I've been coming to this Todai occasionally since they opened many years ago. My wife and I just ate here for lunch today, Friday August 22, 2008. We will NEVER, EVER go to this Todai again no matter what. I hate this awful and rude place. We got there at 1:30 PM and and double checked to see how late they would be open. 2:30 PM was confirmed on the door and by the girl who waited to seat us., We thought they would stop serving at 2:30, and let people finish eating. No way. At 2:10 they announced the kitchen was closing, and several of the wait staff started serving themselves from the buffet. By 2:20, three (3) different servers had stopped at out table to ask me to pay the check. We were furious !!! Not only is the staff really rude here, but the buffet really does suck too. We paid $16:95 each for cold food from the "hot" tables. There was no sashimi available; only old discolored tuna / salmon sushi that was beginning to look dry almost like jerky. Look, I know buffets are not good compared to real sushi restaurants, I've learned the lesson well and can do better than this and I will from now on. I hope this place is forced to close it's doors for good, and I'm going to tell the world just how much I hate Todai until they really do go belly up.... just like the dead tasting and stinky raw fish they serve!!
I love YELP and think YELPERS are wonderful people !! Let's keep these crappy restaurants out of our neighborhoods for ever! They don't deserve our hard earned money!

This Japanese buffet has so many delicious dishes to try . There's just too much to fit in one stomach. I enjoyed the food very much except for the bill. It was too costly. With a drink , it was $ 19 a person. I thought the pricing was irrational because it would cost 14.99 if you were 5'0 or taller.
I'm 4'11 so does that mean i should be charged as an adult or child?

I LOVE Todai,
Nancy, th manager is wonderfully friendly and accommodating. The staff are friendly and always willing to be of service. The food selection is superb!!
The atmosphere is noisy and not romantic. but that is not what I go to a buffet for anyway!

I love that they give you a coupon for a free future visit if you go on your actual birthday!
My favorite food: the LOBSTER on weekend evenings!
I love the sashimi and all of the salads as well as the selection of sushi!
HIGHLY Recommend!

Todai in Orange is one of the best Japonese buffet restaurants around and they have a 4 star rating. The restaurant is kept up clean along with the dishes & silverware are also kept clean.

The service is very good..you are greated by polite hosts in Japonese as they bow to you when you enter & exit. Your glass or cup will never be empty & they have a great selection of foods to accomodate just about anyone young & old. This place has a great family atmosphere and holds large groups of people for small parties, engagements..etc. You are treated with respect and they always make you feel welcome. I do not just get this kind of service for myslef & family but through my experiences & observations everyone is treated equally in this establishment.

You will have a wonder ful dining experience, ...they are open on most holidays even Christmas!

The food is delicious & made fresh. You can even request certain dishes such as different types of sushi, hand roles, soups, & mouthwatering pastries cooked right in front of you while you wait. They have TV monitors with sports on so you are never bored.

Also, the manager or owner always comes to your table personally to make sure you are greatly satisified. This restaurant is truly a cream in the crop for Japonese Buffet & if you do not like sushi..., well, they serve plenty of other hot dishes to satify even the pickiest of eaters!

Bon Apetite!

Customer service: Atrocious
Atmosphere: Atrocious
Price: Horrendous

The whole experience was bad from top to bottom & once I met the manager, I knew why. Leadership at this restaurant is sorely lacking. He made me feel like an intruder rather than a guest. I sincerely recommend you find a REAL sushi restaurant and AVOID TODAI at all cost.

Todai is an all-you-can-eat buffet with excellent customer service, and also has great variety of foods. There is a great selection of hot meals and cold served meals such as sushi. The price is usually affordable and the waiters are very courtious and do not need to be reminded to perform actions. The only real problem I can find about this store is that it is often crowded.

PROS: Great Food, Excellent Customer Service, Good Price
CONS: Crowded
