Ratings_icons I Only Trust Bastet With My Cats

Aida M.

We've been taking our cats to Bastet for years and now that we've been newly adopted by a stray, little Charlie has become the newest patient. Everyone there, from the staff, to the office cats to Dr. Sam himself are warm, caring and careful with our cat-kids. We understand it takes a special person to treat cats and we'd never take our cats anywhere else. Dr. Sam will also take the time to carefully explain diagnosis/prognosis/treatment and will offer alternatives so everyone is comfortable financially, physically and emotionally. We have no hesitation in refering Bastet to friends and/or anyone that's looking for a primo cat vet.

Ratings_icons Pushy, Greedy, and Rude!

Anonymous A.

The experience I had with Bastet Cat Hospital was ridiculous! The doctor seemed very pushy and the nurses were only nice until I agreed to the services, which by the way were literally four times more expensive than another vet that I ended up taking my cat to in the long run. After I signed the papers to have my cat recieve a blood test, it seemed like the doctor and his team acted as quickly as they could to take my cat out of the room, so that I wouldn't change my mind. My cat came back terrified and in shock. I will never go back to this vet, nor will I ever reccommend it to anyone!

My "boys" have been patients of Dr. Basilious and Bastet Cat Hospital for over 10 years now and I will take them nowhere else! I love my "boys" as they add value to my life with their unconditional love. Dr. Basilious adds value to their lives with his unconditional love for cats.

This morning I woke to a true cat medical emergency!! As I hurriedly dressed there was absolutely no doubt in my mind where I was going to take him - Bastet Cat Hospital! The Bastet staff was caring and compassionate as they checked him in and as soon as Dr. Basilious saw his condition, he knew he was dealing with a gravely ill cat...

With his years of experience and advanced training Dr. Basilious knew the course of action that was needed - none of the "maybe it is this" kinds of tests. As a cat can't tell you where they hurt, it is also important to have a Dr. that has a natural intuitive instinct. He explained all the possibilities to me, including the risks, and then proceeded to care for my ill cat. I have to admit that there was a lot of praying on my part...

Part way through the procedure Dr. Basilious came to show me what he had found and to let me know what he would be doing next...great "bedside" manner is the only way I can think to describe it.

The good news is that my cat came home the same day and is doing much better while we wait for the lab results to come back. If it weren't for Bastet and Dr. Basilious I'm afraid the outcome would have been much different. A special thank you to Dr. Basilious and the staff at Bastet.

Ratings_icons The Ego Supercedes Patient Care

anonymous i.

Horrible experience. Yes, he does appear to provide "Lamborghini" care; I love my cats as if they were my children, and this is why I took them there. However, after a couple of unfortunate incidents with the Dr., which resulted in more unnecessary expenses and additional visits to a different (and more rational vet), I came to the following realization: Unfortunately, Dr. Bastet's ego is always ahead of his compassion and clear clinical thinking; he has a difficult time listening, and will NEVER consider the possibility that he may be incorrect with his diagnosis--even if it hurts the patient.
I am happy for those who have had a good experience with him, but I hope that they will be cautious. I have since met a few other cat owners who have had similar experiences with Dr. Bastet, and who will never return or refer.

Ratings_icons Bastet Cat Hospital is the Best Cat Vet in Southern California!

Arielle H.

There is NO other doctor I would take my cats to see! The staff is always helpful and really know my cats well. I feel like they are family! Dr. Basilious LOVES cats and it shows. He has helped me diagnose issues in advance to help my cats live healthier, longer lives than ever imagined! With his proactive care and treatments, my senior cats have lived over 1.5 years with kidney failure, and they are happy and doing great!

My younger cats are healthy and happy, and they are very active! When I thought about moving to the west side, I thought, "oh no, I can't live so far from Bastet! That just won't work for me!" So, I am staying in Glendale! I'm 100% serious here... that's how much I love my cats! They deserve the BEST vet in LA!

Ratings_icons Bastet Cat Hospital is the best place for cats care

Evelyne F.

My kitten Katia was having problem going to her cat litter and ultimately stopped eating. I took her to a neighbourhood vet clinic. Even though the veterinarian who examined her said that he did not find any sign of constipation, he treated her with enemas and charged me a lot of money. When I went to pick her up and wanted to ask questions, the vet was very abrupt and told me that he was busy taking care of a sick cat. Being in health care myself, this treatment and attitude did not sit well with me. My experience was completely different at Bastet. Dr Basilious was thorough in his evaluation and found out that my kitten's primary problem was urinary crystals and not constipation. He took the necessary time to explain both Katia's diagnostic findings and treatment with me. Now, the treatment is completed and my cat is healthy. Dr. Basilious being a specialist, his services cost a little more than at a regular vet clinic. In spite of that, I highly recommend Bastet Cat Hospital for your cat care. Evelyne F

Ratings_icons Bastet Cat Hospital is Top Notch

Dr. Basilious gave us a lot of options to deal with our cat's liver failure. He Identified the problem (hepatic lipidosis) and laid out treatment plans and even tried to save us money. Yes it was "expensive" like you'll read below, but it was an expensive problem. He helped us design a treatment plan that would be good for our cat and cost us the least. He never minced words and we walked away saving our cat's life for a 1800 dollars instead of 6000 dollars. I've never had a routine check up there so I can't say one way or another if the below reviewer is correct. But I know that he didn't try to make money off of us and was very sensitive to our needs. Go here.

i have been going to Bastet Cat Hospital for about 7 years now. I have never had a negative experience. All of the staff members are professional, respectful, and handle my cat with compassion and care. Dr. Basilious is honest, knowledgeable, and experienced. There has never been a wait time, Dr. Basilious has been honest as to what is necessary for my cat and especially as to what i am able to afford financially. This facility is a great deal, and dont add on any unnecessary exams. I would not want to take my cat anywhere else. I would strongly recommend this facility to any cat owner.

