I discovered the most tasty breakfasts anywhere in So Cal are served here by very nice people. Anyone with taste buds will savor the delicious made-from-scratch pastries, waffles, crepes, scones, biscuits and gravy, eggs, french toast and other dishes too numerous to name. I will go back often!

Pros: Delicious Pastries, Amazing Flavors, Out-of-this-worldScones

I've only been here once, and I received fairly good service, and the food and tea selection was nice and varied. It's a little small, but that's a common theme for many tea shops.

Overall, a nice place, but it rates about the same as any other tea place I've been to

We went here about 2 years ago but never got the chance to write a review. My daughter got a gift certificate but was not able to use it for the morning tea -- which is why we even went here. You get very little, one scone per person, 2 small sandwiches and 1 dessert per person. The tea is good. The best part was their bathroom, cute and roomy, nicely decorated. This place is very overrated and their service is sub-par. They don't make you feel welcome and if you never came back, they would not care, which is why we haven't. I definitely don't recommend it. If they cared about repeat customers, they would exert a bit more enthusiasm for their guests but who knows they may not feel comfortable if their guests are not caucasian.

Pros: close to my house but it makes no difference- 2nd visit confirmed I wouldn't return

Cons: already stated it- value, taste, service, ambience, friendliness or lack of

About ten parking spots, ecclectic decor, scones and cream/marionberry jam are good. But...service is horrible. Take your money somewhere else.

This is the fourth time I have been to Sweet Divas: once with a good friend about five years ago for the friendship tea (a good experience as I remember it), the second with about ten of my dearest friends for my bridal shower two years ago (when I first noticed the less-than-desirable service), once with my mother last Christmas (when I really noticed the service), and then today, when I determined to never go back.

I agree with another reviewer who wondered if perhaps the reason she and her friend didn't recieve good service was the fact that they are "colored." As much as I abhor the thought, I think I may have to agree, though we live in the most cosmopolitan city in the world and one would think race wouldn't matter when it comes to service.

My aunt is vegan, and since they didn't have anything on the menu that suited, I ordered tea and scones for each of us. After our order was taken, the owner came out and told us (in front of a roomful of other guests) that "for future reference" they didn't take reservations for folks just getting tea and scones on a Saturday, which was their busiest day of the week. A half of the bistro was empty, including the table directly behind us. I feel that there are only two reasons to be so publicly unhospitable if your business is half-empty: you either don't want particular people in your shop, or you really don't need the business. I spoke to the owner in the back, doing her the courtesy of speaking to her privately instead of embarrasing her in front of her customers. We will definately not be going back

Pros: scones, but definately not worth putting up with the service

Cons: disrespectful service that no one of any race of creed should have to put up with

I never write reviews because honestly, how these peope have the time to "Blog" is beyond me, however, I am APPAULED at the negative reviews of Sweet Divas. For the life of me, I CANNOT understand how someone could say anything bad about this place. The food is always so unbelievably tasty! When I was pregnant I was there almost every week because I craved their scones and salad all of the time. And to top it off, the servers there, especially Brandy and Adriana are some of the sweetest girls I have met in a while. I frequent the same restaurants all of the time and I will say out of all of them, no one has taken the time to memorize my order, my name, my kids names, and my special requests like the girls at Sweet Divas. They are top notch and you can tell they really love their jobs. As for the neagtive reviewers on here, I suspect that they are just rude people being mean or other tearoom owners who are jealous of these girls. Seriously, go blog yourselves out! I will continue to go to Sweet Divas and bring in new friends and customers to them because they deserve the business.

Pros: Food, Service, Cute place

Cons: none- parking is a bit tricky but thats just because their always busy

The service at Sweet Divas may be some of the worst service I have ever seen. The servers are short tempered and rude. These women who are trying to run a polite and charming service based business are more like rough truck drivers coming down from a toxic high. They, for some reason, are burdened by the presence of their customers. One server referred to a small group of women as motherf#*kers for not eating the chef's special cookies. They could not get their first set of customers out fast enough, literally slamming and locking the door behind us.

The food is marginal. The cake was good but not worth the time in the restaurant.

DO NOT GIVE THIS BUSINESS YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!

I came here for my bridal shower. A day I will surely remember for the rest of my life. A member of my group "ACCIDENTALLY" knocked over a decorative item on one of the shelves. One of the employee's came over looked & walked away. The owner then came over stood there w/ her hand over her mouth & said nothing. Not one employee said anything. We apologized & offered to pay for the damages SEVERAL TIMES. Only to continue to be ignored. I asked the owner why she couldn't talk to us. She simply walked away. I thought her behavior was extremely rude & uncalled for. Accidents happen. If it was some prized possession, maybe it shouldn't have been at her work place. Everyone in my group was extremely uncomfortable & to top off my GREAT day a few of my guests walked past the kitchen and overheard the staff & OWNER talking trash on us. I had a horrible time & will never forget it...

I had an extremely enjoyable lunch with friends this weekend at Sweet Divas. They had a special holiday menu with creative choices like Christmas in Paris and Rudolph?s Tea. The presentation was fun and had a great combination of tastes. The Paris dish had amazing cheeses. The course that ended the meal was delicious.

