My last two cars were happily purchased from Honda dealerships but last night was my first time coming to this dealership. If I could give Capitol Honda zero stars, I would.

I was so appalled by the bad customer service at this location. I called on Saturday night and set up an appointment to view three vehicles. The salesman said that he would pull those vehicles since they were located across the street and they would be ready for me to view the next day. The vehicles were not pulled, and I had to wait for them to drive the cars over from across the street. No big deal, I waited. After all, I came from out of town to view the vehicles and did not want to leave empty handed. I drove 2 1/2 hours to get to the location only to find out that one of the vehicles I really wanted to see was sold already! A courtesy call informing me that one of the vehicles I wanted to look at was sold would have been a nice gesture! That way I didn't have to waste my time driving there.

However, I did come from afar and there were two other vehicles I wanted to see, so I test drove one. While we were inside talking numbers, another couple wanted to test drive the same vehicle I wanted. I was confused because I wanted that car already and thought we were about to work on a deal. The salesman said that I had to understand that because the car wasn't sold to me yet, the dealership had to let other customers test drive the vehicle as well. I filled out the credit application and he ran my application and found that I had great credit and tried to get me to buy a brand new car, which is not what I wanted to do. He had a print out of monthly payments for a car I did not want. He picked out the vehicle and color for me. It was so not what I wanted as a customer. I told him that the print out was not for the vehicle I test drove and I wanted that specific car. I did not come in there to test drive one car and leave with another car! He then told me that while I was test driving the car, the couple put in their credit application first and therefore were sold the car first even though I got to the scene first, test drove first, and was negotiating already. What kind of crap is that? The car was sold right under my nose while I was talking to the salesman! That was really shady and I was really upset. It's like, waiting in line to pay for a flat screen tv and because the person behind you had their money out first, they got first dibs! How rude?! The salesman and manager kept pushing for me to get a newer model, color, and automatic car which again was not what I wanted. They couldn't even explain how they could sell a car that I was already negotiating to someone else but said that they would give me a deal.

They have to understand that 1) It's common courtesy that if someone sets up an appointment to see a car, that if the car is sold, which I understand I have no hold over that, that the person with an appointment should be called. 2) If a customer shows interest in a vehicle after test driving it, and is in an office talking to you about numbers, that you shouldn't sell it to someone else who came after them. 3) If a customer tells you the specifics that they want in a car, the dealership shouldn't push for a different make, model, color. It shows that during the conversation, the salesman did not listen to my preferences. 4) I know the dealership was trying to make money off of me but the customer's happiness should come first and foremost because when they are treated fairly, they will refer the location to other friends and families.

I really did try to work with the dealership by still viewing the other vehicles I came to see but selling the one I wanted right under my nose was really something else. When I was in my car to leave, the salesman came to my car to give me my registration that I dropped and also to get me to consider buying another new car. Really? You can't see that your customer just left because you are trying to strong arm them into a deal they didn't want and just sold their car to someone else? How disappointing! The service was bad; I couldn't even give my business to them. In the manager's office, I wanted to yell and scream my anger but knowing that I didn't give my business to them is the biggest insult I could give.

EXCELLENT SERVICE: I bought a Honda Accord 2011 at Capitol Honda on 9-15-11 the service I received was excellent, I was serviced by a guy named Mat, there was no pressure he was interested in what I was interested in, and he didn't try to sell me something that I wasn't looking for. In going into the financial part I was encountered by a gentle by the name of Max very professional. The employee's made it a point to show there concern about the type of Service being provided. I would recommend Capitol Honda to my elderly grand mother and feel confident she would be well taken care of. WAY TO GO GUY'S KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK..

I just bought a 2011 Honda Pilot from Capitol Honda Internet Sales Director Doug last Saturday. No hassel, no sale pressure, and no problem. The deal was completed in less than 3 hours - this was the first time I bought my car in such a short period. I have got my price and great car. I think the experience told me that we need to deal with higher level manager directly not sales people. Doug is a great guy to deal with. Try it!

