This place is terrific. I started riding my dad's bike to commute across town and had some trouble with the gears. I came in here twice -- they fixed my bike and taught me how to troubleshoot the problem for no cost at all. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. It's not at all intimidating here like it can be at other shops, and they don't try to sell you stuff you don't need. Definitely come here -- they will help you out.

This has got to be the best bike shop in SF. the staff are super knowledgeable about bikes and how they work. Before i went in here i thought a bike is a bike these guys proved me wrong after riding on my new bike that was expertly adjusted by the crew at this shop i was amazed. The prices are not cheap but the quality of the bikes and services they sell is amazing. So if you want a high end bike this is the place to go the neighborhood is also great so you can be comfortable riding the bike in the street.
PROS: High quality
CONS: Very Expensive

I said for professionals only because you would be surprised at the value/prices of those well made bikes. Only they would really appreciate such things. All of the staffs are experts with the "bike lingo" and are very knowledgable of their work.

No Better Bike Store in San Francisco

If you want to go to a bike SPECIALTY store, where people treat bikes like they're diamonds and can tell you the exact number of centimeters that your saddle should be down to the TENTH of a centimeter, look no further. These guys are the pros - they don't sell cheap bikes (least expensive one I saw $1700 and they custom make bikes for up to 6k or 7k) - but they are the absolute experts and know everything there is to know about buying a bike and the biking world. You will not likely find a 'deal' here but you will learn ALOT by talking to any of the guys in this shop and you can buy a GREAT bike here.
PROS: Expert, precise knowledge of bikes and biking - PROS
CONS: Not cheap
