I have gone to this Venue several times. After all, some great people gig there. Little by little word on the street is DO NOT GIG THERE, EVER! The bartender is the only real person in the entire establishment. If however you are the sort of person to go someplace to stroke your ignorant ego, THIS IS YOUR KIND OF PLACE! iF YOU LIKE TO BE OVERCHARGED FOR FOOD AND DRINK in order to feel better than everyone else you will just LOVE this spot. If you are the guy or gal who is quite certain that your bathroom never stinks my friend, you have found your perfect spot. If you are at all REAL

Thursday nights is a great night to go out and have a drink with friends. Spazio's has some great options. Inside, live jazz, and a little formal. Outside, a DJ playing everything from Deep house to the Jackson Five and everything in between. The patio is wonderful. Every song that came on I said, "I Love this Song!"
Together with their Late night happy our, you just cant go wrong on a Thursday.

I went to Spazio's to enjoy an evening of great music and delicious food and was shocked when my expectations were surpassed. I cam in around 8:30 p.m. on a Tuesday evening and was pleasantly surprised to see a packed bar. The bartender was very proficient and well versed in the world of spirits. The food was absolutely fabulous. I started with the Tuna Tartar and it melted in my mouth. I then followed it with the Mediteranean Fettucine and was astonished at the taste. A real treat for anyone looking for a great evening. I will be back alot.

Driving up and down Ventura Blvd, I always see this place, and they just put up new Happy Hour signs that grabbed my eye. So I went in by myself to see what the hype was all about. I was greeted by a beautiful friendly I think Russian hostess who was classy and helpful who said I can do Happy Hour at the bar. I then met a very cool bartender who was from NY like myself (always nice). I was not sure what I wanted and she suggested a Espresso Martini, and wow!!!! That got me, plus the half off Kobe sliders really got the spot. The place was very elegant with a good vibe, def a place I want to come to for a romantic evening!

Last night I was in the mood for Italian food and my boyfriend suggested Spazio. He said he had been there a year or so ago and the experience had been a good one.

Well, a lot has changed in a year. And I wish I had read the most recent user reviews on this site.

The service was almost non-existent and when it was there, it was terrible. The food was mediocre at best, but we didn't even eat it all because the way my boyfriend and I were treated, made us lose our appetites.

My boyfriend and I have both worked in restaurants before and understand how many times and in many different ways things can go wrong. But this was a time when everything went wrong and nobody at Spazio took responsibility for it. There were problems with the kitchen, the servers and the management.

It is not okay to allow your patrons to wait for 10 - 20 minutes for water and to order. It is not okay to bring out one appetizer and then wait 20 minutes to bring out the other one and having the patron ask three times for the missing appetizer. It is not okay to make patrons wait for 15 minutes for their check after they have asked for it twice (as I overheard at the disgruntled table next to us), NOR is it okay to blame the patron for your own mistake.

And certainly, it is not okay to come up and ask the table that you have neglected all night, if you can take something off the check to make us for the horrible service they have received. You either have the manager take something off or you ignore the situation, but you do not put the customer in that position!

Obviously, we are never returning to Spazio and will let others know that they should not waste their money on a place that has no respect for food and their customers.

I recently spent an evening of great music, well-poured drinks, and delicious food at Spazio's in Sherman Oaks,CA. I was very satisfied with the Stardust Martini as well as the Pistacio Crusted Salmon and the bartender made me feel at home. The music was pleasant and I even recognized some of the songs. I would come back again and again. I was told that Spazio's will be offering a Happy Hour starting in May. In addition, they were very excited about their upcoming wine tasting evenings. I almost forgot but the desserts at Spazio's are extraordinary. They offer a "Profiterole" made from scratch and tastes like Heaven. Spazio's is a gem hidden in San Fernando Valley.

This restaurant's Sunday brunch is out of this world. They have a huge selection of every type of food I could think of, and then some more that I never would have. The quality was excellent, and the price was what I expected, though it was not cheap. But it makes a wonderful environment for a date, or a special occasion with (adult) family.

As mentioned... Recent service and food was horrible, no doubt. But the real disappointment was the lack of response by management. Restaurants have bad nights, we know that. And sometimes the staff is required to actually do their jobs and make customers feel comfortable, regardless of their problems in the kitchen. Management should do us all favor and resign. Respect your hard-earned money enough to not throw it away on businesses that don't deserve it.

