We hired AC Construction in 2000 to remodel our veterinary hospital. We told that they had completed many medical projects, asssured that we could remain open during construction, and they would work at night to reduce the impact on our business. Sounded great! We hired them. Once the project was underway, we were informed they couldn't work at night. Our business was severely impacted during the project, and then the disasters began: they cut the roof off just before we all knew a huge storm was coming ($30,000 of damage to our offices WAS covered by their insurance), they damaged our neighbor's roof, broke water pipes, cut through a gas line without informing us, missed just about every deadline set, hired foremen who weren't up to the job (one of their foreman asked ME for assistance in reading the plans). By February of 2003 the project still wasn't complete & we ended up in arbitration. They insisted on telling our bank that the project was 100% complete when many "punchlist" items had not been completed, including some major & obvious items, such as cabinets. We withheld payment from them in an attempt to get them to complete the project, so they filed a lien. We ended up with $100,000 worth of legal fees, but were awarded the money left on the contract to hire someone else to finish the job. They also cost us about $200,000 in lost income since the project ran way overdue. When the project was finally completed by another contractor, we figured their impact on our lives was over. WRONG! Our 5-year old retaining wall has now failed and had to be completely demolished and replaced for $225,000. The AC unit was improperly installed, it died, and we just had to spend $2000 last week to replace that. We are convinced that we will continue to find incident after incident where their shoddy workmanship fails and costs us more money. Unless you like surprises (and not necessarily pleasant ones) don't hire these people. Consider yourselves warned.

Pros: Can't think of any (honestly!!!)

Cons: Shoddy workmanship, unable to stick to a schedule, arrogant, dishonest, incompetent.
