Would like to bring some attention to a person who worked for White Cap but is no longer associated with this company but has since been terminated. We had a salesman named Allen Perry who was very good and called on our company on a regular basis until he moved on with the down turn in the economy. That is when Adam Todd started calling our office when account was less than 30 days wanting account paid up in full. Not 30 days over past due but if we picked something up on the 20th of the month it was to be paid on the current invoice. I know how the economy is and we have even gotten behind but have always paid our account. Even when we had several builders file bankruptcy we still paid our suppliers.
We have even sold jobs that other suppliers had and we negotiated prices to where White Cap ended up selling $55,000.00 dollars and over $40,000.00 dollars in rebar to my contact and we did not want anything in return because I felt it was a nice trade off for you working with me when I may have taken more than 30 days to pay my invoice.
Not sure how we can have our account paid in full and when we go to order 1 bundle of rebar and were told that our account is on hold. Scott at Cartersville, GA branch had to call us back and inform us we no longer have an active account. What I think has happened is White Cap has had many contractors leave them hanging and when the ones that get caught up or paid off they can drop your account and not get stuck like many of the contractors have done in the past year.
I am going to be sending Mr. Tom Lazzaro, Kevin Wollett and Mark Johnson a letter to let them know how our situation ended and how some people in the offices do not have a clue on a sales person in the field and what he does to keep customers happy. I know of several very good contractors that have been talked to by Adam Todd over the past year and many have and do not need to be harassed by someone who does not care if he keeps the long term or even short term accounts.
This started by his calls when account was not even 30 days old and we started to call other suppliers and maybe this was a blessing. When he called one afternoon I did call another supplier and told them to deliver 25 bundles of 10" full ties and he did deliver them and sent invoice and I noticed that there was a big difference in his invoice and White Cap's. Reason I thought there was a mistake is exact same tie and quantity but $250.00 dollars cheaper. Checked on rebar with Scott and the other companies #4 rebar was $.75 cents a stick cheaper. This difference equates to $120.00 more per bundle, so we calculated what we ordered from White Cap then month before and there was only 824.00 difference that I paid you instead of paying him for same exact items. Now I multiplied that times 16 orders and that added up to over $13,000.00 in your pocket instead of mine.
Not until I said something about the differences did we see a more competitive price only because your company knew we were checking prices instead of ordering over the phone to Allen Perry and assuming your company was looking out for us because of the amount we were purchasing.
Not sure how we can purchase from White Cap for over 8 years and sometimes going over $20,000.00 limit and then when Allen Perry leaves your company and Adam Todd is calling with threatening messages that our account was going to be turned over for collection when we purchase something about the date of invoice going out and not even 30 days old.
We ordered something over the phone when we were out of town and Scott called back and told us our account had been put on hold and then said it was cancelled may have been a blessing. We called another supplier and set up account over the phone, approved and rebar sent out in 2 hours. Along with that we saved $120.00 on the one bundle of rebar and this new company is the way white cap was 8 to 10 years ago. I also think I may need to contact all the other contractors we are associated with in the Atlanta area to see how they have been treated by your company. I already know several who have had discussions with me in the field and all have said samething about Adam Todd and how your company has changed alot in the past year. I do understand some because we are more cautious when we do work for new contractors but not ones that have been with us for 8 or 10 years like some of your customers.
I am sure that Tom, Mark or Kevin will not see this letter or get the certified letter we are sending them today but maybe some other contractor will read it and do some price checking.
If we would not have had Adam Todd call us and harass us and your branches not have products in stock , we would have never known about the big price differences..
Consumer BEWARE!!! Check prices even when you have been a good customer for 8 or 10 years. Scott and others at Cartersville, GA have been great to work with other than Adam in Florida. Thanks
Dennis Harris
