I don't think enough people even know this museum exists. It's in Pasadena and has a beautiful mural on the building. It has a lot of Asian art and materials. Great for a visit.

The museum has presented a number of art exhibitions tackling several different mediums, including photography, film and sculpture. It exhibits the largest collection of Japanese-American.

The Japanese American National Museum is a place that outlines the history of Japanese Americans. It was very interesting to see all the exhibits and to see how our children reacted.

This is a must see for anyone passing by downtown LA or Little Tokyo. It really gives a detailed account of Japanese Americans in the United States. It focuses a lot on the internment camps that happened during world war II. It actually has a replica of one of the "houses" that they had to live in. It was very moving for me as I am Japanese American and the tour guides are very helpful and informative.

The Japanese American Museum is a cool place to go inside of LA. They have various exhibits such as the current one that has a Taiko drummer during every other wednesday that shows you the meaning and sound of the powerful drum.

They also have an exhibition that is all about the Japanese incarceration during the WWII.

This is a wonderful museum to go to if you want to learn more about Japanese American history. My co-worker was interned when she was a child and it was really very interesting for me to see pictures of what she probably experienced. Although she received compensation from the U.S. government for the atrocity, I think it will always be a shameful treatment on the part of our government.

My friend works here in curatorial and I have gone to several of the rotating exhibits over the years. I took my dad to the permanent exhibit and he was choked up, we're not Japanese American but a friend of the family is and was interned in NorCal so we looked her up in the books they have. I have loved the exhibits they have had, Henry Sugimoto and Boyle Heights especially. It opens up so many new doors in my mind and helps me understand the history of the Japanese American community in our country and want to advocate more.

PROS: Exhibits, store, special events
CONS: Parking

don't miss to visit this museum. The building is a converted Buddhist temple that now houses the exhibits on everything from origami to teh internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II. Situated in LIttle Tokyo I am sure you will enjoy also the area and the restaurants.

This is a great museum to go and learn about the Japanese American history and culture. I had the pleasure to volunteer here once and I really enjoyed that experience. The layout and location is right in Little Tokyo so you can submerse yourself with the Japanese culture.

While the museum is a beautifully juxtaposed piece of glass-architecture next to a former stone and brick Buddhist temple that formerly housed it, the history housed at this site is just as much a marvel and educational experience. Rare photographs, barracks from the World War II era Japanese American internment, and multi-media displays make for a humbling learning experience. The museum store is also worth a visit, offering several videos, books, and even art.
