Is there a no star rating?? Went there this morning for a very simple task. Needed my daughter's name placed on the back of her soccer shirt. Arrived at 10AM just as Al was walking up to the door. He told me it doesn't open until 10, but it is 10 I explained. The female employee opens the door and lets Al inside. As I approach the door he raised his hand up to me as to gesture for me to wait, he goes inside and locks the door behind him. I am standing there like ""are you kidding me???"" Did this really just happen?? I am all about supporting Mom and Pop shops especially in my own community, but this was plain and simple blatant rudeness. Not cool!! Sorry Al you lost this business and all future business from me!! I will not recommend you! Rude Rude Rude!!!!!

I had used Al's Sport Shop for some awards last year and was very pleased with the level of service and customer care I received. So, recently, I sent a name plate with magnet to Al's Sport Shop to see if they could replicate it. These name plates are made to adhere to the steel on cubicle panels. I was happy to learn that not only could Al's Sport Shop make the name plates exactly as I specified but they also charged me less than half of what the other vendor had been charging. I was very pleased with the service and price I got from this establishment and I plan to use them as my preferred vendor for trophies, name plates and anything else I might need. Thank you Al and Rob..

Below are two emails, one from me and one from Don (Don is Al's Sports banner and sticker guy). I'm not writing this as a bashing to Al's Sports Shop, please read this review and then you be the judge.\r
\r
First off, beware if you need anything by a specific date. Whatever date you are given to complete the job, you might as well add another 4 to 6 weeks to your order (and I'm not exaggerating, it was literally excuse after excuse). Also note this was repeat business with much more intended for the future.\r
\r
After six weeks of no progress to my order (a tailgate skin originally quoted to be completed ""in a few days"") I went ahead and prepared the digital art myself. When Don finally printed it (another week and a half after I gave him the art) it was enlarged the wrong size. He blames the wrong doing on me since I submitted the art and that he had nothing to do with the layout. Okay... that makes sense, but instead of sitting down like two adults to discuss the situation he decides to resolve it by blowing me off. I still believe my art was laid out accurately but Don wants nothing to do with hearing me out. I received no response to eleven straight days of emails and on the twelfth day he finally replies. His reply admits to blowing me off and over what? Taking my email personally? Then he continues the email in quotes ""you would be better off taking your business somewhere else"". \r
\r
If you would like to find out how accurate this review is, please reach out to Don yourself and ask him. Facts are I email him with issues to the enlargement and he takes it personally then blows me off. I've never been treated with so much disrespect in my life. If one thinks business is as easy as blowing off customers, it may be a while before this one goes away as I'll be posting this review on every source available to the Internet. Thanks Don. \r
\r
(JIM'S EMAIL): \r
I didn't notice until I already had it half applied, but the images were created about an inch to small all around when you printed it up (detailed description here). I've attached a picture of how it came out. \r
\r
My measurements were right because even if you blew the images up another inch or so, everything would fit much like the samples I sent.\r
\r
Not sure if I want to re-print because my application came out nearly perfect, it looks really good. If I do decide to have another one printed, am I to be charged another $100.00?\r
\r
Please let me know, \r
Thanks, \r
Jim\r
\r
(DON'S REPLY 12 Days Later): \r
All I can say is I am sorry for blowing you off, after I received your e-mail about how the install went I took it personally that everything wrong with the print was my fault. Which I did print it, from the file you sent me. The worst thing I could ever tell a customer is ""you would be better off taking your business somewhere else"". \r

I ordered my daughter's letterman's jacket on 11/24. At the time I was looking I asked if it would be in time for Christmas and was told "most likely". I called on 12/18 and was told that it had shipped and that everything looked good for having it ready by Christmas. I called on 12/22 and was told that it had not arrived yet but that if they got it in by Tues. 12/23 they would have it ready for me. Well, today is Tuesday. The jacket DID arrive, but I got a phone call letting me know that they were not going to have time to work on the jacket until after Christmas. I spoke with Al himself who quickly put the blame on the manufacturers. When I pointed out that as recently as yesterday I was told the jacket would be ready if it arrived he then told me that I was actually lucky that several people who ordered were still without the arrival of their jackets. I wondered why then he was too busy to finish the one that DID arrive. This was my daughter's only Christmas present.

If you're looking for service, go to Al's. If they don't stock an item, they can order it for you. They're very knowledgeable (how else could a small store stay open for almost 30 years?!) and so nice. Sure beats going to a big chain store where you can't find anyone to help you, and if you do find someone you're lucky if they know the sport you're asking about!

I needed some name plates for some trophys and stopped at Al's to see if they could help me. The staff was very helpful and told me that the pieces could be cut just the way I wanted. They actually used some extra materials that they had there and cut them right on the spot. They charged me a very small amount. I was very pleased with their help and service, and I will go back when I need these name plates again.

Price is about average and turnaround time is pretty decent - I have had some school sweatshirts made here but decided to go next door because it was a little cheaper and equal quality. They have a good amount of school sport equipment.

Al's Sport Shop is the store we went through to order my younger sister's letterman's jacket. The employees were very helpful at helping her fill out the order form and let her try on a jacket they had there to help find her size. They explained everything well and made sure everything was understood. Dealing with them was a pleasure. Even though they wern't in charge of making the actual jacket, they helped with the paperwork, got everything processed, and had the jacket ready for pickup within the estimated time they said it would be done.

PROS: Outstanding staff that explains things well.
CONS:
