Stay Away
by Jay H.
I have a Toyota Certified Preowned Camry with 86000 miles and I have extended warranty until 100,000 miles. One morning, my Car did not start and I took it to Dublin Toyota on my way to work. My understanding was that there could be a fault on electrical as head lights were fine. The rep, Felipe said there is a charge of $150 for running complete diagnostic. I told him that I have a warranty. He asked me how much the deductibles is. I said $50. He then opened the engine door, and said battery was dirty; he then looked around to see how he can bill me extra. He started mentioning that I needed other services like Brake Fluid flush, etc. I agreed for brake fluid flush. I told him since I have still Warranty left on my car, I asked him to call me before taking up any service just in case if they don't cover the problem of not starting my car. He wrote the estimate of 300 total for diagnostic + brake fluid flush. He asked me to sign the estimate. I asked him why that 300? He told its just an estimate and showed me that he also mentioned $50 deductible. He told me that he will be checking on-line about the warranty and would call me. I dropped off my car and took a ride and came to my work. I did not get any call from him until 3. At around 3:00pm I got an voice mail to call him back. I called him and Felipe told me its a battery and the charges would be $169 to replace with a new Battery. I declined as it was too much. (Costco sells for $59 with 3 years warranty). Felipe said, okay, NP and said that my car is ready to pickup. When I went there, they billed me about $289 including charges of $150 for just to look at the battery without running a complete diagnostic. I told him that I don't accept the charges and told him that he was supposed to call me before charging me. He was insisting me that he called me to inform that the battery was bad. I asked for the Manager. The Manager (Larry) came and without listening first, rudely said the charges are payable. I paid whatever they asked and I will not go next time and not even my 3 other co-works who had the same level of experience with them before and also 2 of my neighbors.Stay Away from these dealership. Go else where and have a peace of mind.

Service Dept. Fraud
by Jim A.
I recently serviced my new Camry Hybrid at Dublin Toyota and ordered a new keyless fob to replace my lost key. The key fob alone cost over $300! When I got home and looked at the "new" key I realized that the fob was a used fob that was just reprogrammed for my vehicle. I called to complain but they just passed me around between parts and service and finally put me in voicemail.
Clearly a fraudulent service department! Do not service your vehicle at Dublin Toyota.

Poor Service
by Lisa D.
Recently contacted the service department about a broken driver side window and was passed around from service to parts and back to service where my phone message was not returned.
I called back the next day and was told my 2006 Hylander is not under warranty since it has over 36k miles and it would cost $150 to just look at the problem. Funny thing is that the same thing happened last year to the passager side window. I took it to a local service provider who did not charge anything to figure out the problem!
I had a similar experience when purchasing the vechicle from this same dealership. These people are rude and difficult to deal with on any issue.

Don't go to Dublin Toyota
by wasim k.
I took my Sienna to Dublin Toyota on 6/21/08 for service and had a BAD experience. The service advisor was very very rude. The problems weren't fixed either. Worst part was that they didn't even try to fix it. When I complained to the Service Manager about the rude behavior, he took his employee's side. I was so unhappy that I was going to report the incident to Toyota. And I told him that. That's when he offered to waive the charges. I will not talk to Toyota but I don't think I'll be going back to Dublin Toyota unless that's the last Toyota dealership on earth.

The Cashiers in the Parts/Service area
by Brian P.
I went to purchase an oil filter for my 07 Prius. The parts guy in the parts shop was great at informing me that the price for the oil filter was $9 bucks until I mentioned that Toyota in Walnut Creek was selling them for less than $4ea. All of a sudden the part was on sale for $4.95 when I said no thanks. Then, when I went to pay for the $4.95 filter at the cashiers office, the blond bimbos were refusing it and having attitudes about me using a credit card! OMG, Give me a break! I'll never go there again. Period. I'd rather drive 30 miles out of my way to WC than to deal with the BS.