Please DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE. The finance manager Matthew St. John was a jerk. He will humiliated anyone who give offers below kelly blue book. I gave an offers for used Honda Accord, then they sit me down on the table to work out a deal and gave me a quote with a ridiculous price for a used Accord. I thought they were okay with my offer but instead put me down in front of everyone. Car prices here are high compare to other dealerships. AGAIN DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE HUMILIATED BY SALESMEN HERE!!!!!

I bought a Honda in August of 2009. It was the most awful experience of my life. I had to come back over 4 times to get the deal complete. I would have gone to a different dealership but I was utilizing the Cash for clunkers deal and the inventory at most dealerships was depleted in my price range. Salesperson, finance manager and service department all very rude and pushy! Never again will I buy from Capitol Honda, buyers beware.

I went there to buy a civic, the sales people tried to screw me on a 06 Acura MDX trade in, when it became apparent that I was going to be "dealing" - they iced me for 20 minutes in the waiting room. When I went out side - the sales guy was smoking a cigarette! When I got in my car to leave he came up and said "whats wrong, you'll never buy a car this way". So I went to Larry Hopkins Honda - got a great trade in price and a better deal on the same car at Capitol. I am writting this because my civic needs a repair for a recall on some pulley bolts. Capitol is the closest to my work and the most convienent, but after reading these other reviews, it brought back memories of what douch bags they are there. So I am going to another dealarship to get my car repaired.

Google or Yahoo "honda condenser problems" One of the 1st things you will get is a law firm that is investigating many models of Honda going back several years for a design flaw that doesn't protect the condenser coil from every day normal road debri such as small pebbles from construction vehicles and etc.

The condenser is easily damaged and a new condenser will set you back around $500 - 700 with no guarantee that it's not going to happen again as soon as you get on a freeway!!!

This recently happen to my 2008 civic and although I have complainted to Capitol Honda and America Honda Corporation and have filed a consumer complaint with Ca. New Motor Vehicle Board ... Honda doesn't get it!!! Simple fix .. install a mesh screen behind the Grille ... it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Honda won't install this for you ... probably because they want to sell you another condenser coil soon.

I had a certifed mechanic replace the condenser and install the mesh screen.

BEWARE .... $500 - 700 for a new condenser ... mine was damage on 280 (i assume) The civic was only 3 month old with less then 3500 miles!

Honda .... shame on you! You have lost another new car buyer!

We went to buy my son a car and were insulted by Gordon the sales rep. He greeted us and as soon as he thought we were not buying right then he left us standing there with his card and moved on to the next customer. I couldn't believe it. They must not value customers very much. We did buy a car that day just not from Capitol.

Worst experience ever, price negotiation will make you sick in a mater of few min. I bought my new CR-V 2008 several ours later from another dealership not to mention much cheaper from what they want in Capital. They also pushing overpriced extra accessories including outrages installation charge (they install it without asking future customers on all new vehicles and add em to the total cost) to make a huge profit from something customer don??t even need or want right away. All sales stuff I??ve dealing with are liars with pitbull attitude. If you like to be ripped off and humiliated ?? it is a place for you.

Outright insulting. Avoid at all cost.
I went out to buy used car at Capitol Honda. The sales guy wasn't ready to talk about Accords which were below '00, since I had a "low budget" of around $12-13K. As I was about to depart, came the final words: We see lot of people like you who like what we offer and not sure what they want. What. I couldn't believe. he also said couple of other things. Bottomline, avoid this dealership, pretty bad experience. I could see that they want at least $5000 out of every deal, if you are not ready to pay, then better get lost.

Toyota guys, next door were not bad, though I couldn't find a car there too.

Editing my post, Just saw that somebody else also had similar experience. Looks like they are trained to insult people who are leaving.

You know how mushroom is grown? They were kept in the dark and given b_shit. The "adviser" gave me a "mushroom" report on what was done to my car. My 2 month old car battery went dead after 1 week of sitting in my garage, they told me nothing was wrong with it and that is just normal.

