7/27/06 Went for lunch. As I walked in it took my senses a while to adjust to the dark and unfriendly atmosphere. Deep dark mahogany stained wood is prominent throughout the bar and restaurant. The tables are nicely appointed, and the chairs are comfortable. Ordered the potstickers, $5.95. They were large and wrapped in a very thick wrapper. The bottoms were nicely browned, but they were too doughy. The filling was dense and fatty which detracted from whatever little spice there was in the pork. More ginger and other spices would help out a lot here. The entrees were each $10.95. The Hunan beef serving was a huge portion of meat, and I specially ordered extra vegetables with it for an extra $2.00 charge. I asked for celery, onions, broccoli, chestnuts, and mushrooms. I would have preferred the celery to be cut in smaller chunks. The sauce needed to be more plentiful and thicker. I was happy with the beef, for it was tasty and most pieces were tender. The black bean prawns was not as huge in portion, and the sauce was definately right on par, and the onions and green peppers were crisp and fresh. Be sure to ask for little or no garlic, but since I love garlic it was fine for me.
Overall the chinese here is better than average and the value will definately have me revisit.
For Karoke fans the bar offers it Thu-Sat night.
9/01/06 Went for their lunch special served till 4pm. Got chinese chicken salad, 2 fried prawns, pork fried rice, and mongolian beef, $7.95. The portions were large enough for me to get two meals out of it. the beef was very good for the price and a lot better than most. It was tender enough. I would recommend asking for extra sauce with it. The salad was crispy and fresh. Not only is the lunch special a good value, but the food is prepared better than the fancy spot downtown.

Pros: Value, lunch special

Cons: potstickers, atmosphere, service

Although it looks like any other ordinary beige building from the outside, inside stores a very enjoyable restaurant. They serve outstounding cuisine. I particularly love their orange chicken, and their staff always seems to be on the ball. They should definitely look into doing take-out, because it's that delicious.
