LOVE IT! The food is soooooo good! I love the idea of Tapas. It lets me get a bunch of things! I tried a lot of tarts, and they were all AMAZING! Goat cheese tart, seafood tart, and the fruit tarts! WOW! So going to be back all the time!

I do not like Ole. I went there and the food is not very authentic. I asked the waiter to give us something good and we got: empanadas (Argentina), pasta (italian), guacamole (Mexican) and there wasn't any real spanish food. The sangria wasn't that good either. The food was decent but don't go there expecting spanish food.

I love the small plate concept. we ordered lots of tapas to share and shared one steak entre, which was very good. my favorite was the seafood tart. the sauce on it was sooooo yummy! their white sangria is the best i ever had. i highly recommend everyone to try their sangria. red or white they were both good.
bottom line, i will go back again to try other tapas i didn't get to eat...

TERRIBLE FOOD. This is some of the worst food I have eaten. The service was equally slow and bad. The spanish omelet tasted like burned dirty dish water. The mussels were too salty and chewy. The steak was chewy and cold. The crab bisque and gazpacho were good. This place is not worth your money. I don't know how a place like this can even stay in business.

Need the perfect date place? This is it. Ole! has a great selection of Spanish wines which I rather enjoyed. There is plenty of seating, giving you the chance to get better acquainted with a hot date over some hot tapas! Food could have been better, but definitely nothing that I would send back. Sauteed mushrooms and onions is always a winner for me and the fried goat cheese with honey was the business! The staff was super friendly, giving me all the more reason to return.

We have lived in Studio City for many years and have always considered Mexicali as our favorite restaurant until we found Ole. Great intimate atmosphere...inside or out. Outstanding exotic drink menu with Sangria margaritas our favorite. What we like the best is that they have an extensive Tapas menu so you can share 3 or 4 or as many items in an evening. My favorite..jumbo coconut shrimp in an orange tangy sauce served in a martini glass...deep fried goat cheese...empanadas...seared scallops...great salads...very extensive and wide range of foods. Always perfectly prepared. Carlos the manager is awesome...always very friendly and making you feel special...a very nice getaway from our hectic lives if only for an hour or two!

I love Spain, and have visited her a couple of times in the recent past. And I have enjoyed a variety of regional dishes, wines and mostly tapas that have sustained me throughout my travels. And it is my pleasure to report that Ole Tapas Bar is a breath of warm and dusky Iberian air right here in the San Fernando Valley.
From the moment we were warmly invited into the darkly reddish, glowing interior, we knew that the mood and tastes of Spain awaited.
We came specifically for Sangria and tapas. and we ordered accordingly. A pitcher of iced red sangria and the following: Pollo al Sabor de Granada--chicken breast strips with pomegranate sauce, and Pinchitos de Cordero--lamb brochettes in a sangria reduction sauce. We also enjoyed the Placa Caliente, which is an assortment of tapas featuring grilled shrimp, fried goat cheese in honey, patatas bravas, fried calamari, sauteed mushrooms and artichokes. We rounded out our meal ordering a fresh spinach salad with poached pear and goat cheese. Dessert was a lovely dish of sauteed banana carmelized in brandy, introduced into a puff pastry, baked and served with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and slivered almonds. Delicious and uncommon.
The dishes were appetizingly presented and satisfying. We definitely intend to return and sample more of the eclectic Spain-inspired fare. We also wish to enjoy the live flamenco show hat is currently scheduled for Tuesday nights.
The geography of southern California is very evocative of much of Spain. A meal and an evening at Ole Tapas Bar inspired memories and visions of our next journey to the ancient peninsula.

Cons: None of any consequence noted

I have been to this restaurant a hand full of times and I really like to food and the staff has always been super friendly. I just got engaged and wanted to have an engagement party somewhere near where I live, some place that was nice but also casual and somewhere that had good food. I thought of this place and boy, was I happy. We had around 50 people show up and we had the bar/ lounge area and a couple tables near the bar just for us. The food was terrific!! The staff, again, was so so nice!! And everybody really enjoyed themselves and just loved this place. Also, the sangria, white and red, is awesome. I seriously could not say anything bad about this place...and by the way, in an economy like this one, if you still are able to go out and eat, the prices here are super. I highly recommend Ole' :)

i took my friend for her special 30th birthday. wow. i was impressed. i wasn't expecting much and we had food, great wine, great sangria, and great service. i really liked it a lot. the waitress had brought over a fruit dessert plate with candles for my friend. we planned to go a bar after dinner but we just chatted the night away.