Their service department is Horrible!
by Denise V.
We purchased a new 2007 Toyota Sienna LE in March of '07. The sales person was great, that part was wonderful. However there were some scratches in the paint and the leather on one of the seats was torn. They only paint on Thursdays and the appointment we had to fix the issues was on a Thursday, however it was raining so they could not fix the paint. Understandable. The next visit it was clear and they fixed the paint. The service man opened the door for my husband and sent him on his way. When he got home, he noticed a dime sized dent in the door right above the handle, which was not there when we dropped it off. I immediately made a call. And another, and another, and another. Finally I called Toyota USA, was given a case number and finally received a call from Dave Rocha the service manager. Told him the problem, it went in, and they painted it. It looks like someone painted it with ceiling texture paint. It is the worst fix job I have ever seen. Again I called Dave Rocha and left several messages to which he has not returned a call yet. I am about to take it in for a service. This is there last chance and then I will be taking it to Tracy Toyota which has given us fabulous service (were leaving for Disneyland and wrecked a tire, they stayed open late to install a new tire, gave the kids snacks, let them play video game, and called our cell phone the next day to make sure we did not have any problems with the tire). I am only going to Dublin at this point to get the issue fixed and then it will be Tracy from now on I think.

I had done internet research for a 2009 Corolla. I was preapproved for a loan by my bank, so I knew what to expect. I had even requested quotes from three dealerships.
I went to Dublin Toyota as I bought my last car there several years ago. The sales guy was ok (it was his first day on the job). When we sat down, I made an offer close to what I was seeing on the internet. The finance guy came back, scribbled out my price and circled the sticker price. He said since it was a new type, there was no discount. They estimated my monthly payments to be close to $400 !!. I asked what percentage rate they were using, and never got an answer. I told him I was preapproved by my bank and the rate my bank gave me. They did some more calculations (aka - make me wait). The finance guy then came back and asked what I was looking for as far as monthly payments. I told him what I expected, and he replied that he was only $40 dollars more a month...??? I asked him once again what APR they were using, since they knew my rate and what I would be paying, but never got an answer.
At this time, I was saved by my cell phone. A salesperson from another dealer responded to my internet request for a quote. After 30 seconds, I was offered the list price and financing at 2.9%.
I then had to ask the finance person twice to get my keys and loan approval form back. I explained why I was leaving. They questioned how another dealer could offer me 2.9%. Another salesperson overheard our discussion and ran into the back, and gave the floor mananger and finance person a notice that 2.9% was the correct rate for that year and model I was asking. The floor manager then had the nerve to tell me he could beat what I had been offered on the phone. I explained that not only was I saving over $2,0000 by talking to someone else for 30 seconds, I was treated with respect and honesty, which is not what I experienced so far by the staff in Dublin.

Another good experience
by Mike W.
I just traded in my 03 4Runner for an 07 4Runner and received excellent customer service from my salesman Ahmad. This is the second vehicle I have purchased at Dublin Toyota and have been treated well both times. Of course it's a little stressful at times haggling for price but that's just the nature of car buying. Ahmad was up front and honest with me as I was with him and I'm pretty happy with the deal I received. Fyi everyone, I hear that Ferrari dealers have a God complex with their customers and they're buying 200k cars. I've also dealt with service a lot and also had a positive experience.

I bought my fifth car (and hope it will be the last) here at Dublin Toyota. At first, I wanted the Matrix that was stick shift but I changed my mind coz I live in Frisco. So, I take a look again and I found the car I wanted - it was slightly used. I liked it. Test Drove it and we bought it. The salesman (Johnny) told us that the car was single owned and didnt have any minor damages or major accidents. We went home and few months later, I found out that it had many accidents = 14 total and this car makes noise (squeak) when I reverse. So I brought it to SF Toyota, they fixed it. But a few months again, there it was a squeaking sound. Ok fine! I got it. I learned my lesson = not to shop at Dublin Toyota because their salesman are full of it. I need some trustworthy people! I wouldnt recommend people to shop here.

