McClain's is one of the greatest coffee places I have ever been to. But be warned--this is NOT Starbucks! If you are the type of person that likes to LOITER as opposed to actually supporting your local businesses by buying at least one of their goods, then be prepared to be thrown out by the owner and/or her associates. She's an outgoing individual that knows how to make some good coffee and that isn't afraid to kick someone's butt for taking advantage of her establishment(figuratively, of course).
The coffee is definitely worth it; if you bring your own mug, it's only $1. And her food? Amazing. The brownies are practically ecstasy in your mouth. The interior usually consists of local art hung on the walls for sale to the public, and on occasion there are live performances. It's a wonderful place for college students to do their homework.

Mediocre coffee served with heavy dose of attitude. That said, it has a great patio area and a really cool artsy coffee house (as opposed to coffee shop) feel. Weekend nights can get loud and obnoxious- but its a nice place to hang out in the daytime.

It sucks because you have to pay cash (who carries cash anymore?) , but they have a crazy cool bathroom and they are the only place to just chill after ten pm.

Good coffee. Intimate coffee house feel. Great music almost every night, featuring some of Orange County's best local musicians and artists. Comparable pricing. Great local hangout, a place to bring a group of friends and chill. Really good deli-select sandwiches, I recommend the turkey and avocado!

Ahh....McClains. The large, colorful turn-of-the-century home on Harbor Blvd. is unmistakable. Considered a Fullerton landmark, McClains is the rare coffee house more frequently visited by college kids and the "alternative crowd" than by white collarsrunning in for their morning lattes. McClains is truly the place to sit down, get a frothy capp (in a mug, not in a paper cup) and hang for a while.

First thing you will notice is that the service at McClains isn't exactly attentive or friendly. Baristas often act like you are disturbing them by arriving at the cash register. They slowly get up from their chair and spek to you without a smile or, for that matter, any tone deviating from monotony.

Think that would be enough to turn you off? Not once you actually try the coffee. Best espresso-based drinks in Orange County other than perhaps Gypsy Den. The milk is frothed just the right amount and the espresso is pulled well; no sour drinks here. Unfortunately, the cafe doesn't offer nonfat
