5 Stars: Improvements at Jane's Cakes (by Sheila K.)

I was surprised at my recent trip to Jane's Cakes and Chocolates. They have had a complete face-lift thanks to the new owners, with even more inventory. Everything you need for baking or candy making is there. But here's the cool part, they now have baked goods you can buy to take home or eat in their cute courtyard just outside. Two Brothers Bakery and Desserts (inside Jane's Cake and Chocolate Supply as it is now called) have a thing they call a Dream Cake (really large cupcakes with filling and decadent toppings), plus cupcakes, mini cupcakes, caramel pretzels and apples, cookies, bars, scones and muffins. The have unusual soft drinks and all the regulars, and premium coffee to complete your dessert. If you get there early enough, there might also be a full-sized cake you can take home to your family. They do cakes of all types by special order and they only need a few days notice. Do yourself a favor and stop by this gem of a place in Montrose. By the way, they not only have everything you want, the staff is super nice!

5 Stars: Two Brothers Bakery & Dessert Company..AKA Jane's Cakes... five stars...!! (by Chi H.)

My personal experience to be described in words just can't do enough justice! I had a horse cake made by special order for a Children's Ranch. I was blown away by the flawless details. Required alot of patience and dedication to draw the horse. Beyond a cake, a piece of art!!! This was a gift, and Two Brothers Bakery & Dessert Company did me proud!! A.K.A Jane's Cakes... is under construction and will be opening up very soon! Bigger and better! For those who love to bake, its heaven. And for those who just want to relax with some sweet desserts, this is the place! Hidden is a cute courtyard.. I like to think of it as a "Hidden Treasure". This bakery not only offers sweet desserts, but the staff is even sweeter! My only tip is this... drive slow on the street and look out for a cake sign on the sidewalk.Cheers everyone.... check this place out!!!!

4 Stars: Same Great Stuff, New Greater Stuff (by Andrea B.)

I stopped by today- wow, are they making changes. The nice thing is that they are keeping all the great things we have come to know them for- the supplies we need to be bakers! They are getting the stock organized and increasing it. I hear they also are going to offer desserts and premium coffee starting next month. We can shop, then get a treat and enjoy it in the courtyard. I can't wait...

4 Stars: Jane's Cakes & Chocolates is Expanding (by Anthony B.)

In stopping by Jane's and then talking with friends I heard that new owners will be coming soon with some really interesting changes. I heard two guys are buying it, will be returning to a well stocked retail store with quality bakeware and expanding into a full bakery offering specialty cakes, sweet treats and desserts. I heard the hours will be expanded and more seating will be available in the courtyard. Rumor has it that the new owner's will there throughout September with the bakery open in October. Let me know if you hear anything else.

5 Stars: Terrific (by Joanne L.)

The owner of Jane's and all the employees provided accurate and practical information on making a wedding cake. The supplies needed were all available, the recommended amounts of icing (butter cream and fondant) were accurate. I asked multitudes of question both at the store and by phone and was always given the best information with friendly attitudes. It made the whole project fun and the cake was beautiful. Thanks to all at Jane's!

5 Stars: sweet! (by Tina C.)

I went into this store for the first time on Saturday and it really was a cute store. I admit I wasn't sure if I should stop in to pick up some supplies because of the bad reviews on here, but then I called for directions and the girl I spoke with was really nice and gave great directions. I had cake questions and the girl that helped me greeted me with a nice smile and helped me out right away (mind you I'm a first time baker) I felt confident when I left and when I got home to bake I did it! I was so proud of myself and I totally recommend this store to bakers! I couldn't have done it without Jane's!

4 Stars: Inspired to Bake (by Ricky P.)

Inspired to bake.. This store had amazing girls working there who helped me find everything i was looking for and gave me plenty of information on how to do a particular cookie I was trying to create. They were out of stock of one particular item but informed me where i could buy it and even called to see if the item was in stock.

1 Stars: Service (by Nicci G.)

The owner of Jane's really needs to spend more time in her shop. With the short hours there is no reason to leave your store to young girls who couldn't care less and have the knowledge in cake-making of a hardware store clerk. I do believe in supporting Small Business but I'm not going to just give my money where it isn't appreciated.

4 Stars: Very Friendly & Helpful (by Sherry S.)

I was in Jane's the other day and they couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. The minute I walked in I was greeted. I was given enough time to look around before I received the requisite "May I help you?" They didn't have the item I wanted but gave me several on-line suggestions on where to find it. Also, on of the women even made a call to verify that she had given me the correct information. I've shopped there for a couple of years and will always go back.

2 Stars: Changes at Jane's (by Colleen K.)

I went to Jane's this weekend to buy chocolate supplies. There were 3 girls in the shop but it took 10 minutes to check-out, even with no one else in line. I've been going to Jane's for at least 15 years and it has definitely gone downhill since new owners took over a few years ago. I used to go often because I liked the staff but now I only go when I have to because the staff is not helpful and they make me feel like I'm an intruder. It's a shame. They also changed their hours and for me it's inconvenient.

5 Stars: So Frustrating.... (by P S.)

Jane's is about the only place in the area to buy quality baking pans. The problem is that they poorly stocked and usually out of what I need. The sales girls can usually be found in the back either eating or talking on the phone. You get the impression you've walked in on a private party. On my last visit, 3 customers were in the shop and 1 sales girl who talked on her cell phone the entire time I was there. It was only after I stood in front of her for a few minutes that she finally asked if I needed help. I think from now on I'll just order my supplies on-line. Otherwise, always call first, and save gas, time and trouble.

5 Stars: Everything cakes!!!! (by Susan H.)

This shop is located in a darling courtyard. It is a favorite local supplier for everything cake-related-including equipment and decorating supplies. Jane's also p[ays host to cake-decorating classes. In addition, they also offer candy-making supplies and cookie cutters for any theme imaginable. There is plenty of parking available either on on the street (metered) or in any number of free local lots.
