I was there last week to watch a band perform for some industry exec's and the "bouncer" was on an unnecessary power trip considering there were only 200 people and the house sound engineer was yelling at the band. Very unprofessional, but maybe that's what they were going for...guess they get paid minimum wage and just don't give a damn!

I was lucky enough to be part of the Whisky Booking office from the punk late 70's thru 1983. I consider this time to be the last great period of music on the Strip. Sure there have been a few other times when a great band or two came of

Pros: Excellent place to go to your favorite bands concert

Cons: Booking from month to month is horrid.

Went to hear a friend's band on a Friday night. Weird experience. They close down for over an hour to get ready to 'open' and kick EVERYONE out, including the band members. Not the friendliest people/employees. LOTS of rules...do this, you can't do that, etc. Very rushed to move bands in and out...hurry, hurry, hurry! WEIRD experience!

I visited the Whiskey on a Tuesday night to watch a local band. I was not happy about how unfriendly the bouncers at the door were. I'm 40 years old and they treated me as if I was a 16 year old punk trying to get in to party. I did like how the sound mixer was very concerned about how all the bands were sounding. They put reserved signs on the tables only for people that bought $100.00 or more at the bar. I would have bought more to drink if I had some where to sit, but I don't feel I need to commit to drinking that much just to sit down. It's a good place to go and watch your favorite band, but I wouldn't hang out there just for the fun of it.

What the hell happened? The bands aren't good, security treats folks like animals with searches for knives and guns, it draws hip-hop hoods with "bling" who try to sell CD's (and get violent if you don't buy), and the bookers are real

Pros: Soundman was pro, soundsystem was ok, club was better a few years ago. Gena was a better booker.

Cons: Used to be good, but it's almost "dive-like" now, aura of violence inside and out, very inconsiderate booking agents with attitude. Whisky has lost whatever it had.

So I went there to see a friend's band, which was awsome, but I was constantly irritateted by the staff and confused by the crowd. Now I'm old school, like 23, so I think rock concert I think movement- there was no movement from anyone,

I visited the Whisky on a Wednesday night so I'm not sure I got the best impression of the place. From what I heard, they have a variety of different bands to hear and their drinks are expensive. Not to mention, the bouncers patted us down as if we were crossing into a secure government facility, not a bar on sunset. It was a bit intimidating, especially for our friends who were guys. Environment was pretty fun, but I don't think I'd go there unless I had a good reason to...or I felt like having an experience worse than you get at the airport.

This is pretty much what you would expect from any Hollywood venue. There is a stage in one corner and a bar in the other. They also have an upstairs area with just a few tables and a second bar. They do not water down their a Parking of course really sucks because it is on Sunset. The bouncer at the door is really scary though.

I love this place. An intimate club/bar with a sweet sound system. Warning: It is loud. But for people like me, it's great! Feel the music and dance. The bar is decent, don't order anything real fancy, everything is served in a plastic

I went to the whisky a gogo to see the room. The band that was playing was pretty lame, but the place has a lot of history with everyone from the doors to X getting their start there. Drinks are more than they should be. Worth checking out

Great spot to catch a show. This very divey venue packs in the crowd. The upside? You get up close and personal with the band, and it sounds pretty damn good too. The downside? Spilled beer and long bar lines are always a drag. All in all,

What a great place to see a band. You might as well be on stage you're so close. Drinks are good. Don't worry about spilling, just try not to slip on the floor when everyone else does.
