I would like to pay respect to my teacher Shihan Gill Adams. I am one of Gills first students. I am please of the fact of him taking me under his wing and teaching me making me a grate jujitsuan as I am today. Not only did I find him to be a great teacher rather a good friend as well. He taught me tradition and techniques of secrets out of the goodness of his heart. I walk proud in the shadows of him and his teaching gave me the confidence and ability to blend in with traditional ways of Aiki Jujitsu. My ability is far more superior thanks to Shihan Adams than what it was when I met him. I love and respect my teacher and may God bless him in all he does. Sensei Farley

I just tried to check this place out, their phone is disconnected and I drove by the address listed and couldn't find them. I feel confident saying they're closed!

I checked out several well-regarded local martial-arts schools before choosing this one. If youre looking for a school in the Pasadena / L.A. area to learn self defense, this is it. Gil Adams, head instructor, is an 8th-degree black belt and personally teaches most classes. The curriculum is Japanese jujutsu -- utilized by elite warriors past and present -- emphasizing strategies as well as techniques to deal with violent attackers. The curriculum is designed to work against bigger, stronger attackers (single or multiple), both armed (knife, gun, stick, etc.) and unarmed. This school is a sensible choice for women and children since jujutsu does not rely on brute strength. Beginning students work directly with advanced students in a cooperative, non-competitive atmosphere; and Master Adams teaches with a lot of humor and patience. Law enforcement officers, security professionals and others seeking a system suited to California's stringent laws regarding use of force will benefit since jujutsu includes techniques to control as well as dispatch an attacker. This school teaches self defense only -- not sport fighting or other martial-arts competition, so students seeking competition should go elsewhere. After all, there are no referees or rules to save you if attached by a real criminal.

PROS: Proven self-defense curriculum taught in friendly dojo
CONS: Competition-minded students need not apply

This dojo teaches self defense and self defense only. There are no frills and belts and pretty things like that; it is a highly practical school oriented towards practical applications. The instructor here has taught all sorts of military and law enforcement types with an exemplary curriculum of hard hitting, logical, intelligent self defense.
