We love the swim club! It is open all summer in the afternoons and evenings. We often go up for dinner. It is easy to either BBQ (it's in the same parking lot as Lucky's) or pick up fast food, which is also nearby. Having the lifeguards on duty is great but the kids can swim well thanks to the Barracudas swim team which also uses the pool for practices and meets. The kids love the waterslide and playing ping pong and volleyball. Great summer fun!

As a member I love this pool. Its a great lap pool that always has a lane reserved and open for swimming laps. Very nice grounds and has a kitchen / BBQs to store/prep and cook food. And, it shares a parking lot with a grocery store and Starbucks so food and coffee are just a few steps away. Of course the big draw is the Barracuda swimming team which are perennial East Bay Champions.

Summer is better at MVSC

Just joined MVSC last year after my children swam on the Barracudas swim team. Swimming is great exercise and a valuable skill for children and adults. Lots of fun members and events.

The club is a great place for families to relax together and barbecue on those warm summer evenings when Aqua Adventure is crowded or closed. Lots of grassy areas, patio furniture, remodeled bathrooms and close to restaurants or a supermarket if your barbecue needs something extra.

Better than a backyard pool in my opinion for several reasons: 1. much much bigger 2. less risk for children (lifeguards at all times during business hours) 2. no upkeep/perpetual chemistry experiments 3. way way less expensive

MVSC is not the only neighborhood swim club in Fremont, but you'll pay about the same anywhere you go and MVSC has a superior team, location and features.

Take advantage of joining this great local pool in the Gomes neighborhood of Mission San Jose in Fremont, CA. It has a great pool, with large green grounds, close to businesses like Lucky, Starbucks, Daily Bagel Caf, and Subway. And best of all, you don??t have to do the pool maintenance. Just come and enjoy the fun in the sun.

This is a great community-owned swim club. We have been members for more than 3 years and we love the pool, the grounds and the swim team. It's especially geared to families with young children. They host events like family movie nights that include amazing food. The pool is always clear and is rarely crowded and the kids love the slide. The lifeguards are there to keep things safe. The bathrooms have been recently remodeled. The board listens to member suggestions and makes changes often. If you haven't been to the Club or it's been awhile, it's worth a look!

I have been a happy member of this swim club for 11 years. The club has recently completely renovated the bathrooms. They are very modern. I have personally witnessed the lifeguards save children from the water and sooth others who have gotten a scratch or bruise. They are a nurturing group of trained youth and I completely trust them to supervise the water when my kids are swimming.

This mismanaged swim club is an outdated, unsafe, run-down dump. It is obvious that this club has not been updated in 30 years. The unsupervised under age teen lifeguards are more interested in talking with their friends or reading magazines than watching the pool. These youth lifeguards would not know what to do if there were an accident, nor how to save your child from drowning. Clearly there never is any adult management on the premises. From the moldy bathrooms to the cracked deck, avoid this poorly managed club.

Business Response:

While the property is as old as the houses in the neighborhood; many upgrades have been completed over the past few year. These include resurfacing the pool and deck. Painting the buildings and a complete remodel of the bathrooms.

As a longtime member of MVSC, I love having a place to go for a quick "stay-cation" whenever I need it. My son loves to invite his friends. They swim, use the pool slide, or play shoot hoops in the poolside basketball hoop. Then they have lots of grass area to play when they get out. Sometimes they'll challenge each other to a match at the Club ping-pong table. I just relax and read in the shade knowing the lifeguards are supervising them in the pool or on the slide. My husband and I have hosted many a party there over the years. Recently we had a "Aloha" party for about 45 people. The kids and adults all had a great time. Even though it was a hot summer day we were not crowded at all, and the fact that it is right behind Lucky's made restocking our drinks and ice really easy. Plus we used several of the Club's BBQ's to feed everyone. If I had a complaint about MVSC it's that I wish it were open longer in the Fall to take advantage of our weather. I guess if I want everything my way I'd need to put in my own pool, but I can't imagine dealing with the cost and hassle when MVSC is sitting right here in the neighborhood.

The Mission Valley Swim Club has been around forever, at least two or three decades. I cannot say much has changed. The exterior looks to be on the shabby side. There is a simple low wooden fence surrounding an outdoor pool with a tiny room that serves as an office or storage supply. The quality of teaching varies as the turnover rate for instructors runs pretty high. They tend to hire young kids still in highschool as instructors.

I have taken swimming lessons from The Mission Valley Swim Club, as have my siblings. It has been around for over 10 years at least. The teaching quality varies depending on the instructor you are given. I would have to say some are excited about being a teacher, while others seem to just be there because they could not find their ideal job. The lack of enthusiasm really shows, especially when working with young children. Students are put in groups of about 6. There are several different skill levels from pre-beginner to advanced. At the end of each paid session, you are given a report card by the instructor indicating whether you will go on to the next level or not. Many times students will fail to 'graduate' and remain at their current level (which means their parents will have to shell out $ again for the same thing).
