My first lesson was wonderful and the instructor made driving a pleasant experience. But my second lesson was the most nerve-racking 2 hours of my life. The instructor yelled and yanked at the wheel continuously. She would yell at me to speed up if I was going even 2 mph under the limit on a crowded street, then yell at me to slow down a second later. She wouldn't tell me what I was supposed to do until the moment I had to do it. Such as not telling me which direction to go until I was already at an intersection, or when making a maneuver I've never done before she would make me do it before telling me how to do it. I'm amazed that I didn't get into an accident. The instructor herself was very rude and completely unprofessional. She laughed about how her students are "retarded" and commented about how they were "probably high". While I was stopped at an intersection she asked me how many prostitutes I thought were standing on the corner. She seemed very racist towards Mexicans. She told me to do things that I have been told by many people, including my previous instructor, to never do. I didn't learn anything from her and am dreading my final lesson.

I have had 2 children go through their programs. One just the behind-the- wheel and one both behind-the-wheel and class room. Both experiences where positive. Set up times easily and the instructors were very calm with nervous drivers.

They have online classes now available as well, if you are the lazy type. Otherwise, Palomar Driving School is a good place to go/send your child to learn the ins and outs of driving.

PROS: Learn to drive, online classes available
CONS: Escondido has a tendency for being too lenient
