Masa-Echo Park Bakery & Cafe

Their Chicago style pizza is ridiculous. Never had anything bad here. Cool staff, nice vibe. It's also a good brunch spot on the weekends--never too crowded. Worth more than a trip, it's worth 2.

I enjoyed the plain butter croissants--they're fluffy and fresh and big enough to share. Also the chocolate--just the right amount of sweetness and a little bittersweet too.

Mom & Dad restaurant born out of love for gourmet cooking of 2 couples. The servers & owners are super friendly here. The breads and deserts are worth the visit! European menu has limited selection of foods, yet all with the great quality. Cooks are concerned of cooking details, the taste, the temperature, the presentation and the compatibility of ingredients. We enjoy the carrot cake, crepes, super fresh salads and leek soup (came with a Big Roll, enough for two!)

PROS: Relaxed environment, wonderful bakery/coffee, cooks' love in your food.
CONS: limited selection of menu

Masa has a small menu but most everything on it is worth trying. The Chicago style pizza is wonderful, and so is the bistro style pizza. They have excellent sandwiches served with either fries or salad. My favorite item is the manchego cheese salad. They are also a bakery so they have excellent bread. Their olive loaf is great! Good service, great food.
