The place looks nice and romantic. However the person who greeted us was unwelcoming and although the restaurant was almost empty he offered us the table that was in the center of the room.
Waitress was mechanical. Focaccia served was

This restaurant is a small family owned business in Glendale. The service is excellent. The bread appetizer with the oil and vinegar dipping sauces is delicious. My husband and I have eaten here frequently for a nice evening out. It has an excellent selection of wines to go with each well presented entrees. Dinner for two with a bottle of wine runs about $65.00.

If you are looking for a romantic dinner, this is it. Not a happening, noisy place. Great Northern Italian food.

I agree with the other bad reviews. My husband and I went here and the food is awful and overpriced. The wait sfaff from the busboys to the servers are indiffrent. We did not hear one "thank you" from anyone during our meal. Please don't waste your time here.

My husband an I ate here and food and service were just awful. They wait staff from the busboys to the servers are indiffrent. The food is average at best and way overpriced. Don't even bother trying this place.

Reading the few bad reviews, Im wondering if these people ate at the same place I did. Recommended by a friend my wife and I decided to check it out. Everything was amazing. Service, food, and just overall feel of a noncorporate restaurant. The burrata caprese, Capilli di angle di frutti di mare, and warm apple tart completed the best meal I have had in years.

I NEVER write reviews but I'm am so upset I thought I'd write one. The first time I went here, I should have learned not to come back when I found a long hair in my appetizer.

The food is decent, but for the price, the terrible service and the pompous attitude of the host/owner, I'd say no to this one. Go to Pasadena instead to Mi Piace or somewhere else.

I would expect more for Beverly Hills food prices located in Glendale.

When I lived in Glendale until '92, I used to eat here at least once a week. In the more than 10 years since then, I've made it a point to eat visit whenever I'm in the Los Angeles area. Lucky me; I've moved back to LA and now I can again come here often. I love this place! The food is always delicious and the mood is always warm and welcoming. The salad and the flat bread they serve with every meal is addictive. The specials are consistently delicious as are the regular menu items. I'm sorry to see the few really bad reviews that I've read here. In all the years I've eaten at this lovely place, I've never had a bad experience. I've brought many friends here over the years and I've even hosted a couple of birthday dinner parties. I usually order their salmon special or their angel hair pasta with tomato basil sauce but I always taste what my friends order and it's always delicious.

I went there for the first time, and in the middle of the conversation, and waiting for our food that take too long, there was a c.o.c.k.r.o.a.c.h. sneaking in my fiancee's arm. Unbelievable!

This restaurant is one of the hidden gems in all of Los Angeles. The food is unmatched outside of Italy and the service is just absolutely impeccable. The pasta dishes are so great that even Cardinal Mahoney authorized one of his favorite dishes to be named after him, Fettucinne a la Cardinal Mahoney (I think that is what it is called). This pasta dish, fettucinne with lobster sauce, is absolutely delicious and just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Far Niente always has at least 5 to 6 specials that include fresh fish, chicken and other items. On Fridays, their lobster bisk is just fabulous.

This restaurant is a favorite dinning place for many, including myself. I have gotten to know the owner, Antonio, who is very charismatic and always makes me feel as if I was his most important guest. I enjoy the service tremendously, but the food is what makes this highly recommended restaurant a truly remarkable hidden gem.

For those who didn't find this place as appealing, I can only guess that it is because they really have no idea what Italian food should be like. This restaurant reminds me of the best of any Italian restaurant in Italy, and believe me, I have been to many of them and Far Niente is up to par with any of them.

Pros: Food, Service, Hospitality

Cons: Parking is hard to find, but use the Valet service in the back.

A group of us went on a Saturday with reservations. It was busy and noisy, but not overly loud. We were seated immediately, and given all nice complimentary water and pizza crisp topped with olive oil. In fact, they kept bringing and bringing and bringing the bread because we thought we'd never see our main course (salads come with most entrees with good dressing). Though there were about 8 or 9 specials none of us ordered one and went with the standard fare. Nearly all of us had a pasta dish and they were mediocre and the pasta slightly beyond done, rather than al dente. The waiter very kindly did bring out an extra dessert to add to the two we ordered, and they all were excellent. The main courses were nothing special enought to go back for, so we likely won't.

Terrible. Just terrible. Had a reservation, and still waited a full hour to be seated and then another 45 minutes before our order was taken -- and after all of that, it was still some of the worst food any of us has had in years -- bland, tasteless fish, inedible pasta, etc.

Wonderful food and nice atmosphere. Their adjoining bar area (bar FN) is a great place to watch sporting events. They have a big screen tv that is usually tuned to high profile events. Recently remodeled (it used to be called Duffy's Pub) the atmosphere is comfortable with nice booths and tables. The only draw back is it can get crowded, but I think the food is probably the best "bar food" around since it shares the kitchen with Far Niente.

This place has the best minestrone soup! The food is wonderful. I have yet to order something that wasn't great! They also have a bar next door (Bar F&N now, formerly Duffy's Pub)that is a great location for watching sporting events. They have comfortable booths and a big screen TV. Also a billiard area upstairs. The best part is the food comes from the wonderful restaurant.

This restaurant is truly deserving of praise! I have been eating here for over ten years with my family, and am still excited by every visit. Far Niente's specials are always amazing, especially the fresh fish!! My favorite dishes are the halibut, the chicken and artichoke risotto, rigatoni with mushroom tomato cream sauce, and the chicken milanese. Antonio, the owner, is so friendly and always makes me feel at home. I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Pros: Elegant, Tasty, Fresh Food

Editorial from

Founded in 1987 by owner Antonio Guberti, Far Niente features a pair of cheerful storefront dining rooms that turn romantic at night, when candles flicker on the cozy tables. We recommend the more sophisticated wood-clad room to the left…