Car salesman = Liars
by michelle m.
Bought an 2004 Toyota Tacoma from Dublin. They are supposed to have a million point inspection but forgot a few main things. They sold the truck to me with disfunctional brakes. The star wheel was completely turn in which is something that is supposed to be checked during the inspection. They sent me off with a half tank of gas. A week or two later I get a letter saying I need to bring my car in because they didn't smog it, weigh it or even verify the vin. This is a half an hour drive each way. I took to another dealership (capitol toyota) who said they completely missed a few things that should've been caught in the million point inspection. I take it back again and have it completely looked over again, supposedly anyways. The day I took it home it was making a horrible grinding noise which I didn't hear until later because I was playing my music. My friend pointed out the horrible screaching/metal on metal noise. I take it in to Capitol because they are closer, they find that Toyota didn't fix what they said they had. Dublin Toyotas service manager Dave Rocha authorizes a break flush which I hear because he is on speaker phone, when that subject gets brought up he denies ever approving it although I heard it and he gave a PO number for it. I call Dublin and ask to set up a meeting with a manager whose name I can't remember. Another gentleman walks up by the name of Steve (found out later not who I thought it was) and never corrects us when we call him by the name of the man we were supposed to talk to. They passed me from manager to manager of same rank. I wrote a note to the general manager and asked for him to call me, Steve promised he would receive it. When I sat down to talk to Mr. Rocha, he had the note. The note was never given to the general manager that oversees everything. Does he even exist?? I purchased my truck in February of 07 and to this day 09/20/07, they have not been able to diagnose the noise. I have gone in 7 times in the last 7 months. I even recorded the noise on a camcorder, this noise has not been diagnosed. I'm stuck with a truck that makes a horrible screeching noise which can be heard by anybody I am passing. DO NOT GO TO DUBLIN TOYOTA, THEY HAVE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!

We drove an hour and half to Dublin Toyota as they had assured us they had the exact car we wanted, color, equipment, etc,, on the lot and they would hold it for us. We called while en route to Dublin and said we would arrive shortly and they assured us the car was sitting on the lot ready to go. When we arrived we were told that car was damaged so badly they couldn't sell it however, salesman couldn't find the car when we asked to see the damage. Salesman called and ordered another car from another dealer and told us we would get it next day. Next day he called and said the other dealer sold it and there was no car, like we wanted, to be found anywhere. A San Jose dealer found the car for us, a couple of hours later, at the same dealership that Dublin Toyota claimed had sold it. To date we have not heard from Dublin customer service on these issues. There are some classy Toyota dealerships, but they're not in Dublin, Ca.

We have been to Dublin Toyota several times. Most of the time, all went well. The people were helpful.
CON: To make a long story short, it took a total of 5 or 6 trips to get a window fixed.
Pro: The dealership graciously offered a beautiful loaner while the van's window was in the shop.

