I brought my older Toyota to Precision Motors whenever I had a problem (which wasn't very often, they're so reliable) and always found them to be thorough, honest and reasonably priced.

My girlfriend had a classic '72 Volvo P1800es which she took to Precision Motors in Silverlake, LA, CA. on a few occasions. First, the car was extremely low on power and was running hot and would not start up again when hot, an unresolved issue from a different mechanic's engine work. Doug, the owner, had proclaimed was due to a faulty muffler creating back-pressure, and recommended a muffler shop. That did not help the problem one bit. It wasn't only some time later that I myself determined that the valves were not adequately adjusted, something Precision Motors failed to notice.
They at some point, however, determined that the alternator was faulty on her car, and so charged her about $400 to replace it. In doing so, however, they "fabricated" a mounting bracket as a means of side-stepping an issue with a mounting bolt. This bracket managed to hold for less than a week before breaking apart, leaving my girlfriend broken down on a freeway interchange lane as the alternator failed. Being precariously stopped, a nice Highway Patrolman pushed her off the freeway with his squad car, leaving her bumper slightly bent but perhaps averting a major issue.
Another issue brought to their attention was the car's weak braking. Doug's team decided it was necessary to replace not only the rotors and pads all around, but the master cylinder as well. Quite a comprehensive job, and for $800. As necessary as that job may or may not have been, the brakes were still soft and weak. Fed up with their service and the high repair costs mounting up with unresolved problems, she sold the car to me. Not only did I determine the issue with the valves (mind you I'm no expert), I also found that despite the seemingly comprehensive brake job, they failed to notice 2 rubber brake hoses which were leaking!

As a good sign of a well-liked autoshop, you will first notice the many cars filling up the Precision Motors lot. Specializing in foreign car repairs, though definitely qualified to repair any car, Precision Motors has given me quality auto repair service for the past few years.
