected working by date).

I had to call them nearly daily for several months to make any progress at all, and had to hire my own subcontractors to do parts of the installation (putting the sinks back in). Their communication with the granite counter top subcontractor was so poor that the work had to be redone because the drawings were not followed - that took two extra months, extra trips to the granite contractor, and dozens of phone calls, faxes, and allusions to calling the the lawyers.

It looks nice (except where the screws in the drawers stick out inside the drawers) but it cost at least $15,000 extra in lost use of the house, and we won't try and calculate how many hours I spent as the general contractor. Don't look to them for help in organizing any other work needed to fix the kitchen, and don't expect them to file any permits you might need.

Pros: Looks nice

Cons: If you can live without your kitchen for six months

terrible customer service, slow to respond. They have absolutely no regard for others. In addition to regular late arrivals, they proceed to give multiple excuses. They are hypocritical liars who have no interest in serving their customers. They see errors and unless you the customer see them too, they will ignore them until you say something. And then, once you do, they will ignore you until you bombard them with phone calls. They have a saying 80% of our projects go well, 20% don't. Ummm...excuse me, but this 80-20 rule is terrible and should be told to customers before they contract with you, especially when they ask point blank about success and failures. They are understaffed and over-excused. Oh...and the product...terrible quality. The only thing good is a product they sell, as opposed to create, i.e., caesar stone. Did I mention how rude some of their employees are? Save your money and go with a professional kitchen remodeler; don't short-change yourself on them. You will regret it. We have!

Earlier this month I contracted with The Kitchen Connection to reface exiting cabinets and add cabinets. I love my "new" kitchen. No one can tell which cabinets are new and which ones are 40 years old. The craftmanship is great. The workmen were professional, friendly and polite and took care to remove debris and clean up after themselves. I'm absolutely happy with this company and my neighbors will be contacting them in the near future. Only con, if any, would be the lack of communication within the office personnel.

We just finished having our kitchen remodeled by The Kitchen Connection and it looks FABULOUS!!! We could not be happier with the final results! Prior to starting the remodel we did a lot of research and investigated several different companies before making the decision to go with The Kitchen Connection. From talking to friends who had lived through horrible kitchen remodels with other companies, we were anticipating encountering problems and expecting long delays. Were we ever PLEASANTLY surprised! From the the initial designer who came out to our house and helped us create our "dream kitchen" to the last installer, they were all friendly, professional and always helpful. I would DEFINITELY recommend The Kitchen Connection to anyone thinking of remodeling their kitchen. Their prices were very competitive and their service was EXCEPTIONAL!

Kitchen was to be refaced October 2006. Now 12/28/06 the cabinets have yet to be refinished. I will list the numerous problems: *Initial installer stole drinks from our garage fridge and later admitted to it once we located the empty cans left around in our kitchen and garage. *Ran out of materials - laminate apparently takes weeks to order. Though the drafter should of estimated the right amount. *The company did not order enough doors. Several of the doors ordered had the laminate peeling off. *Installer sanded several areas of laminate so the yellowish color underneath is left exposed. He did not even have enough energy to fill these areas with wood filler. All the staples and nail openings did not have enough wood filler placed in there to make the area flush to the surrounding surface. *2 out of 5 of our corbels were left loose (these structures support the bar counter) *Installer left a half a bottle of gatorade on our plywood counter top and another drink on our dryer. *Contract included them lowering our oven opening and microwave opening, which they failed to do *I have been in contact with all higher ups and finally they sent a new installer out today to start cleaning up the mess. Of course the problem cabinet doors, etc. still need to be ordered even though KC was aware weeks ago. *Contract will be ending soon, and I have a feeling they won't be done on time *They keep hounding me for the next payment which is suppose to be given at time of cabinet completion, trying to bully me into paying at least partial payment so my project can proceed (meaning countertop installed). I have refused since it is absurd for me to pay since I am still waiting for about 6 doors and 1 draw front to be replaced. *The list goes on but this site only lets you write so much. I hope this info allows consumers to look else where when it comes to refacing because I certainly would not want anyone else to have to deal with what I am going thru.

Pros: none at all!!!!

Cons: too many - read my review ( I actually had to fire them)

I have never experienced such a miserable extended experience with a contractor. Countless unreturned phone calls. Shoddy craftsmanship. Sneaky coverups of mistakes. Rude workers. Zero accountability for substandard craftsmanship. Think twice before signing ANY contract with this company. Never Again !!!!!

I've use this company 7 years ago and they were great, fast, friendly and good craftmanship. This second experience was horrible!! I would not recommend using them! It has taken over 5-6 months of delays, issues after issues of bad work with the resurfacing job and new cabinet too! No return calls from the company, they do not want to take any responsibility. It was just bad work! Word of advice from someone who has use them before...they not what they use to be. Go else where for quality work, this company has lost their quality and does not pay attention to their customers like they would like you to believe. Just say NO to The Kitchen Connection!

Pros: reasonable pricing