We too were victims of this Valentines Day embarrassment. After waiting almost 45 minutes for our first drink, I couldn't help but feel relieved that my boyfriend and I have been dating for some time. Because I honestly don't know how any couple could have survived and handled this disaster with the dignified behavior required during the 'getting to know you' phase. And if your relationship was on the rocks before you walked in, I am almost certain it is now more strained than ever.
The service was non existent. The food was mediocre at best and some dishes, we strongly suspect, were microwaved. Once other couples started leaving, the wait staff had more time to dedicate to each table and it appeared that the managers thought the best thing to do at this point was attempt to overwhelm us with champagne top ups. Perhaps we might get too drunk to remember these good times? Sadly, we did not.
In addition to the bad food and service, the place was extremely cold. I, like other lady guests, was wearing a dress for the occasion and was forced to cover up with my winter coat. I saw others do the same. Not a classy look when indoors at a fancy jazz restaurant.
I felt bad for the wait staff who were clearly having a tough time, but in the end we were paying to be there and had the right to expect better. Especially when being charged $95 per person, before tax and tip (gratuity not optional. How clever!).
Almost 3 hours later, my boyfriend and I finally departed, proud of having survived the ordeal and certain never to return to Spazio.

Spazio did a horrible job for Valentine's Day. It appears they didn't hire enough staff yet charged an unbelievable amount of money for the lack of service. To make sure we didn't have the choice of how much of a tip to leave, they added an 18% service charge to the bill. The total came to $240.00 for two of us. Although they called it a five course dinner, there was hardly any food on the plates. Also, we had to ask several times for bread and water. I've had some good dining experiences at Spazio in the past but the last two times were poor.

This is the most horrible dining experience I have ever had. The hostesses were the rudest, UN-friendliest ever to great you at the door...........We?re here last night to celebrate Valentine?s Day. Our reservation we?re at 7:30 PM. We didn?t leave from there until 10:00 PM. This is no joke........Never once did our waiter, Cal, ever came to our table to ask how anything was. We had to ask for bread, for water, and the rest of our food. I had to ask the other waitress if she can go to the kitchen to get our food..............They put out shuttle tables to accommodate the added traffic for the holiday. We sat in the middle of a heavily traffic aisle with regular table on both sides, by the bar. The table measured 2.5' dia and sways side to side every time you lift your glass...........We requested to be seated elsewhere and was told they won't do that or they'll have to do it for everyone else. You're stuck because they've already taken your CC and they'll charge it if you didn't honor your rseervation..........The only thing worst than the food is the service...........The Bill. For two we were charged $272.00. When the waiter brought us the bill, he had automatically given himself a 20% tip. To add insult to injury, the restaurant then charged you tax AFTER the tip was added to your bill............We dine out quite often and this is the absolute worst dining experience we have ever had. Anywhere.

Awesome time. Every time. Best bartender in the valley, hands down. Kassey serves up the best (strong) drinks time after time(not to mention her gorgeous bod too!) Can't go wrong with endless entertainment!! Although we try to find new Friday after work hangouts, we always seem to end up back at Spazio's. Fun time. Not one complaint. If you ever end up drinking a little more than planned, she always has the H20 gun on quick draw. Best looking staff in all of LA!! Recommend dining only either on the patio or at the bar-as this is where you'll get best service. Wait staff is dining room is a bit too bland for my taste. We'll be coming back every Friday that we can as long as our girl Kass is behind the bar!!

SPAZIO IS SIMPLY AMAZING! I felt like I was on an exclusive vacation the other night when dining at Spazio! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the pleasant, friendly and beautiful host staff. They were prompt to seat me and accomodate my seating request. From there, my fabulous waitress promptly greeted me with a warm and welcoming smile. She excitedly described the specials and mentioned a few of her favorite entrees from the menu. Next, she gave me a taste of her favorite recommended red wine by the glass, BV Tapestry. She was right - It was phenomenal and I consumed three glasses by the end of the night! Her enthusiasm for me to have a wonderful eveing was evident as it was in the entire staff who seemed friendly to all their customers. The food is as outstanding as the music! I had the Tuna Tar Tar and Crabcakes to start, followed by the Pistacio Crusted Salmon - WOW! It was a party in my mouth! To close the evening, I had the gateu au chocolate, which is THE BEST chocolate flourless cake I have ever had in my life. WOW! What a night! The valet was reasonable, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Spazio is my new stomping ground!