I'm no 'foodie' or wine snob, but I know what's good, and this place was good enough to get me to write my first review.
We sat at the bar and she served us from the 'bar menu', the regular menu, had two of the nights specials and then dessert, all while sampling most of the speciatly drinks and martinis! We don't usually go through that much food, or drink for that matter, but it was sooo good we just kept ordering more.
We're actually going to go back on Tuesday, now, for the flaminco the guy next to us was raving about, and I would suggest to anyone to do the same.

So, we have driven by this place a hundred times, and finally stopped in and had a blast! I've been to most places on Ventura and have to say this was a great place for a girls' night (as we did) or to meet an old friend out. The bar had a great bartender who knew his wines really well and made us feel like we stepped into Barcelona for the evening... It was a thursday and got fairly busy, but never too busy to chat with the staff or conversate about the great tapas...Try the Sangria Martini and the Placa Caliente (sampler platter)!! Fantastic!

i was very glad when my friend referred this place to me. i had the sangria for the first time and it was great! then i tried 3 different tapas. the aoili sauce is to die for. the tapas filled me up so i didn't order any main dish. i'm a petite person so the portion was good enough for me. if my boyfriend came here then he would of have to order a main dish to feel full. i thought the service was friendly unlike what the other reviewer has said. i would go back with my bf.

The service was not attentive at all. My friend and I had to request refills of our drinks. The food overall was marginal but we sent back one dish that did not fit the description listed in the menu. The escargot tasted like a sweet and sour soup and was sent back. I felt like I had to offer an explanation for sending back the escargot dish because the staff seemed reluctant to take it back. I only sampled the dish with a few bites and found the taste so different to any escargot I had ever had and not to my liking at all. The ambience is nice with red color scheme, and lighting, but overall, the food was rather bland, nothing special, and the service left much to be desired, and bill too high in price for the service and food offered.

I went here with some friends and we were not impressed. The service was HORRIBLE! It took over 10 minutes for us to get water and the place was practically empty! If it's that slow, there is no excuse on bad service. The food was bland and boring and overall we were disappointed. I had hoped it would be good - it looks like a cute location but is not worth the stop.

Horrible! I'm from Spain and I know good tapas. This ones were not even close. The place is lovely, you can go for a drink, but avoid the food.

Went there last week on a Saturday with my wife. We did not make reservations and had to pay for this mistake by having to sit outside on a cold evening. What puzzled me was that the restaurant did not seem to be even at 60% capacity... Anyways, it took them about 10-15 minutes to remember that we were waiting to order our drinks - annoying. The waitress that took care of us the rest of the evening realized that our experience had a bad start and seemed to put some extra effort into it. We had "Caracoles con el chorizo" (snails... to die for!), "Empanada de carne" (ok), "Ceviche Ole" (average), and Sangria. We liked the sangria quite a bit, and should have gone for the pitcher from the beginning. Overall, it's worth the visit even though it's on the pricey side for the very small portions of food.

Um, aren't tapas cheap, appetizer like food to have instead of a full dinner? How do they get away charging what the do for so little. At least Sushi fill you up.
And yeah, the food isn't that special, certainly not to justify the price.
These are to tapas what El Torito is to Mexican food.
Just double the price.
I guess if I had enough sangria or entertainment I wouldn't have noticed

My husband and I went to Ole last Tuesday because it was recommended by a friend and we had the best time. They had live flamenco music and dancers and the food was excellent. The sangria was fantastic and all of the appetizers we tried were great. We had the hot sampler platter and everything on it was great and so different. Our waitress was great and very attentive. We really had a fantastic time and we will be back next week for more music and great food!

I've been going to Ole off an on for about 1.5 yrs...and I kept going back for Happy Hour and dinners with friends because I loved it so much....until my last 2 visits. I was SOOO disappointed with Ole. The wait staff sucked and worse of all, the goat cheese tapas blew! My friends and I sat at the bar table (where we always sit) and not only was it about 100 degrees inside, but we were told that if we sat at the bar....we had to "tend" ourselves. wtf??? So we literally had to get up from the bar table, go to bar and place our orders for drinks and apps. The food was egh (paella was bland, the goat cheese tapas were cold and didn't even taste like goat cheese) the red and white sangria pitchers contained about 3 sad black berries and 2 slices of orange (respectively), we had to get up and ask for water, and then of course fetch our bill....and then I expected to see a "self serve credit"....but no, they expected a tip of course....maybe it was for helping me sweat off some of the calories from the food. I am really sad, cause I use to love this place.

Ole? More like "OK." The ambiance is really nice. It's a great place for a romantic evening with your significant other. However, the food left lots to be desired. I enjoyed the appetizer we had but that was it. I love paella and the paella that was served was tasteless and it was not even saffron color like it should be. For the price that one pays for paella, you expect it to be deliscious. The paella we had was far from it.

If you're looking to have some good paella, I do not recommend this restaurant. They have a nice bar and outdoor seating. So if you want to go for some drinks and hang out in the Hollywood area, it's not for that.