Kenneth Tam is the man to see
by Charles S.
Hello everyone, I just got my new 2007 Corolla LE from Dublin Toyota.
I researched exactly what I wanted and got the invoice price Edmunds.com.
Then I emailed several San Francisco Bay area Toyota dealers asking for their best quotes. I sent emails to Hayward Toyota, Walnut Creek, Oakland, Sunnyvale, Toyota 101
I listed the exact model I wanted:
2007 Corolla LE, AT
VV Audio 6 CD system
BE Front and rear side airbags
And I told him I wanted either silver, gray, or desert sand colors
Ken Tam responded right away with an email (within an hour)
He listed the car they had in stock: either med gray or dark gray color
2007 Toyota Corolla LE (1822) Automatic
Options: FE AW BE AB VV CF
(VV) Audio Value Package
(AW) Alloy wheels
(BE) Driver & pass side & side curtain airbags
(AB) Anti-lock brakes
(VV) Audio value package-6cd changer, cruise control
(CF) Carpet Floor Mats
His price was about $750 under invoice. I checked on edmunds.com
Was it too good to be true? I head of stories of bait and switch, So I asked for confirmation if he had the car in stock to buy today, and I also asked for a total price out the door, showing all tax, and fees. Ken emailed back right away, price, sales tax, fees for registration, doc, and tire fees. The total price was good.
So I called him up and faxed him my preapproval letter from my credit union. I told him I was ready to close the deal quickly and I did not want to deal with delay tactics from the dealer's finance dept guys.
I met him the same day at Dublin Toyota, and Ken let me test the exact car, it was ready and waiting. Ken processed the sale quickly. He was very professional and the numbers were exactly what he listed in the emails. No tricks and no funny business.
I just had to wait a while for the finance dept, since Ken did not handle that part of the sale. It was a long wait, but I was fine since I knew I was saving $750 under invoice. I just waited in their service dept with a TV and free coffee and tea.
The finance guy was also pretty professional. He had to do his pitch about service plan, and extended warranty. I told him politely no thanks.
Since I had my own credit union financing, I did not have to play games with the dealer financing. I got a good rate from Lockheed Fed Credit Union.
So I was done after about total of 2 hours. Not too bad. And I got the exact price and car that Ken listed in the email.
Would I buy from Ken again? YES!!!
Would I recommend him? YES!!!
Thanks for reading my post. At first I read the negative reviews about Dublin Toyota, but it turns out everything was great. Just know that car salesman move from dealership to dealership, so don't be scared away by bad reviews. Find a responsive person who replies honestly in their emails, and see if you can get all the final details down, do this all by email.
Be prepared, know exactly what you want, get the prices down in email, and talk to Ken Tam. Also get your own financing ready before you go.
I'm an actual customer, not a fake. So I hope give more business to Ken. He's a breath of fresh air amid all the foulness in the car biz.
Oh another thing, Ken was a real standout in how he responds to emails. So that's why I chose to go deal with him. I only got another email response from Walnut Creek toyota, and the numbers they quoted didn't even add up. sheesh.
You can email me if you have any questions. My email address is sfninersfan at gmail.com

Brake Problems
by Anonymous
My wife had her Sienna minivan serviced at Dublin Toyota. They told us that the front brake pads needed to be replaced, but the back brake pads were good until the next service (typically every 4 months based on the miles the minivan is driven).
Six weeks later, the back wheels started making a very loud noise. My wife took the van to Dublin Toyota where they told her that she had no brake pad left and that it would cost about $550.00 to replace the rotors and install new brake pads.
Based on the wear rate of the front breaks (which should be worse case), the back breaks should have been OK for at least 6 months. We told Dublin Toyota that they must have made a mistake when they measured the rear brake pads last time and they wouldn't respond. We have sent them a letter to ask for them to pay for the rotors and their installation, as their replacement should not have been necessary. We'll see what they say.

Bad people all around, unlicensed people
by ab c.
I was waiting for my car to be brought up after service. I heard an alleged manager talking (all he is able to do). He was asking what to do about the lot attendants without drivers licences! WHAT?! How does one become a lot attendant without a license. The service writers seem not to care about their customers. They don't respond in a manner consistent with customer service. The person who helped me was more interested in a mechanics CD or DVD than helping me with my problem. They were talking about how good it was. I wish they would have put that much energy into fixing my vehicle! I get the impression that unless you spend loads of money with this dealership, you get the blow-off. My vehicle was in for a minor issue, in my opinion, and still under factory warranty. Yet I was told I needed to leave my vehicle overnight. I left my vehicle and called the next day. I was told they were too busy to look at my vehicle today???, and gave me some song and dance. I left it for another day.The adviser called and said my vehicle was ready.I arrived and had to wait over 25 minutes for my car to be brought up. While I was waiting I took a look in the work area. I was appalled at what I saw and heard. People yelling and screaming profanities. Talking and running around, and TALKING ON THE PHONE. Multiple people were on the phone while "working" on cars. How can a person talk on the phone and concentrate on work is beyond me. Now I know why they were too busy, couldn't get their mechanics off the phone. When my vehicle finally arrived I asked the person if they had a license. They gave a nonsense answer and left quickly. As it turns out they totally blew me off. My car still had the same problem.I took my business elsewhere. Walnut Creek Toyota had my car fixed in 35 minutes from the time I dropped it off.The management of Dublin Toyota should be fired and replaced with monkeys. Would be a GREAT improvement.sincerely,NOT COMING BACK EVER!!!

