I bought a used car that turned out to be a lemon and couldn't get my money back. It was a nightmare until i brought it over to sola motor works and they saved the day. Javier was very nice and gave me a great deal.

This was my first experience with Sola Motor Works and I have nothing but praise for them. I had a great deal of work done to my BMW 5 series and they helped me out all along the way. I will continue to have my BMW serviced at this facility! Don't hesitate to take your car to them. Avoid high priced dealer service and their snooty attitudes. The guys at Sola Motor Works will take car of you!

Javier Sola is not a man of his word. Two days after paying over $200 for a repair my vehicle returned to the broken state. I called and was told I would be refunded my money on Monday. Instead on Monday morning I received a call from Javier yelling at me telling me he would do no such refund and that I was trying to extort him. I only want my car to run properly and it is not. By calling and starting a conversation with harsh words and no chance at resolution, they have lost a customer who was loyal for many years. The customer is not a concern at Sola - only that they make a buck regardless of what the repair is. DO NOT USE SOLA MOTOR WORKS!

I've been taking all my cars to Sola Motor Works for over 14 years. They are a small town shop ready and eager to help you with any car problems you may be having. If you are unhappy with your current mechanic or worse off Dealership(as I was) why not give Sola a try. He's been at the same location for over 25 years offering very reasonable prices, while maintaining a professional stanards.

I just went on this site to confirm the phone number for Sola Motor Works for inputting in my new phone. I suppose people are entitled to their opinions, but the few negative reviews I've read make no sense to me. I have been a totally satisfied customer of Sola for 20 years. I take all of my vehicles--foreign and domestic--there and would not trust anyone else with them. Sola is absolutely honest, fair, courteous and competent. In short, it is the finest repair and service facility I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I have referred dozens of customers over the years to Sola. All of those customers are extremely satisfied and have also become loyal customers. You can and should count on Sola Motors Works!

On December 10, 2008 I took my Lincoln into Sola Motor works for an oil change. When I picked up my car several hours later I was told that I owed $131.00. I complained and they reduced to bill to $83.00. when I left I discovered that someone had run into something red with the right side of the front bumper. I went back and discovered that the racks they put the cars up on were in fact red. I wonder where the scratch came from? Be that as it may I then called the local Lincoln dealerships and inquired as to how much an oil change should cost. I was informed by both local dealerships that an oil change was $29.95. I called the owner of Sola Motor Works to inquire as to why I was charged almost three times the dealership rate and was told he was out and would return my call. When he called back he was very rude and irate and told me no one had dented my car and that he had performed a safety check on my car and that was why I was charged so much. He very rudely told me to come back and he would refund the difference and never to bring my care there again. To his credit he did refund the $53.00 after I complained. Now I only have to repair the dent. What a great deal. So if you want to pay 3 times the going rate for your repairs by all means go to Sola Motor Works.

I took my Lincoln there for an oil change. When I picked it up I was told the charge ws $131.00. When I complained the bill was reduced to $83.00. After leaving I discovered that my right front bumper had a really bad scratch and dent that had bee caused by something with rust red paint. When i went back I discovered that their lift racks were the same color as the paint on my bumper. I wonder what happened there???? I called back to speak to the owner who very rudly stated that his people did not dent my car and that the additional charge was for checking the car out for safety concerns. I called two local Lincoln dealerships and was advised that an oil change was $29.95 at both and both did safety inspections as a service to their customers. They find additional repairs by doing this. Javier Sola was very rude to me on the phone and told me he would refund the overcharging for the oil change and never to bring my care in there again. Not to worry that won't happen. So in closing if you need your car dented and feel you really need to pay 3 times the dealership rate for service then by all means this the place you have been looking for. Me I think I will go back to the dealership and pay full retail. It's a lot cheaper and you don't have to take your car to the body shop afterwards.

Pros: Thumbs Down!!!!!!!!!!

Cons: No body shop to repair their mistakes and absolutly no parking and very cramped entrance. I can see why someone dented my car; there is no room

Extremely poor. Took my BMW 325 to them and asked them to thoroughly inspect it and recommend necessary repairs since it had been sitting for a few years. They did identify many needed repairs and performed that work fairly well. However, I had just changed the oil and filter a few days earlier and specifically told them not to do it. They did anyway and charged me for it. More importantly I asked them to make sure they check the brakes, which they did, and they told me there was 30% remaining on the pads and that everything else regarding the brake system was fine. When I had another mechanic inspect the car a few days later he showed me a cracked brake hose and pointed out the pads were worn almost down to the rotor (i.e., NOT 30% of the pads left, more like 2-3%). He also pointed out several other necessary repairs that Sola totally missed.
About 2 weeks after they repaired the A/C the air wasn't cold anymore which means there's a Freon leak. Even though Sola assured me after they first supposedly tested the system that it was only low on Freon and there were no leaks, I brought it back to them and they said the compressor is leaking. Why didn't they catch that during the first A/C inspection (which they charged me for)? So, I had them replace the compressor only because their location is conveniently located close to my work, otherwise I would have had the work done elsewhere. Note they did not give me a credit for the Freon ($130) from the first attempted repair.
Also, in both cases they would not provide a detailed written estimate, only a verbal one over the phone. In both cases the final bills cost more than the verbal estimate.
Bottom line is that this shop will rip you off. I highly recommend to NEVER use them. I sure won't.

Well, after reading all the shining reviews, I took my car here. Biggest mistake ever. The tow truck that brought my car in, scratched the underside of the nose of my Jaguar XK8 to shreds trying to get up the steep, narrow drive. The owner told me it should have been a flatbed - after the fact, of course.

They had it for almost a week and he had me convinced the engine needed replacing, but I would have to pay of it prior to the warranty company paying for it. Since it would be such a big job an would be covered by my extended warranty, I took it to Jaguar (on a flatbed this time). When we got it there, they opened up the hood to find that the engine had been totally dismantled and the bulk of it was in the trunk.

Turns out the engine was merely flooded and my car will be ready tomorrow.

I can't say enough kind words about Javier Sola and his crew. They are polite, respectful and great mechanics. I brought them my rare 1992 Subaru SVX and he has worked with it to make it come back to life. Many shops would not touch the car, but Javier looks forward to the challenge. Their prices are reasonable and they are usually able to complete repairs the day I drop off the car.

The only downside is the space is very limited and tight and parking is nonexistent

This is a wonderful small little shop that has been there forever. The staff is very nice and are very eager to help you out with anything that you need. Since it is family owned business, ,they have a lot of the small town feel. They definitely do not rip you off. They are supremely honest and really seem like they care about you and your car problems. Definitely a gem in this town.

The Solas are old friends of mine, I can assure they are honest, hard working people. They specialize in foreign and exotic cars like Jaguars and DeLoreans. Often they have done work for celebrity cars, but don't be afraid to bring yours in too.

PROS: Small business attitude
CONS: Small area

Sola Motor Works has a little shop on PCH right down from the Albertsons and AIS building. This family owned business is friendly and helpfull when working on your car and they always do a good job at a good price. They're honest and you'll get your car fixed in a speedy fashion.