My Husband and I went here for dinner, wine and music. Unfortunately all we got was the music - which was way too loud at that. We ordered a NY Steak (medium well) a salad and two glasses of wine. The salad arrived way before the room-temperature steak did and it wasn't even cooked correctly. We sent the rare steak back to be cooked some more and then finally received our wine. By the time the steak came back (now burnt to a crisp) I had finished my salad and my Husband was not happy with the overcooked steak. When our server appeared 10 minutes later, smelling like cigarettes, we asked to speak with a manager. When she showed up we explained to her what had happened and told her that we were not happy with the service or the steak at all and wanted to just forget about it and have it removed from the bill since we had only taken one bite out of it. The manager had a very snappy and condescending attitude and refused to remove the steak from the bill! She acted like she couldn't have cared less about us and walked away from us while we were in the middle of talking to her. The server then returned with the bill as if they were asking us to leave. So we did and will never return. AVOID this restaurant.

I had been calling around the week before to several hotels and restaurants inquiring about Easter Brunch. Spazio's Sunday brunch buffet was advertised on google as $28 pp. On their website, it was listed as $34 pp. And when I called, brunch was quoted to me at $38 pp - fine, I get the upcharge for the holiday. But overall, for a buffet, this still sounded like a deal. So I made reservations for Easter Sunday Brunch for my husband and I, his visiting parents, and our baby.

The food turned out to only be OK. It was annoying that they didn't label any of the food, but I could get over that. The eggs benedict, the bacon, the fruit, and the desserts were good, but the chicken was tough, the cheesy eggs were flavorless and runny, and the breads were hard and dry. I also noticed that items listed online on their brunch menu were missing from the spread. Refills of water were automatic, but we always had to seek out waitstaff to bring us refills of other drinks. Despite all this, we were still having an enjoyable brunch.

What blew my mind, however, is when the bill came. OUR WAITER, OMAR, TOOK THE INITIATIVE OF GIVING HIMSELF A 20% TIP. Having been a server before, I've never heard of a restaurant adding gratuity to a party of 4 (maybe for parties of 6 or more) and I've never heard of a server automatically getting 20% (it's usually 15-18%) - least of all for brunch (for just serving drinks?!) Doesn't that defeat the purpose of tipping? I would have disputed this at this restaurant, but we were with my in-laws and my baby was getting hungry and fussy. However, I called the next AM and spoke with Luigi, the manager, who agreed that the waiter was not supposed to have added that tip automatically and told me that he would take care of it and call me back. I never heard back from him. Nice customer service.

So, we ended up paying $200 for 4 people - we could have gone to a nicer hotel brunch for that amount. It's totally not worth going here.

I went to dinner here for a friend's birthday. We had to wait a little bit to be seated, even though we had reservations. The service was okay. A little bias if you ask me, since we were kind of a younger crowd. The food was nothing spectacular. Very small portions and nothing that I couldn't get anywhere else for probably half the price. It's a nice, romantic spot, but also a fun and lively place. And they had a good variety on their wine list (even though that was pricey too). So we just stayed to drink and listen to the great music. My friend really enjoyed it since he's big on music and loves live performances. It was a nice place for a special celebration, but I probably would not go there often.

The food was below average! really really awful, very small portions, and really bad tasting! It was a huge disappointment. I could've made something better at home! Honestly! BUT they have live music, which was really nice. Overall I would avoid this place if you wanna actually eat something, but its nice place to go for drinks and enjoying live music. The outside patio is nice too, but then again I would avoid the food!!!

It was my first time visiting this resturant. It was actually recommeded by a client whom loves jazz music. We went a few weeks ago on a monday evening.I must say it was great. Not to crowded and the music was soothing to my ears. It's a bit pricing, but the service and atmosphere make up for it.

I took my girlfriend and one of her best friends to the Sunday jazz brunch. We filled up on the champagne and tasty food while talking and listening to the band. There service was nice but not overbearing. They seemed to appear with more drinks just when we need. Prices weren't cheap but not ridiculous for this kind of thing.

My wife and I read the negative reveiws about Spazio's service. We have no idea what people are complaining about. We eat there maybe 2x monthly and always enjoy great services that is freindly but not intrusive. Our favorite waiter reminds us of our son, but we've had great service even when he is not on duty. Another thing we enjoy is that Spazio's has free internet hook-up - great for getting some work done during long sunday brunches. Anyways, if you haven't been - Go! You'll love it, and be sure to go some eveining to enjoy the jazz and upscale barstock.

