I contacted Rosebud Cakes in July so that they had lots of notice to design a cake for a friend's birthday in November. Even though I asked more than once to make a payment, they said they failed to do so. They said in July and August that they had a friend who worked in IT who would help them so that they could process my payment (I live outside the United States). They never came back to me. Today I asked what was going on as November is nearly here. Suddenly I was told they did not take PayPal and they realised it was too much of a hassle, so they "put the project on hold", without letting me know. They then said that they assumed I could not pay by credit card. I was astounded by their ignorance of how PayPal works. I told them I had a Visa credit card. Then suddenly they said they accepted cash only and wanted me to find someone in Los Angeles that I could pay so that that person could then come into their store to pay them cash. I am not going to look for strangers in LA and ask them to help me with transferring funds as if I am running some kind of scam and I am not going to inconvenience my friend and make him pay for his own birthday cake. I also explained to Rosebud Cakes that their delay in taking payment when I had asked them to do so had cost me a lot of money because our local currency lost a lot of value. They offered me a $9 discount, based on their research into exchange rates. They had the audacity to say the USD has also gotten weaker and that the amount of $300 they had quoted me was not that much anymore, with the implication that it was okay I had lost money because they had too. I corrected them and let them know that the money I had lost as a result of their failure to take payment was equivalent to me paying an extra $45 on top of the $300. I also told them it was not my problem as the customer if they had lost money because the USD had lost value as well. I had agreed in good faith on a price and had tried several times to pay them. I then received a reply that said "Thanks but no thanks. Sorry it didn't work out for you. Maybe next time." They clearly did not understand my last e-mail to them, which implied I was dropping them as a supplier. There will be no "next time".

Stop by this cake making bakery and it is like watching an episode of Ace of Cakes. Rosebuds IS the Ace of Cakes bakery and design house of L.A. A cake for 50 will be around $500 so it isn't cheap but the cakes is delicious and rich and the custom designs will not disappoint. Check out their website and you will see some examples of their amazing works of art/cake!

Our experience with Rosebud Cakes was disappointing and unprofessional. 'The last word in original cake design' did not live up to their own standards with our wedding cake, which fell apart immediately upon delivery. Within 30 minutes all of the frosting along the sides had come down and lay in a broken mess. The cake was delivered and placed in the proper spot and no one touched or moved the cake: the banquet captain, the coordinator, and all involved at our venue wouldn't even attempt to fix the falling cake to uninvolve themselves from its collapse. The smaller groom's cake turned out fine, but was not technically difficult as it was a flat, one layer cake.

As a result, it stressed out the bridesmaids and delayed our wedding reception. Worse, we have no cake cutting photos, and we never saw the wedding cake that took so much effort to design. Upon bringing the failure to Rosebud's attention, the attitude of Alan, the manager and co-owner, shocked us. He was rude, defensive, made innumerable excuses as to the condition of the cake, and constantly interrupted and spoke over me. Even after Rosebud reviewed the ruined cake photos and spoke with our florist and other witnesses, who confirmed that the cake was untouched prior to its falling apart, Alan and Elin continued to deny the faulty cake design and refused any refund, calling our witnesses "liars." Imagine giving a bakery $1700 of business and being treated so poorly.

The only compensation they offered was a gift certificate for another cake. However, our wedding and the wedding cake cannot be "redone." Another cake from Rosebud is the last thing we desire! This review would have been much different had Rosebud assumed responsibility and properly resolved the situation to our satisfaction.

Pros: Surprise groom's cake turned out fine, though one-layered

Cons: Rude and unprofessional upon failure of wedding cake

This shop has a sweet name and an even sweeter product, cakes with works of art painted in frosting on top. It makes custom-designed masterpieces for any occasion. Prices are high but I think they are well worth it.

Words can't describe the works of art Rosebuds creates out of cakes!! Their designs and possibilities are endless. I originally walked past their window and always admired their products from afar thinking I couldn't afford to buy from them. But when I finally went in to see for myself I was pleasantly surprised at their reasonable prices for the product they create. While they are still on the high end of pricing...they should be! Their cakes are amazing! I had them do the Callalily cake for my wedding and people still talk about it....2 years later!! Rosebud Cakes are worth every bite and every penny!

PROS: Endless Designs, Creative Bakers