I recommend it highly.

This place is a MUST for anyone who loves delicious food in a comfortable relaxed atmosphere! I will go back again and again so I can try everything on this extensive menu. The scones are so amazing that I ate half without any of the delicious jam and sweet cream that accompanies them. The only negative thing I experienced was another group of women (I refuse to call them ladies) who were dining near me. They were so unpleasant, rude, and demanding of the gracious server that I couldn't believe it. To her credit, this server was pleasant and tried very hard to cater to their impossible demands. I was glad when they left and told the very nice girl that at least we weren't related to those women! I feel sorry for their husbands, they must be very unhappy.

Pros: food quality, taste and presentation - no screaming children

A group of my friends meet at Sweet Divas recently. At first I didn?t know what to expect because it is also a tea house, and some tea houses focus on the tea with only substandard food. I was astonished over the delightfully uncommon choices on the brunch menu. My friends and I chose different items so we could sample as much as a variety as possible. Everything I tasted was exceptional! I also bought some of the gorgeous treats from the pastry case to take home to my family and learned that they taste even better than they look. My friends and I will dine at this remarkable place again! I hope everyone will go and enjoy the extraordinary Sunday brunch at Sweet Divas because it?s an exceptional experience!

This darling little cottage catches your eye as you drive along Imperial Highway and continues to please in every way when you go inside. The decor is comfortable and not pretentious. The servers are friendly and very knowledgeable in the overwhelming variety of delicious teas. They also give great advice on what to order. I ate the tastiest grilled sandwich I?ve ever had, which was paired with amazing soup, obviously made that day in Sweet Divas own kitchen! At the end of this great lunch, we were delighted with a plate full of a variety of heavenly just-slightly-larger than bite-sized desserts. I love Sweet Divas food and surroundings and would recommend that you go there and enjoy too!

Would never go back to this place again! The service was horriable. BEWARE before you book a reservation at this place make sure to ask about their policies. Once you book -- you can NOT change your reservation. I had one friend who was unable to attend and I tried to call and change the reservation a couple days before and they refused!! So we were charged for her meal even though she wasnt present. The place is very shabby and it overlooks Imperial Highway which is loud and dirty. Parking is also a challenge. Also they lock the doors so you have to stand out side and listen to the traffic until your reservatation time. (I've never heard of a resturant doing this!!) The food was ok, but the service was incrediably slow, I felt like the servers were snobby and rude. There are soo many other lovely tea places in the area such as: Tea and Sympathy in Costa Mesa, Victorian Manor Tea Room in Orange, Tea and Teacups in Yorba Linda or my favorite Tea House on Los Rios in San Juan Capistrano.

Cons: EVERYTHING

the ONLY thing good about this place was the decor - cute cottage and cute idea. but EVERYTHING else was horrible! the service was TERRIBLE! the owner does not know how to run a restaurant and does not know anything about customer service! she really needs to take a class in etiquette. ive never been treated so disrespectfully. i know the place might look tempting (i was fooled by the name and pictures too), but it is not worth your time! trust me. the food was mediocre - it was all simple "dishes" you can make in your own kitchen. (however the scones were good.. but that was it). bottom line - this place is NOT worth your time! if you go, you're a fool - just like the owner.
(i didnt even want to give 1 star - but citysearch doesnt let you give 0)

I recently had brunch here and all I can say is "Yummy!' Everything was so delish! The Carmel Roobis tea and vanilla sugar scones were amazing. I recomend only eating one so that you have room for the rest of your brunch. They give you so much food! I had the spinch salad & the french toast and my friend had the seasonal fruit & eggs benedict. Everything was wonderful & so pretty too. Of course we had to get the red velvet cake for dessert. It was so moist, and rich, good to the last bite. Be sure to make reservations for this great find.

We went to sweet divas for my bridal shower. I was so excited to be going there - because I love tea, but the service was horrible!!!! There were 14 of us, but they did nothing to accomodate our seating, we were squeezed into a 10 person table. They only took drink orders for 3 of us. They tried to get us to leave by turning off the lights and putting the "closed" sign up. On top of that, my friends overheard them saying things like "are they still here?" and rolling their eyes. My cousin arrived late and they refused to let her order - saying the kitchen was closed. They were so rude!!! Never bothered to ask how we were doing.
On top of that, we were forced to pay an 18% tip, which was $50!!! I am never going back. BEWARE! Sweet divas is not so sweet.

I presumed it'd be a busy restaurant since we had to make reservations before hand and when trying to add one more person was told they were already making an exception with us and couldn't accomodate 7 people. I said never mind. When we did arrive we were asked to share a menu because they "might run out". The weird part is that we(6) and two other girls at another table were the only ones there! We didn't understand how they stayed in business until we received the bill. $27 per person for brunch! Their scones were good but not enough to have me come back. Service wasn't good and there food wasn't worth what I paid for. Wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

my friends and i have been looking forward to eating here for brunch - we had made reservations weeks in advance. however, when we arrived, our names were not written down. we were asked to wait half an hour - even though there were only 2 tables occupied...the rest of the place was empty. during that half hour not one customer stepped in. but they refused to seat us until the half hour was up. HOW RIDICULOUS is that??! my friends and i felt almost discriminated against. the people who were seated were mostly caucasian - i couldn't and still can't help but to think it may be due to our skin color? i was so appalled. i did not think that in the year 2007, in southern cal, such places and PEOPLE still existed. whoever the manager or owner is needs to do some MAJOR training in ethnic diversity and tolerance. this experience was so mortifying and humiliating.

