In ShortLocated just steps from the legendary Frederick's of Hollywood, this costume shop in business since 1950 is a propmaster's dream. Hundreds of wigs, accessories, decorations and getups. Elaborate animal and themed costumes are available for rent or sale. The black vinyl Catwoman suit is always a hot seller, as is Darth Vader. If guys really want to splurge, they can step out in a purple crushed-velour pantsuit with faux leopard trim; feathered hat is extra.

If you want a fun place to go costume or toy shopping, this is it. When you first walk in, you walk over a glass floor looking down into a coffin with skeleton. The store is very large for a non-chain store. Even if you don't need anything, it's fun to just walk in... but I've never been in without leaving with something.

I bought an item online and had it shipped to me. The item was junky so I returned it. You have to follow their return instructions to the letter. KEEP COPIES OF EVERYTHING! I had to provide them everything twice. I returned the item via UPS. It was received by them, but then when I questioned where my credit was, they made me prove it was signed for by their company. Then after 3 more emails and phone calls, I was finally told that my credit would be processed. After waiting another 3 weeks, the credit never showed up on my card so then I have to fax them a copy of my credit card to prove that I didn't receive a credit. 2 days after my fax I finally got my money back. Just a very shady company to deal with and I will never use them again.

Hollywood Toy and Costume can be a bit on the pricey side, but it's a wonderful place to find costume pieces throughout the year. This is an especially useful place if you work in film, TV, or theatre--they have a great wig selection, lots of interesting hats and masks, a huge array of jewelry, and a number of bagged costumes.
PROS: Selection is huge
CONS: Prices can be surprisingly high on some items

This is one of the best costume shops around. They don't just stock up for Halloween, but they have stuff year round. You can get everything from pre-packaged costumes to bits and pieces to create things from your own imagination. Large selection of masks, costume jewellery, whigs, and various replicas including guns and knives.

Super friendly service; troubleshooting help

The guy who answered the phone was super nice (I am assuming it was NOT the manager based on the other reviews) and tried helping me find a solution to my costume problem (my toddler HAD to be ____, no one carries it, etc.).
I would totally return to this place.
Pros: Excellent phone service
Cons: Well, they carry a LOT, but not absolutely EVERYTHING

Horrible! Worst Manager!

I called twice.
The manager hung up on me twice!
He wouldn't answer my questions, and when I asked him a question he would not tell me the answer.
I asked to speak to his manager, and it turns out he is the manager- unbelieveable!
Then he called me rude for asking to speak to his manager and hung up on me, again!
I can't believe this organization cares so little for customer service, that they would allow him to keep his job.
Many more people would come here, if they weren't so insulted from the get go.

The manager is rude.

Don't go there to buy a wig. The manager won't let anyone try on more than two wigs a day. Anyone who has ever purchased a wig knows that you usually try on at least 5 wigs before you find one that looks right. The manager is rude.