I recently went to Spazios last month and had the best service there i have had yet! Ask for keeley, i think was her name. I have been going to spazios for a while and always seem to have problems with the service, but finally they are getting good employees. The food is excellent, the bands are great, good for a date, good wine list too.

I can say this place was a huge disappointment on Valantines day; my fiance came over from Michigan for that night, i had the reservation before a week, but we had to wait at least 40 minutes, after all we went to our table but we had to wait another 15 min for our server, finally our waiter show up and we were ready to order same dishes"Filet Mignon served with potatoes AuGratin & Asparagus" unfortunately they served my dish with no mash potato and Asparagus, we called them back and they said there are different dishes, we show them the menu, and they appologize for that and they took my plate back to add what they missed , they back with the same plate after 10 min and they said that there is no more mash potato and Asparagus at the kitchen...which the food was cold already .
We were there for our first Valantines and i can tell that was my mistake to choose Spazio as best place, that was a huge mistake.... The music was good but the service + food was misreable.

The music and food are the exact opposites of the miserable service.
We had a reservation, but had to wait at least 20 minutes for waitress to show up and say ?hi?. When we were ready to order, we had to wait another 30 minutes and finally were able to catch a busboy and ask him to call our server. He came back with the answer ?she is too busy to come and we don?t have anyone else to take your order ?.This whole thing happened on Wednesday, supposedly not a busy day, right?
So after all this straggle and waiting for everything for at least 30 minutes, with all this frustration we have decided that may be she does not deserve a good tip. But here is the catch. She included her tip herself. It was 30 % of the order!!!
Well, again I love their food and especially music, but unfortunately, you much better off just stopping by there for a drink and ordering food at the bar. At least you have a freedom to decide if you want to tip bartender and how much.

What can I say! I just L-O-V-E this place. The chef is a genius! No matter how many restaurants I sample, I cannot come up with a finer dining experience in Southern California, because there just isn't one. The food is oerfect, and so is the music. Other places have tried to copy Spazio's style, but they can't touch the winning elements that have created the delicious patina that is Spazio. From the professionalism of the valet parking people and sincerely hospitable greeting at the door to the wonderful service, cheeky, funny bartenders, FABULOUS atmosphere and spot on entertainment that makes other jazz venues look and sound secnd rate, Spazio is a winner all the way.

Well, let me start by saying i have been looking for my "spot" for several years now and I've finally found it. For so long I have been driving by Spazio, always wondering what that upstairs place was all about, and i'm so glad i finally endulged. As a former wine vendor, the first thing that impressed me was their wine list, covering some of the best in every varietal, including an extensive by the glass list. The food was nothing less than exceptional. I had the Brazilian filet mignon duo i believed they call it, and my wife had the lobster and shrimp. It was probably one of the best filets i've ever had and the combination of flavors that topped it was very intuitive. Of course, the thing that makes Spazio the most unique place in town is it's different personalities. With great live music everynight, you can choose a romantic corner, a more relaxed spot in front of the stage, a spot on the gigantic balcony with speakers so everyone can hear the music, or even at the bar where you can always count on a fun group of regulars, not to mention entertaining bartenders. I'm thrilled somebody had the Spazio vision and has executed it so perfectly to give us a truly unique experience. I highly recommend a visit sometime very soon!

Bad food, ridiculous prices and awful service! Talk about the worst combination. I ordered a steak salad. The steak was over cooked, poorley seasoned and the greens were wilted. The services was lacking. It took almost a half an hour to get some water. We were told to go there because of the live jazz and that wasn't even that great. I was so hungry after that I walked across the street to Cold Stone Creamery to get something decent to eat.

The menu promised freshly prepared Omelettes and Monte Cristo sandwhiches in their Sunday Buffett Menu and on that note I took my family for father's day celebration. Not only were they not available, but when we asked the head waiter about it, he had no idea of what a Monte Cristo sandwhich was and informed us that no omelletes were available, only some pre-cooked egg dishes! We had made reservations for a party of 10 people and were seated near the entrance hallway, so we had constant traffic of people coming and going but felt completely inaccessible to our waitress. The only thing the waitress needed to provide were coffee and orange juice and we had to ask several times and send smoke signals before they were provided, and by then the coffee was cold. The food was nothing out of this world - the pre-cooked egg dish looked and tasted like a yellow sponge with a hint of cheese. Since the gratuity was automatically added to the check, the waiters and waitresses' attitude give the impression that they don't have to work to earn it and the patrons suffer the consequences by obtaining bad service. Overall it was a bad experience and I would not go back! About the jazz band, of course since we were seated outside we could not hear a thing.