I was VERY disappointed with Sweet Divas. I made a reservation approx. 2 weeks in advance. The person took down my name & phone number when I called to reserve; however, when I arrived there yesterday, they said my name was not on the list. Then the lady went to the back and didn't come back out for about 10 minutes. Once she came out, she rudely said that the "cook" will fit us in, in 30 minutes, which would be 12:00. I would have understood if they were really busy; however, half of the place was empty and available with MANY seats and tables. And at 11:59, we asked if we will be seated soon, and the waitress replied, extremely RUDELY, "You'll be seated at 12:00!" And as she walked away, she rolled her eyes and shook her head. I was appalled at the lack of friendly service. It was HORRIBLE!! We left and there were no apologies made by the people there. I will never be going there again, and have shared this story with many of my friends already, who have told me they will never be going there, as well. And they will be sharing this with their friends.
The thought of ... "are these people discriminating based on race?" crossed my mind. Hopefully this is not the issue.. but, that is how we felt that day.
If one is in a business such as this, shouldn't they be polite? It is a SERVICE business....
I would definitely NOT recommend this place to anyone. If you are looking for good service and friendly faces, I suggest you go elsewhere. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

I made reservations for afternoon tea to celebrate my friend's birthday. There were only 2 tables filled, but it still took a while to be seated. When we were seated, the hostess took us to the back corner. She never came to take our order, even after noticing that we were ready. I didn't want to seem rude, but I asked my friend to let them know we were ready to order. The waitress/hostess snapped back and said she would go to our table. I couldn't understand why she wasn't taking our order. The two other tables had been served already. We got up to leave, and she never apologized. Wouldn't that be the first response? Any type of acknowledgement would have been nice, like "I'm so sorry," or "Please just have a seat, I apologize." Nope - nothing. Just a "bye."

I couldn't tell you about the food, because I never made it that far. I love trying new restaurants, and I'm very fair with my reviews. However, Sweet Diva's was such a huge disappointment. I strongly believe that all restaurants should treat each customer with respect, regardless of age, gender, race, etc. While I don't know the reason was for the poor service, I do know that I would not recommend Sweet Diva's to anyone.

I hope they realize that every customer is important, and that first impressions mean a lot in this business.

Cons: Very poor service.

The hostess had attitude as soon as we walked in. The place was empty and she still asked if we had a reservation, luckily we did. There are only a couple of people in the main area of the restaurant, but she decides to seat us in the back where we can't be seen! The same girl makes us wait 15 minutes without even coming close to taking our order. We finally go up to the girl and as her we're ready, she decides to go in the kitchen and make us wait longer. This whole time, the waitress has the nerve not to look me in the eyes. We decide to pick up and leave, she walks out of the kitchen and doesn't even ask us what's going on, instead she has the nerve to say, "take care goodbye!" It was clear from the get go that they didn't want to serve us.

Pros: none

Cons: service, elitist

We made reservations a week in advance, but somehow they screwed up the rsvp. Service was a bit slow and lacking. The food was unique and good. They had a great tea selection and the scones were great. Sandwiches were average. Atmosphere and decor were cute. Maybe they were having an OFF day.

If you are looking for something unique go here! Great food, excellent selection of teas, brunch is a steal and great service. One thing... get dessert! How can you go to a place called Sweet Divas and not get dessert? I recommend the chocolate strawberry tea, the grown up grilled cheese sandwich and their red velvet cake. You must try their scones!

Cute cottage ideal for small gatherings. The scones are quite good and the lattes are some of the best I've ever tasted.

I am the owner and chef at Sweet Divas Cottage Bistro and I would like to respond to the review that is posted. Please understand that we do REQUIRE reservations and I am saddened to see that someone took the time to complain when we all went entirely out of our way for the author of the previous review, Lisa A. We do not claim to be a "takeout" restaurant and pride ourselves on our service and ambiance. We made an exception in Lisa A.'s case and did prepare her food for her "to go". I am sorry that she felt her wait was inconvenient for her, however perfection cannot be rushed. The quality of food that we serve is exceptional and Orange Coast magazine has called our brunch an absolute "steal" for the price. I am disappointed to know that we did not exceed this customers expectations, however, we are confidant that the overwhelming praise that we recieve on a daily basis will keep us striving for perfection.

Pros: Atmosphere, Staff, Food

I went here to pick us some brunch to go. I admit there was a large party having brunch but my wait time for the two items I ordered was about an hour. The staff was nice, but the wait was terrible. There's realyl no good place to wait, so they had to pull a chair up for me next to the door. Also, the proce for brunch was relatively expensive and I ended up paying about $35 for brunch to go for 2. I would recommend it if it was quicker and about 1/2 the cost.