I have a 2004 Honda Accord and I just had my 30K major service performed. After the service, I checked my coolant level at home and saw that it was below the minimum level line. I called up my "service advisor" Dan Rhodas, who gave me some bogus excuse saying that it was low was because I checked it when my car was cooled down. He told that if I drove it for awhile, the level should go above the minimum mark. But the fact is I checked the coolant level right after I drove the car home from the dealership! Anyways, I told him that I am coming in and I would like my coolant filled to a satisfactory level and I asked when it would be a good time to do so. He told me that anytime before 4PM that day would be good. Well, when I went in to the dealership, they said I had to wait 45 minutes before someone can take a look at it. ALL I WANT IS MY COOLANT TO BE FILLED, WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN PART OF THE MAJOR SERVICE THAT I PAID WAY TOO MUCH FOR! Anyways, I told the service guy that I had called earlier and that's all I need. Finally, they came out and filled it up! I am wondering what else did they promise to do in their major service and not do.

They also performed a battery test and determined that my battery failed and that I need a new one. I called several times to confirm the fact that all I need to do is drop off and pick up a new battery from the dealership at 50% off because Honda covers 50% of the battery cost if the battery is less than three years old. Well, it was a totally different story when I arrived at the dealer. Not only can I not pick up the battery, but I had to perform another (but exactly the same) test at an extra cost, pay for 50% of the battery cost, and the labor!

I got my first car here couple of years ago, it was a pretty good experience back then and when it's time for a second car, we decided to come back. But boy, are we totally disappointed! The sales person (Wally) was ok in the beginning, showing us the civic and we test-drived the car. But when we told him we'll need some time to decide, his attitude completely changed. He became very rude, repeatedly trying to insinuate that we're not "serious buyers", which we were. He was very argumentative, trying to convince us that we're wasting his time. Apparently, according to him, every customer that sets foot in the dealership is supposed to buy a car. We were not satisfied with his attitude obviously and we told it to him in his face and left. While we were leaving, we could still hear him yell stuff like "don't come back again until you're ready to buy" .... right, I don't think we'll ever go back again with this kind of service unless there's a formal apology from his employer. We left a complaint for his manager, have not heard back yet. Let's hope the management is not as unprofessional as the sales rep.

I will never buy a car here again. After quoting me a price which I though about and came back later that day to purchase after walking, they refused to give the price. I complained to the manager which agreed to honor the price and then when I get to signing the paper work the price on the contract is higher by a few thousand. They simply apologized for the error and still had the nerve to try to sell me all the extra crap.

I bought my Honda Odyssey at Anderson Honda in Palo Alto but since I live in the South Bay, I have it serviced at Capitol Honda. The service team is so polite and efficient and a pleasure to deal with. They track my maintenance schedule for me and remind me to get my van in for service whenever needed. The courtesy van service and complimentary car wash are wonderful. They always ask for feedback from their customers.

I will never go there again. When I was buying a new Pilot, I had a deal all worked out with a sales representative. When I went in to close the deal the sales representative wasn't there when she said she would be. When someone tried to help me, he told me there was no way that I could get the price that she quoted. And apparently her boss when consulted said that he never approved the price I was quoted. It felt very much like a bait and switch. I immediately called South Bay Honda and drove there to buy my car.

I bought my car here, and bring my cars here for service. They are a big dealership, with a lot of inventory. Of course, car salemans here is as pushy as any other place, but u get a much better selection buying a car here. The service department is good and seem knowledgeable. Also, their service department held a new owners workshop every month for free, even if you buy the car from some where else. At that workshop, they'll give you free gift, and you get to chit chat with their technician about your car + car tips.

I wanted to buy a Honda Civic a couple of years ago and went to Capitol Honda to see if I could get a good deal from them. I dealt with a salesman named Hung and he was very pleasant. He didnt try to pressure at all and answered all my questions. I didnt buy my car from them though because I found a better deal somewhere else.

Capitol Honda has an amazing inventory of Hondas. When I went there to buy my Honda, they showed me almost all classes of cars including the special editions which i could not find elsewhere. They have a big inventory of cars and their prices are very competitive. The Salesman was nice and patient even though his english was BAD. But again this place has some of the best deals of all Honda dealers.

PROS: big inventory of cars
CONS: bad comm skills of salesman was the only bad thing

Even though we ended up buying our car from Toyota because of teh better prices when compared to Civic, but these guys were great in terms of their inventory, service and prices. They tried everything to get us hooked onto Civic but compared to Toyota, Honda was bit more expensive.

PROS: Great Inventory and Service
CONS: Rates a bit higher
