You would think that a place that touts their burgers in their name would have a great burger....but this place has thin tasteless grey meat! And if you want a thicker burger they just pile on another thin burger.
You're better off going to Tommy's or In and Out. No reason to eat here unless you're stuck in the area.
The same goes for breakfasts...everything is jut OK. Nothing to rave about or even be proud of if you're the owner!

Long wait, cold food, bad service and rude new owner. Since Dino (new owner) took over the Wolf burger, this place went down the drain. Save your money this place is not worth it.

The great attraction about Wolfe Burger when it first opened was that there were no other places in Pasadena where you could get a high quality burger "to order". You could watch them make your burger and put your own toppings on it. These days you can get that...and do that in a lot of places...most of which can do it for you and MUCH MUCH faster. Wolfe Burgers will always have its devotees...but I'm not really impressed these days. The last time I was here with friends, we waiting nearly an hour for our order. Where do you wait for burgers that long? I can't think of a single place...not even high-end restaurants. If they upgraded and expanded, I might reconsider.

Horrible service! I had to wait for an hour for just one order of a burger and fries. When I went to ask the manager what had happened, he was very rude and said that it will be out soon with no apology. Overall, I don't recommend this please, the food was cold, it seemed like they lift it on the counter for a long while. Spend your money else where trust me it is not worth it at all.

The customer service was by far the worst I have ever experienced. I made 1 order on the phone and they charged me for two. When I got to the place, they would not refund me. I repeatedly told him that I made 1 order only and the manager named Dino argued. I would of stayed and demanded my money back, but I had to go back to work. This place is a rip off. No customer service at all . The new manager named Dino was extremely rude. Save your money and time, plus the food was terrible. The food was cold and the fries were dry. The new ownership ruined this place.

"Pasadena institution" is quite the pedigree. Being new to town, I was initially skeptical of such claims. However, successful experiences at other heralded burger institutions like pie and burger and father's office, had begun to wipe away my cultivated new yorker cynicism. Wolfe Burgers changed all this and left me longing to embrace vegetarianism.
In fast food-land, decor and cleanliness takes the place of service as a non-food related differentiator. Wolfe Burgers performed satisfactorily here, which turned out to be the only hurdle this establishment managed to clear.
I ordered the burger with a slice of avocado and swiss. The acoutrements to the burger were not memorable, except for the ortega whole green chiles which was a nice touch, free at the condiment bar. The villain was the burger itself, which suffered from two unrecoverable problems -- 1) this thin burger patty was done around the edges but left red in the middle... telltale signs of a burger that spends the bulk of its time on the grill defrosting, as opposed to cooking. 2) the burger itself was utterly tasteless. While I appreciate the push and pull between burger taste and fat content, perhaps Wolfe Burgers can blend in a higher fat-content cut like chuck so that the burger develops a taste profile distinct from the styrofoam upon which it was served.

Ok, the fries are good, but they are very similar to In-N-Out. The burgers are not bad, but I guess I just don't feel as though they aren't like many other burgers that I've had. A plus/minus is that you have to dish up your own condiments: onions, pickles, mayo, 1000 Island, relish, etc. This is good, because in this manner nothing is wasted: you get what you want without having to toss what you don't. Again, there's nothing wrong with this, but I just don't trust the "all hand on deck" aspect. It's a judgement call. The employees are very nice, the back patio is quaint, and the price is on the spot; I just wish that there was a little more character in terms of being unique. Oh! The onion rings are delicious! :)

When I first got into town my brother immediately started raving about this place in town called Wolfe Burgers. He said they had the best burgers in town and they should not be missed. Now I have to admit I am not a HUGE burger fan. Don't get me wrong I can appreciate a good burger just like everyone else but it's not the sole reason why I visit a burger joint. For me a burger joint is not truly a burger joint unless they have top notch fries to accompany a premium burger. And in this case I was not disappointed.

Wolfe Burger serves up a premium burger. But what makes this burger is not the condiments (which there a wide variety of), it's not the bread & nor is it the seasoning. What makes this burger a premium burger is the meat. It's fresh and lean. You can really taste the quality of the meat in the very first bite. Now when you combine that with hand cut fries; they don't peel the fries here and thank god they don't. That's where all of the flavor is. Plus they must change the oil frequently. It's never dirty. The fries always taste fresh. And if you don't like the fries you can upgrade to the onion rings, zuchinni sticks or the fried mushrooms. They are very genorous in their portions. When you try the sides don't dip them in ketchup. Try the ranch dressing you will be glad you did.

And if you get there early enough for breakfast try the rib eye steak, 3 eggs, potatoes and toast for only $8.95. You will be glad you did. It's a real deal for that price.

As you can tell I am a fan of the place. Hey what can I say, I love great food at a great price. Besides the service is great and at least one of the many tv's is always on the ESPN or The Sports Channel. It's a great place to read the paper on the weekend and catch up on all my favortie sports

They give you a lot of food which is nice but I had to wait for a long time to get my food. Every time I go there, even when it's not busy, it seemed as though they were taking their time and I had to wait a while to get my food. Bu the over all it's a good deal with good food.

Came here after reading so many great reviews and, I had to write this only to say that this place is a complete dissapointment. My fiance had the beef burger and I had the turkey burger. We shared the famous old onion rings and they were were good, but the burgers were nothing special. We could have been more satisfied with what McDonalds or Lucky Boy could offer. The meat was bland and the after putting the burger together with the bun and condiments, you can't taste the meat. This place is nothing but just another overrated burger joint in the neighborood.

