When I first started at Bikram Silverlake, I was out of shape due to a dislocated knee cap injury. The first time, I could barely stay in the room for the whole 90mins. Through the talented instructor??s guidance and personal persistence my mind and body is in the best shape ever. Personally, Lauren on Tuesday's and Wednesday's is my favorite, but all the instructors who teach there are exceptional. Now, my knee injury has healed through the practice of Bikram and I now look forward to the mind clearing workouts

Bikram yoga is a series of poses that you do for 90 minutes in a 105 degree room. The first half of the workout is done standing and the second half is on the ground. Your heart rate will go up so feel prepared for some funky body sensations (dizziness, etc). Make sure you drink a lot of water before and after yoga. The teachers at this studio have all been fantastic and helpful. There isn't music, there's no chanting, and every series of postures are the same in every class. There aren't levels to the class, so in each class there are beginners all the way up to people who have been doing this yoga for years. You will feel worked out inside and out and will want to come back. This is the only 90 minutes I am ever able to shut my brain off and just be.

Do you ever walk out of a yoga class and think to yourself that maybe the session was a little too cheesy or that maybe the die-hards in the class were too intense. Rest assured that when you walk out after a class at Bikram Yoga Silverlake, you will feel good about being a part of the greater good and will not be turned off by any yoga nerds or over-the-toppers. Everyone is super relaxed, super welcoming and super cool (in the good way). One never need be afraid of going for the first time even if you've never done yoga period! The staff is great and eager to talk and answer questions at any time. You can move at your own pace and still feel like your kickin' azz. When you leave a session you will literally feel as if the world is yours.

Hands down, the cleanest, most enjoyable bikram experience I have encountered in three states! Really down to earth people, fun teachers who are serious about their yoga but lighthearted and encouraging. Parking is easy, only wish I lived closer!! Worth committing to..

i'm a 25 yr old guy, and bikram yoga is the only thing that allows me to continue playing competitive sports. great for lower back strength and hamstring and hip flexibility. highly recommend silverlake studio because the teachers are helpful, encouraging and committed. clean studio and great class schedules.

I decided to try Bikram after a lot of research into the benefit of different styles of yoga. I must say, I was impressed!!! Although I had never done it before, it was very easy to follow along and the instructor was so great he made me really want to keep going! I would reccomend this - and the intro deal they give you is totally worth it!

i tried bikram yoga for the first time at the silverlake studio and i loved it. you get such an incredible workout and the atmosphere is great. the teachers are very knowledgeable and very encouraging, especially to newcomers dealing with the heat for the first time. the heat can be difficult at first, but it is so cleansing and it really helps your practice. it's amazing. i have been doing yoga for years but was reluctant to try bikram becuase of the reputation, but this studio was fantastic. very clean. very friendly and supportive vibe. it was everything a yoga studio should be.

I walked in wanting to experience a Bikram yoga class and I have admittedly been a little obsesses since. You sweat out of every pore in your body (the room is heated to about 100 degrees I think) and you are constantly encouraged to try your hardest by the teachers. Bikram isn't quite the spiritual side of yoga but it does make you wonder about what you can physically achieve. It's a healing experience.
It's a little pricey but I swear I saw and felt a difference in my physique the first time I went.

PROS: great workout, nice teachers, intense experience
CONS: heat is overwhelming at times, room smells a little

Be prepared to sweat! In 102 degrees, you not only need a large towel on top of your mat, but you need another towel to wipe yourself off throughout class. Also, wear the least amount of clothing as possible. You will be much more comfortable throughout the class.

The work out is 26 postures, repeating each posture twice. It is a great ab and leg work out, but I did find I was sore all over the next day.

This school also appears to have been an old dance studio, so there is still one wall covered with mirrors. I found it helpful because I could actually see how I am doing my postures and correct them on the spot.

Pros: Helpful Instructors, 20 bux, 10 days

Cons: Street parking