The ambiance in this place is really nice, well lit and very warm feeling. It's a great place for a "girl dinner", little birthday gathering or a date spot.
We really liked the goat cheese tapas, the scallops, and the omelet tapas.

I would skip the cold tomato soup, though...it just reminded me of bloody mary mix.

The wine was wonderful, 2001 bottle of Ceremonia from Spain. Peppery and flavorful.

So, the final touch that we ordered (because it had been suggested on this site, even) was the chocolate fondue. The fruit it came with was horrible! The apple pieces had cores in them, the blackberries had gone bad and the mango tasted well overdue. The chocolate was very thin and reminded us of hershey chocolate syrup. This was really disappointing because most everything else had been wonderful.

We will be back...but no fondue for us!

There are small plates and there are tapas. If only restaurants (though restaurant goers aren't innocent, either) would refrain from using the word "tapas" to describe items like satay strips and potstickers, then we'd all have a much better understanding of where we were going and what we were ordering. After living in LAor the past 3.5 years, I had pretty much given up on the idea of authentic tapas. However, my faith in finding authentic tapas in America was restored on Thursday night with. We got there around 6 p.m. and sat right next to the bar. Normally, this would have bothered me, but considering the size of the restaurant, a beggar could not be a chooser. Here's what we ordered and what we thought about it: patatas bravas (perfectly crisp potato wedges with a tasty ali oli), Calamari Vasco (again, perfectly crisp and so yummy, melty, and all around wonderful that we had to order another round), chicken stips, Goat cheese with honey, and a chocolate fondue. I would order all of this again, and my only complaint is that I wish they would add mussles to their menu. I thought the Sangria had just the right amount of sweetness, and the fruit was fresh so that I didn't feel like I was drinking something that had been sitting in a jar for the past week or two. Overall, we were delighted with the entire experience, including the polite wait staff!

Accommodating hostess (how often do you hear that about a So Cal restaurant??). Cheap parking. Great food. Great service. Reasonable prices.
The only downers were the weak drinks and loud guests at other tables. I guess they don't realize how their cackling travels in a small restaurant.

Accommodating hostess (how often do you hear that about a So Cal restaurant??). Cheap parking. Great food. Great service. Reasonable prices.
The only downers were the weak drinks and loud guests at other tables. I guess they don't realize how their cackling travels in a small restaurant.

Pros: Great service and food

Cons: Weak Drinks, Outdoor seating faces Ventura Blvd.

DO NOT GO! I always try the simple dishes when trying new restaurants of country specific food. First off, we got Exxon Valdez bread. The oil was soaked through and all you tasted was cheap olive oil. I ordered the Tortilla de Patatas, a staple in any Spanish home and something that anyone can make. It was disgusting. There was egg in the middle of the potatoes and it wasn't a mix, like a quiche. but rather a layer of egg between potatoes. There was no flavor. Worse than that was they put brown gravy on top! We ordered the cold tapa plate which I thought would be a safe bet. What we got was mushy olives, dry jamon and a weird tasting Manchego cheese. Next, our friend ordered the paella which was the worst. The rice was overcooked and salty to the point that we drank three glasses of water each. I complained about the tortilla and bread but was charged for it anyway. Lastly, sangria is a fruit drink so shouldn't there be some fruit in the drink? We got a blackberry. Well, I give them a raspberry for their disgusting attempt at making tapas. This is definitely NOT a Spanish tapas bar. Any person who has gone to Spain - Anywhere in Spain-would know that this is just a cheap imitation that falls way to short. For all the snotty people who were oohing and aahing over the food - BUY A PLANE TICKET AND VISIT MADRID!. Shame on OLE for disgusting food. My friend went to the bathroom at the restaurant and has gone three times since. Sh**tty food for $100.

Great tapas, great ambience, great Sangria, qualified service. Have been here 4 times and sat at their bar-WONDERFUL! Never had a bad time. Can't wait for spring because the outside seating is SO NICE!. Great value too! We and our friends love it!

I was surprised to see negative posts so I wanted to let you know that this is a really fun place to be.
Its perfect for a date or for a group and the food is actually really good. Its hip and the service is good.
I've always enjoyed meeting up with friends here. Check it out!

The food and service was great. Tapas styled eating is very interactive and fun with a big group of people. Unfortunately, this place has jammed in a bunch of tables which are located closely next to each other. If the tables were spaced out a little more, I would've have given a higher rating. Reservations are recommended. Street parking can be found. Chocolate fondue to die for.

I went there with a group of about 10 people and the food was okay (you aren't full at the end), the drinks are watered down, and at the end of the night they not only charged my card $24.00 like I put on it, they charged an extra $200 too. I know these things happen but it is uneccessary having to call the manager and have your bank investigate it. ugh. Not going back.

