I guess it didn't do that well. I enjoyed the selection of books, music, and movies, but it closed down very recently, unfortunately. I'm not sure if it moved or is permanently shut down but for future reference, the Eastwind Bookstore in San Francisco is still open. I'm sad to see this one go, but if you're looking for a Chinese book in the area, you can pay a visit to the UCLA bookstore. They can even place a special order for you!

This place has books and items of an Eastern flavor. When you walk in, you'll find a lot of asian DVDs to your left and as you enter there are items like tea sets, Asian utensils and kitchenware, but the real draw of this place are the books. Focused on Asian and Asian-American works (philosophy, psychology, history, etc), there is a wide selection for people interested in this subject. Also, the selection of journals are not so bad either. Worth checking out at least. And just aside from the bustle of the Westwood Village.

A rather recent addition to the Westwood scene, this bookstore is fast becoming a destination for students of culture and ethnicity. The collection needs to be broadened to include the diversity of Asian and Pacific Islander cultures in America and around the world, but with the rapid demise of independent bookstores, it has a lot of potential to fill a void.
