Bookaneer

The Bookaneer is one of the few used book stores in Thousand Oaks. Unfortunately, Thousand Oaks has very few secondhand stores of any type. There is another used book store a few blocks away, called the Book Bag, which has lower prices but a more limited selection. I always try the Book Bag first, then Bookaneer second.

At the Bookaneer, prices are all half off of the original selling price, which I suppose is around average. The books that can be bought here are still a much better deal than new books at Borders or Barnes and Noble. Most books I've bought there seem to be around the three dollar range.

Out of all of the used book stores in the area that I've seen, this one has the best selection. I've found many books that I couldn't find anywhere else. In addition, I actually went there and bought several used books as gifts for this holiday season. Overall, it's a pretty good place to browse around and buy!

One of my favourite things to do is go to used book stores. I love reading and do frequent the bigger chains but there's nothing quite like going to a used book store and hunting for rare gems. The Bookaneer is one of my favourite used book stores in town because of their selection. I've found more rare finds here than anywhere else which is why I will always go here first. The prices are pretty cheap, the atmosphere is great and the staff are very friendly. During one of my last visits, the store wasn't very busy at all and I ended up chatting with a staff member for a good 30 minutes about our favourite authors and recommending books to each other. See if you can do that at your local big chain book store!

My girlfriend loves antique books. We were on a date and stumbled across The Bookaneer, and she pulled me inside. She found a lot of things she loved, and surprisingly, I did too! I love Robin Cook medical thriller books, and he has a few rare ones that are hard to
come by. In here, I actually found one I'd been looking for for a while! She came out loaded with a few collectible books, too. Friendly staff, great finds, good prices!
