My wife wanted to show me this lil place her girlfriend and her went to the other day after the gym. Jackson Barne Classic Grill. The name doesn't really stand up to the decor once you're inside. Grille you think elaborate hamburgers and beer. But thats not a bad thing. We only ate breakfast here so far and honestly it doesn't look like a place I'd go for dinner. I'm somewhat of a fancy pants when it comes to dinner houses. Very simple inside and a huge tv to watch my golf on this beautiful Saturday morning. My wife and I split an egg white omelet with scallions and tomato. Bland to say the least but thats not their fault my wife didn't order any cheese!!! how can you have an omelet without cheese I say? and a tad overcooked but still good. We also split a bowl of oatmeal with fruit and it was pretty good I'll have to tell ya. JBCG feels like your walking into a Corner Bakery, like so many restaurants are nowadays. Fast Casual they call them. No servers so less out of pocket expense for you and for the house. You get a number and take your drink and wait. They bring it out and viola, you eat. They have a nice little patio and basically cater to the gym head and familes. I'm sure during lunch the crowd consist mostly of business people in this mostly industrial area. Not too far is Irvine Spectrum so I'm sure JBCG gets a lot of traffic. It's pretty good, we'd visit it again for sure. I recommend it.

Pros: Lots of choices on the menu. Simple and easy. Family friendly for sure.

Cons: Couldn't really think of any.

This is the perfect restaurant concept. They have a "Towne" and a "Country" menu. One is healthy fare, and the other is... let's just say a little more homestyle in the good ole country sense.

The food is great, and it's a little cafe type restaurant - although they've recently upgraded the tables from the crayons/paper. It's now cloth under glass - they've gone to Towne!

The service is really fast - walk up & order, then seat yourself and they'll deliver the food. There's a couple tables outside, but most of the seating is inside.

It gets really crowded at lunch, so be prepared!

PROS: Great food - good location, wide selection
CONS: Small

I am originally from Los Angeles so I am used to having an abundance of diners and breakfast places nearby. When I moved down to orange county 6 years ago, that was one of the things that I missed the most. Sure there are breakfast places, but we are talking Denny's, Ihop, or some other chain. Jackson Barne has brought authentic american diner food to Orange County.