Pros: Parking, Patio & indoor TV

Cons: Food, value

I love Wolfe Burgers because the ingredients are noticeably fresh. Their ranch dressing is a family recipe made in-house (more than likely all of their dressings are but I only asked about the ranch). Their french fries are delicious, made from fresh potatoes and taste even better when dipped in the ranch dressing. Optional wheat buns, and your choice of American, Swiss or Monterey Jack cheese add a little class to their chicken sandwiches and their burgers. In addition to the usual fountain drinks, they have bottled water, Snapple, and a moderate selection of beers. The interior is kept clean and there is an outdoor patio (where you can share bits of your bun with some of the fattest sparrows ever). The seats fill up pretty quickly around lunchtime. I imagine they probably run out of seats occasionaly although I can't say that I've ever had to wait for an open table myself. Oh I almost forgot, this definately isn't a place for penny pinchers but a place for those who like to taste really good food. I like bringing people there for the first time they are always pleasantly suprised.

PROS: Really good food! Chubby sparrows are entertaining.
CONS: It ain't cheap!

I was craving a restaurant style burger, but didn't want to eat out. I was driving toward Old Town, to just order some takeout from a restaurant, when I saw Wolfe's. The burger was thick and good. They had a choice of cheeses, not just American. The condiment bar was decent, but they didn't have any steak sauce, which I usually put on my burgers. I ordered the onion rings, too. Got way more than I was expecting. I ended up sharing them with a friend and still we couldn't finish.

Now this place doesn't have the best burgers in town or anything, but they're still decent enough to splurge on every now and then you're in the mood to spend a lot more than usual on a burger, fries, & coke. Their burgers are good, and they have a mini condiments bar so you can stack up on a few goodies. I really like their sliced, spiced carrots, and sometimes ditch the fries and just grab some of these instead (healthier too). Although, when I feel like an extra few hundred calories can fit into my day, I get their fries which I think are excellent.. dip them in some ranch sauce, and yum. Ambience is dreary, however they offer outdoor seating, but it's weird because you get a nice view of the rear parking lot. Bottom line: long wait time, high prices, but decent enough to go again.

This place does not mess around when it comes to making burgers.
They use quality meat and make them fresh to order. There is a little side bar with all of the fixings so you can dress it up to your liking. They also serve up a mean breakfast. Definitely worth trying out.

I like this place because I can get a turkey burger on a wheat bun, and it's hard to find good hamburger joints with a healthy alternative. Also have veggie burgers. Burgers come in different sizes too. It's dress your own burger there so you don't have to worry that they'll mess up your order.

You can smell and see the smokes out of the vents while driving by and you know you're getting hungrier. They really cook it well here, my favorite is the "Philly Cheese Steak Sandwhich", kind of messy like the other items, but worth the munch.

If you're out Pasadena way, don't miss Wolfe Burgers on Lake Ave. This is a serious burger joint. Not big on the service, but good taste and big meat. Nice shakes too. They've got a nice patio to hang out on, but nothing fancy.

Not that it's needed after seeing all the reviews for this place. But I do agree, they do have good burgers and best of all I can have it my way. They give you the burger and you do the rest. Mayo, mustard, pickles, onions, etc., etc. This makes me very happy since I'm fussy about how my burger is put together. I've had other items on the menu too and enjoyed them all.

I can't comment on the parking since I always walked here from work. But the service was great, they take your order and it's ready soon after. But there is nothing made up ahead of time. You burger is cooked when you order it and everything is fresh and tasty.

Great little neighborhood place, amazing service--fast and efficient. They're famous for their burgers, but check out the breakfast menu too. It's always crowded for lunch, but if you call ahead it cuts down on the wait. Good, solid all-American food!

If you like mouthwatering, fancy schmancy, lipsmacking burgers this is the place to go. The burger combinations available are impressive, everything is fresh and the restuarant is amazingly clean for a burger joint. Out of my enumerated visits, I never had a bad experience and was never dsipleased with my food. its a good place to go to when you don't feel like getting caught up in Old Towne's touristy restuarants but want some really good gourmet type burgers. If you go for lunch, give yourself some extra time, all the locals know about this place.

This place has great food. The staff is very nice. They are fast. Be carefull if you go at lunch time you might have a tough time finding a place to sit. That tells you something about the food. The only thing I do not like there is the onion rings and the fried zucchini. They add something odd to the homemade batter that I just dont like.

Wolfe's makes the best turkey burger in Pasadena, maybe in L.A., if you like peppered bird. Spicy. The onion rings are big, dredged in lots of flour, and removed from the fryer before they're too crisp, so they taste more baked than fried. Wolfe's also serves a good breakfast sandwich and -- since the place started out as a Mexican restaurant -- excellent tamales with hot chile (the lobo). It's best to call ahead; sometimes there's quite a wait. If you eat on the patio, you can feed the bluejays.

One of the best burger places I know. Nice big beefy burgers with any topping/condiment you could want. Everything from the standard lettuce, pickles and tomatoes to green chiles and ranch dressing. Fries are good (Get the small!), great shakes. Super-long lines at lunch time.

The food is great.. Double cheeseburger, no tomato, with bacon.. Chocolate shake!! Good trick is to order small fries - the difference between small and large is miniscule and the price doesn't justify it..

Another of Pasadena's solid choices for a non-fast food burger. I recommend the breakfast burrito for breakfast and the burger for lunch. The line can be long, but it moves pretty quickly. Avoid the overly sweet chocolate shakes and the unspectacular onion rings.

When our office used to be nearby, this was one of my favorite lunch spots. If you're looking for a no-holds-barred real burger, then this is your place. Be careful around lunch time because the line can almost wrap out the door. Everything is cooked fresh and sitting outside on the back patio is the way to go.