Ratings_icons Best vet I've ever found

Pixie H.

I've been taking all of my cats to Dr. Basilious for over 10 years now- he's the best veterinarian I have ever found in my 35 years of pet ownership. My cats have always received the best of care, and he is always extremely patient and kind. Over the years, he has gone above and beyond what most vets would to care for my cats, especially my "problem kitty" who never would have had such a long and happy life without Dr. Basilious. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Ratings_icons A response to "J R."

Steve B.

Would you take your Lamborghini to Pep Boys? No you wouldn't. Sure, Pep Boys does some good work, but sometimes a specialist is needed. I have rescued several Cats over the years and if I'm not attached to it and I'm going to find it a home I don't go to Bastet, for the reason that the prices are a little higher some Vets, in the area. However, Dr. Basilious IS THE BEST and you do pay for that.

Another question for "J R.".

Would you take your own child to Tijuana for Brain Surgery? Don't answer that, here, if your answer is "yes". You'll only embarrass yourself.

No one who reviewed this vet talked about how much it cost. Sure you'll get "the best" care and you will pay for it...hundreds of dollars. Do not take your cat here for routine check-ups and blood work. A regular vet will charge you considerably less and provide you the same care and services. Emergencies only...sure. I am never going back there.

Ratings_icons A life saver!

Ian V.

I had been to several Vets, with 3 cats, in the S.F. Valley before I found Bastet. I heard about Dr. Basilious from a Co-Worker who talked about him with such great praise that I thought he had to be shilling for the guy. Not the case, as I would later learn.

I had a situation with a 14 year old cat who ballooned to 24+ pounds. Then, in less than 2 months dropped to less than 12 pounds. He was looking good, but I had a feeling that dropping that much weight in such a short time was not right. I needed a professional opinion.

Long story-Short...Dr. Basilious had to pull several teeth, that were poisoning "Whitey" and then he gave me some disturbing news...My cat had Diabetes.

I thought it was OVER for him, but through Insulin Shots, a Food Regimen and regular check-ups Dr. B. brought "Whitey" back to life. He's still hangin' in there and doing great at 18 years old.More than I could ever hope for.

Ratings_icons Best Veterinarian in LA Area

Sheri P.

My cat Bailey was a patient of Dr. Basilious for three years. I couldnt have asked for better care for my best friend. As a matter of fact I would tell Bailey he was getting the Cadillac of care. But really he was getting the Rolls-Royce of care.

As a clinician myself, I realize that one of the gold standards of care is to always provide the patient with conservative treatment first. If an effective treatment can be provided that enables the patient to experience the least discomfort than this treatment should be always be provided. This is true of all patients including humans, cats and dogs. Dr. Basilious practices this standard in a very methodical and thoughtful way and always provides compassionate, conservative care for his patients.

Something that is often overlooked in the medical profession is the importance of educating the patient. I cant begin to tell you how many hours Dr. Basilious painstakingly discussed Baileys condition with me and the treatment options and why those were the best treatment options. Any human being should be so lucky to have a doctor that takes this kind of time with them and makes this kind of effort.

I have had the experience of trying to find a veterinarian in the Los Angeles area in which I feel comfortable. This can be a very cumbersome and worrisome effort that in the past has not provided good results. Now, I feel a great deal of comfort in knowing that when I adopt another cat I know exactly where Ill take him or her for their medical care.

It is so wonderful to find a place that specializes in cats. Not only did my cat receive the best care, but the doctor also took the time to educated us on our cats condition, and how we can best care for him. They really do care here, and they pride themselves on service.

Ratings_icons Only The Best

Carlton B.

I've used a lot of vets for a lot of cats in my 55 years, and Dr. Basilious is one of the best ever. I had my doubts at first (dentistry as the first step in controlling renal insufficiency?) but I can't argue with success. My cat has lived very happily for four years with her kidney problems after another vet had given her 6 months - and with no pills, just food additives. Plus, he really cares about cats; it's more than just a business.

Ratings_icons The Best Place to Take Your Cats

Paula S.

I have been taking my cats to Bastet Cat Hospital for nearly eight years now and I recommend the hospital to everyone I know. First of all, it's a cat hospital . . . so I don't have to worry about barking dogs or other noise that would scare just about any kitty. Dr Basilious is a caring veterinarian who goes out of his way to explain his diagnoses and spends the time to explore all treatment options. He carefully considers his clients' wishes and circumstances and gives excellent advice on what's best for his feline patients. For TLC with no mystery, take your kitties to Bastet Cat Hospital.

Ratings_icons Surpassed my expectations for vet care!

Dr. Sam and his entire staff are warm and courteous everytime I stop in. I am confident that my cat receives the utmost care from the competent and compassionate staff at Bastet.
I regularly refer Bastet to my friends with cats as the staff is particularly skilled with all temperaments of felines. Dr. Sam goes out of his way to teach me something about my cat's health in every visit. It's always a pleasure!

Even my cat loves going to the vet now! This place is great for my kitty, and they always take great care of her. I took my kitty to many places before finding Bastet, and I am so happy I finally did. Love it!