Internet Sales Dept was okay. Finance Dept can bite me.
by Randy F.
I bought a Yaris Liftback from these guys only because it hit their lot first. If another dealer had called me, I would have gone there.
I thought the Internet Sales guys was nice enough. He was certainly very fair; no tricks, no number switching, and his emails were prompt. I qualified for a discount as a recent college grad, but to prove it, he made me disassemble my professionally-framed diploma for a photocopy.
When it came time to get my contract written up, though, I was left waiting in the lobby for 45 minutes. This was around 7 pm on a weekday. There were two managers working, but only one seemed to be doing anything. When I finally got into the office, he pitched me the pre-paid maintenance and extended warranty stuff with the usual slime-ball tactic of conflating minor problems into huge expensive costs, and scribbling numbers all over a tiny brochure. He also told me that if I waited until next month (this was on 11/28) to make a decision, the prices would have gone up. To his credit, he did can it when I told him to (less than a minute into each offer).
Again, because of the scarcity of the model (and the fact that my old car had become un-drivable), I would have bought this car anywhere. I won't be returning for service, and definitely not to buy another car.

Will I was going to go there to buy a new car....
by Lindy C.
But after reading these other reviews and customer experiences, I will look elsewhere.
Just FYI - not all Toyota dealerships are bad. I just moved from Texas and I loved my Toyota Dealership there, I bought 2 brand new cars and it was excellent customer service and I was very satisfied. I am glad this website is here, I would have made the mistake of going to this one. Thanks to all of you that took the time to let others know.

I brought my car here for oil change 3 times. The 1st time I thought the rep had a bad day although it was in the morning, but for the 2nd and 3rd time the different reps all were full of attitude. They told me that the car had some issues that have to be fixed, but the other Toyota inspected the car and said the car is fine.
Recently I am looking to buy a new car. Despite the bad experiences with the service department, I gave the dealership another try. The sales rep was as stuck up as he could be. It was like I was begging him to let me buy a car.
Try Toyota in Walnut Creek or in Fremont instead!

I took my car in for some repairs because my toyota camry was acting funny. They give me a call to tell me that it will cost 800 dollars to fix, and i figure at least the car would run and my problems would be gone. As I drive home, my car stalls and i pull over to the side of the freeway. I only live 20 miles away from the dealership. I call them and they tell me to tow the car back to the dealership and they'll see what's wrong. They said they'll also give me a rental car for free So i pay loads of money for a tow truck (this is after i paid 800 dollars for repairs) and when i get to the dealership, they closed everything for the night!
They paid me back for the tow truck but I went to my friend who is a mechanic and he told me that they didn't really fix anything.
Beware of this place!

I found this particular Toyota dealership to be very dishonest. I was taking my Toyota there for oil changes for a couple of years because they changed the oil quickly. Then, every time I went in, they were telling something major was wrong with my car. On several occations, I then took my car to another mechanic who I trusted and he said, there was nothing wrong with the car.
Also, when we were recently looking to buy a car, we test drove at this dealership. It was a horrible experience and when we tried to leave without buying a car, the sales associate tried to guilt us by saying "he would be fired if we didn't buy the car!" Unbelievably bad experence.

I bring my car there for service and I tell them I need it before 3pm and the service person told me that it should be fine. Finally, they call me at 3:30pm.. When my friend drives me there, a service guy said my friend does not park his car straightly enough to fit in the parking space. When I look at his car, his car is inside the parking line, which should be fine. Then I discover Dublin toyota actually jam their cars very tightly into their spaces. Like 5 cars in 4 parking space so they can display more, I do not like their services and attitude..
