Some of the best beef that you will ever eat is served here, some is even locally grown. Cowboy motiff with a view of the ocean if you are dining outside. One of my favorite things about McLintock's is unique way they fill your water glass, usually with your server standing behind you and they pour it over your head! Reasonably priced but can't eat here daily on a students budget. Suggest reservations!

McClintocks is a great steak house. Their food is unbeatable and it is impossible to walk out of here hungry. The steaks and sides are perfect from the onion rings to the dinner salad to the potatoes. They even include dessert or an after dinner liquor- go for the house specialty- the Tan Ferrari! Don't miss this place!
Insider tip- the Pismo dining house is the best- the other locations are not so great.

After being at Lake San Antonio for the weekend, our group of 12 was heading back home and decided to grab a meal together on Sunday afternoon. We had heard about McLintock's and decided to make a stop. It was a great choice. The restaurant is on the East side of the 101 on the hill and we were seated in a room that overlooked the ocean. First, instead of bread, they put onion rings on the table. Then, with your meal, you get a salad, ranch beans, skillet potatoes, and a dessert (ice cream or dinner liqueur). I ordered the 24oz porterhouse (done medium) and others at the table ordered the 14oz rib eye w/ gorgonzola (done medium). The steaks were amazing! They were tender, juicy and flavorful. I wanted to lick the plate. I tried someone else's steak (the rib eye) and I liked that better than my porterhouse. The sides were a bit heavy and many in the group said they felt stuffed after the 4 courses. I and another woman shared the meal (not split because that's another 12.95 added to the $36 meal) and felt fine afterwards. For each adult at the table, 1 kid eats free. We had 8 adults and 4 kids and the bill came to $260 ($300+ w/ tip). Seems pretty reasonable for a steakhouse. As far as ambience and entertainment, the restaurant has this thing about pouring water where they try to get as far away from your cup as they can without missing the glass and as soon as you take a sip of your water, they want to show you their skills and fill it back up. At the end of the meal, they offered to do a trick with a willing participant: put a glass on your head and while blindfolded, pour water in the glass. It was very funny and they succeeded. The whole room was clapping. Inside the restaurant looks like a lodge with stuff animals mounted all over the place. There was definitely a lot to look at while you're seated. Service was great, people were nice. Overall, a great experience.

Pros: Great Steaks and Great Overall Experience

Cons: A lot of greasy sides; a lot of food for just one person; may feel stuffed after meal

I left hungry. My ribs were so dry that they were stuck to the bone. The only plus: the service was great. But after waiting 2 hours to be seated, not even the excellent service will bring me back to a place that serves horrible food. Honestly the WORST meal I have ever eaten in a restaurant...anywhere! Others say to try it again, I just caught them on a bad night, but I won't make that mistake twice.

One of my favorite things about McLintock's is the service and the way they serve you. Last time I got my water glass filled with the fella standing behind me, pouring it over my head! Its a fun atmosphere and great steak!

I grew up in that area and ate there before I graduated from High School (79). For the frist 15 of those years it was the number 1 pick for any family special occassion. The beans, onion rings and skillet potatoes are still great. There has been a marked decline in the quality of the beef though. It used to be aged on the premisses but now the quality of the beef has gone down and we have to ask for it unseasoned, good beef doesn't need anything but a little salt and pepper. Only one time in probably more than 100 visits over 30 years have we had to send back our food. I was cooked way too fast . But it is still among the family choices for special outings but others such as Jocko's is now in the race.

Pros: awsome side dishes, all you can eat sides, large portions

Cons: Parking, occassional long wait

McLintocks has more than one location in the Central Coast. My husband likes the meat more than I do. I always find it way too dry though better than average. The rest of the food is average to good, not great. The service is very unimpressive and the prices are on the high side. The ambience is okay. All in all I will take Jocko's first.

I love this place. The steaks are great, the ribs are great, and the chicken is unbelievable. The beans and the potatoes are second to none and nobody leaves hungry (unless maybe you're a vegetarian). Also, try getting the servers to pur water into a glass while you hold it on your head, that's always a good time. All around, this is one the best places to eat...anywhere.
