Luther Tower's best attribute is soundproofed walls. I lived there for 4 years and while the east
side of the building is very noisy on the outside, you can always close your windows if you don't have
a rambunctous cat. Luther Tower's worst attribute is the fact that the building consists of mostly
studios. That means that there are 220 seniors living in a 14 story building. Thiis means that if
you are not a "people person" you will have to endure the stress of being close to 219 other people,
half of who will do a very good job of getting on your nerves, if you are not careful to avoid the surly faces
which look like they need to release internal gas. There are some very nice people here, but you have
to go slow in starting a converation with them.. All seniors deeply value their privacy.

There is a superabundance of rules at Luther Tower. While turning off almost all lights during the
day does save energy, you stand a good chance of breaking a leg if you don't see the spilled
liquid on the floor, due to the twilight lighting. Also, you will probably have to invest in a space
heater since there is no way for residents to control the heaters in their room. You are told you
can call downstairs to get your heat turned off and on, but even a senior knows the office has other
things to do besides regulate your heat or lack of it. Yes, undoubtedly you will be told this!

Yes, there is politics all over the place. There will be a "Bertha Bulldog" to stare you down or
holler at you if you leave the light on in the laundry room in order for other residents or yourself
to see better. She will probably be the result of the building manager spreading her personal
opinions about everyone and everything in general. "You shouldn't be friends with so and so," according
to this busybody fountain of wisdom with the control freak mentality. Most residents do well by
avoiding the front office and trying to obey the rules.

Pros: 1-Near Churches 2-Near Downtown Transportation

Cons: Despite looking like a museum the place had seven apartments with bedbugs when I left.