The service was very good, the food was good and it has ambiance. We ordered the hot tapas sampler (calamari, mushrooms/artichokes, potatoes, fried cheese; good), the cold tapas sampler (serrano ham, olives, manchego cheese, roasted red peppers; highly recommend), and the ceviche (too citrusy for my taste, i do not recommend). For dessert we had the Creme Caramel and it was soooo good! We went for a late dinner, around 9:30, on a Saturday night and the inside dining area was too loud for conversation so we took a table outside.

Went on a Tuesday night. It was lively, but not uncomfortably loud or crowded. The service was very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed calamari as an appetizer (cooked perfectly-nice and tender, with a nice light batter and spicy sauce). For entrees, my friend had the lobster and I had the placa caliente (hot tapas sampler). For dessert, we shared a chocolate fondue. All were delicious. Throughout the meal we enjoyed delicious margaritas and sangria. We were also treated to a serenade by two guitarists/singers who took requests. The restaurant has a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. Great for either a romantic dinner or a fun night out with a big group.

My friend and I just ate there tonight and it was the worst dinner i have ever had. I never write reviews but it was so bad that i felt compelled to write a review to let others know to not eat here. The service was spotty and its a waste of your money. The Gezpacho tasted like watered down tomato soup and the chicken was rubbery. Please do not waste your time.

So far, this is my favorite tapas place in the city! The tapenade is the best, as the friendly staff will always let you know. The Sangria is good, though nothing too special. I definitely recommend the fried cream dessert. I went one Saturday night with a group of 4 and without reservations, so there was a long wait, and the crowd at the bar was a little much, but no worries, one of the best cocktail places in the city. I went again last Tuesday and at around 9, the place was packed with Flamenco afficionado. The waitress was really sweet and the food was incredible. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone, and I'll be back for sure!

My girlfriend and I went to Ole for the first time, anxious to try it. The atmosphere was very nice and cool, and we sat in the patio. We ordered a variety of tapas, and it was all AWFUL! Very disappointing, the serrano ham was thick and dry. Left there hungry and I know I will not go back!

We've found the best tapas in LA! The service was friendly and fast, the food excellent, and the Spanish wines were amazing. I was very impressed, and so were my guests. The Gambas con Jamon, sizzling garlic shrimp, was the favorite, yet the sauteed mushrooms were also a surprising treat. It was definitely worth the trip as we all had such a good time

My girlfriends and I went here last night for our monthly girls night out dinner. Our whole experience at ole was amazing!!! The hostess was beyond accommodating, especially considering we changed our reservation from 5 to 8 people at the last minute. Our waitress was very attentive, making sure our glasses of wine/water were full at all times, in addition to recommending some wonderful items off the menu. I walked in to work the next morning and have already been spreading the word about ole to my coworkers - it's a definite must!!!!

ole is the perfect place to go after work for a few drinks and a few tapas. The bar, the patio, or small lounge are great places to sit. Or of course you could sit inside. My friends and I go there almost every Tuesday and enjoy it every time. What better than a refreshing Sangria for after work? The tapas are only $4, and the drinks $3 (or $3.50 I'm not sure) during the longuest happy hour I have ever seen... (2 pm!!! to 7pm)

I went on a Tuesday night when they had the Flamenco dancers and had a great time. I had planned to have a quieter evening talking with a friend but found it a bit difficult over the noise. The tapas and wine made up for it though and we soon were having a great time. The patio area is much better suited for romantic couples while the inside is great for large parties.

My friends and I stumbled upon this place by accident. It seemed like a popular spot. We stepped inside to check it out. It reminded me of the month I spent in Spain last year. We ordered a variety of tapas from the menu, and we were impressed. The live music was great. I felt like I was a regular. I highly recommend it.

We decided to try Ole after a month in Spain and -- IN OUR OPINION, it wasn't at all the same. To our taste, ,the food was mediocre, the room with blaring music was noisy, the cava was second-rate, and the hostess and wait-staff ranged from diffident to snotty. We'll never go back. Too bad - the real Spanish food is excellent and lively, a brilliant cuisine in both the traditional and post-modern style and nothing beats a good cava wine in the summer -- but this was ... NOT remarkable. IMHO

calamari, bruschetta and sangria are great things to start off with. stay away from almond soup unless you have already acquired the taste.

waitress was amazing, she gave us excellent recommendations and was very helpful....she even took back a dish that we didnt like.

Service was terrible! In the fast food restaurants they have better service, Food was ok just ok
Also valet parking is bad. They are backing up your car against the traffic on Ventura Boulevard.

Wannabe actors and actresses should consider fast food vs. lively restaurants. This aside, the bruschetta is delicious...where do they get that awesome cheese??