We were there for Valentine's Day dinner. It was a perfect night. And yes, there was a wait for the table. Spazio is a very cool "in crowd" hangout for the entertainment industry. Amazingly, even though the place was packed, people were sitting there very quietly and respectfully, listening quietly to singer Judy Chamberlain and her band. The food was really delicious and although I've had better desserts there than the one they served that night everything else was great. They had a huge crowd - the manager said it was the busiest inight n Spazio's history - and I thought they did a great job. Spazio is one of those rare places where they understand the "light touch" that goes into making "magic."

Nightly jazz, outstanding cuisine - and the restaurant was just awarded "Best Brunch in Los Angeles" by the prestigious Southern California Restaurant Writers Association. It would be hard to find a more relazing, unfussy dining room or elegant outdoor patio anwhere in town - attached to a delightfully serious dining experience, at that - and evidently the laid-back celebrity crowd thinks so too. Alec Baldwin, Priscilla Presley and Cybill Shepard are just a few of the neighbors who have been spotted lingering over the onion soup, fresh beet salad and tuna tartare. Wonderful jazz is of the old-school variety that reaches out and entreats you to have another latte and a slice of flourless chocolate cake or apple tarte tatin.

From the moment my date and I walked in, we knew this was going to be bad. There was a line to the hostess. Anyway, we finally spoke to the hostess and she sat us about 10 minutes later. No problem. Our waitress came to our table, and said how crazy it was. I joked, hoping to lighten the mood. She laughed and took our drink order.
From that point on, she was a disaster. It took forever to take our dinner order. Long story short, when the food finally came, my meal was cold. For $85 a head...come ON. My gf had to get up out of her seat to go find a fork for her steak since it was taken away on a appetizer plate earlier and never replaced. NO EXCUSE.

When the night was over and I was out $250, I felt unsatisfied and annoyed.

This place was a huge disappointment on valentines day. With reservations they had a huge line like a vegas buffet outside and took people in based on the order of arrival in line. The food (preset at 85$) was not fresh and very small. Service was horrible. Bread rolls were give out once at one small piece only. Four our main course we asked the lobster to be taken out of our dish, because we are both allergic. The waiter said definetly, and ofcourse the lobster was there on the plate masking as a potato and we ate it until it was too late. After that he restaurant was slow to apologize and our waiter dodges us like a plague.

Food was great and the waiter was very nice. But, from the moment we walked in we were rushed to order. When our food came out our orders were wrong on the account that the kitchen was closing and there was nothing they could do. So..our orders were not corrected. Also, when our fod came out we were askes yto put our dessert order in because the pastry chef was leaving. What is that! Overall..not impressed with being rushed through dinner being that we arrived 1.5 hours befor they supposedly close for dinner. To top it off we were insulted with free dessert.

It has been along while since I have had the pleasure of writting one of these letters. My dinning experience is quite extensive. I believe my opinion to be a proffesional one. My girlfriend and I dined at SPAZIO last night October 9th on a saturday evening and we were 'WOW'ed in every sence of the word. From the host at the door, to the friendly wait staff, and the great music, the whole package made our evening complete. The most important aspect is how incredible my girl felt when we left the restaurant (she is still talking about it). I really do search hard for a restaurant that meets my nearly impossible standards and SPAZIO accomplished that with flying colors. We will return soon and one more time I would like to say thank you for making the two of us fell like Kings and Queens for an evening.

We loved the ambience, jazz music playing while eating a sumptous dinner and drinking the best margaritas in town. Service was excellent! Wish there were more of these restaurants in the SF valley. Will definitely return.

Pros: live music, comfortable, good portions

I saw Spazio on T.V. twice--once on the food network on the Inside Dish featuring Mekhi Phifer (it's one of his favorite restaraunts), and on Punk'd a few weeks ago. So a couple of my friends and I went to check it out. First, we were absolutely floored by the very tall, dark haired GORGEOUS hostess. Oh my God, she was worth the trip, and she was really nice and accomodating to our pickiness in table choices. Once we stopped drooling over the hostess, we actually ate. The service was wonderful, the music was great, and the food was EXCELLENT! Try the filet duo, it just melts in your mouth. And for dessert, try the apple tartin or something. The girl will lure you in, and the food will keep you going back. Our new favorite spot.
