NOT O.K. Where do I start. I should've known when I first got there and a mom and daughter were leaving upset that I shoul've left too. The staff is VERY friendly. I dont want to complain about that. But, the massage oh boy my 5 year old niece uses more pressure than that. I swear I said deep tissue. The massage therapist was VERY nice but the massage lacked ANY pressure at all. O.k. lets move on to the facial. Are you kidding me is all I could think. I paid extra for extractions (I dont think the girl knew how to do extractions). I also paid extra for a power exfoliant, I guess she forgot. When we were done and I asked my esthetician about the power exfoliant she claimed she used it. Well I'am an esthetician who has used the power exfoliant 1,000 times and she DID NOT use it. So I just got home gave myself a facial WITH extractions and power exfoliant. What a waste of my money and day. P.S. I was told Id be there about 1 1/2. I was there waiting for a good 30 mins. before my massage and another 15mins. before my facial. NO stars from me. Sorry

I've been to the Fulton location 2 times for a masaage; the first was great but the second SUCKED! I didn't complain; left a tip but emailed the manager about my concerns and dissatisfaction... NO RESPONSE, no surprise.... I thought I'd give them another shot for a massage. Got there 5 minutes early and finally asked the receptionist (25 minutes later) how much longer I had to wait... he start scrambling looking for her; another therapist came out and told me that my therapist is new and have already had complaints. my therapist finally comes in and just tells me her name... HELLO??? WHO the heck are you lady?? my therapist? WHAT? I just looked at her and the other therapist that is still there and am told it's my therapist and I had the option of staying for my massage or leaving... I chose to leave... She looked incompteent, and hearing that people already complained about her and she didn't even have the gall to say "sorry I'm late" was a total turn off... I called and complained and was told I would get comped for a massage... I went to the downtown location, and of course they messed up my appointment again, I made it clear I wanted a female therapist and... a guy walks in; I declined since i was not comfy and had made preference clear multiple times. this place is completely ridiculous, andunprofessional... I wasted my time and gas 2 times to go to appointments that never happened... NO apology, nothing...

MUST READ!!I needed a Serious Deep Tissue massage for a VERY,VERY stressful day, that a friend & I had. I ended up purchasing a Expensive Couples Massage, because I was mis-quoted over the phone that it was the cheapest way to go for Couples. IT'S NOT CHEAP AT ALL. I not only utlized a gift card I had, (Thank God), but paid additional because my friend and I were incredibly at our wits-end due to stress. Anyway, we were escorted to the Couples area in another building. As soon as we walked in we were both sick to our stomachs due to the fish tank near the door. The FISHY odor overwhelmed the building. Apparently no one has ever cleaned it in a while. The very first thing I mentioned was, 'WHAT IS THAT FISH SMELL???". My Massage Therapist "Saba', attentively & graciously apologized for the odor & placed us in our ad-jointed rooms. I personally feel that it is the 'Spa owner or Spa manager', that should be responsible for this upkeep. NOT the therapists. Their hands are literally "priceless'. I was so stressed out & tired that I thought I was out $$180.00 and decided not to ask for a Manager. I had no energy what-so-ever to 'explain, point-out & debate', over this Horrid smell with upper management. This 'tank', should have been noticed before clientele ever arrived. So I 'chalked it up", as NEVER AGAIN!! We were both in need of a massage that we tried to forget the smell. As soon as I laid my head down, My Massage therapist, "Saba', took away my ill concerns. She was exceptional!! She was not only courteous, respectful & very attentive to my specific aches & pains, but, took her time and showed she cared of my much needed stress relief. Very rare, customer service attentiveness.NOT ONCE DID SHE CLOCK WATCH, NOR RUSH. We were their last appointments of the day. She was the most caring, most attentive, Spa Therapist, I have had in a very long time. As far as my friends' therapist, she mentioned she was good, but needed more 'Massage & Attentive", skills. But, still a good masseuse. So, in essence if you decide to go to the Fulton Ave, location in Sacramento, PLEASE ASK GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR & GET "SABA" or someone as caring as she. AN EXCEPTIONAL THERAPIST, WORTH YOUR TIME & HARD EARNED MONEY. ;) 'MELLOW ME OUT' IS FORTUNATE TO HAVE HER, NOT VICE- VERSA.
THANK YOU FOR READING.

last year my boyfriend(who lives out of town) surprised me with an hour massage. I had a little difficulty finding the place because I was new in town... I was 7 minutes late for my appointment when i got a phone call from Mellow Me Out demanding wanting to know where I was. I told her I was around the corner. She scolded me telling me she could only do a 45 minute massage since I was late and she practically hung up on me. I wasn't worried about that, because my boyfriend had already paid. About 3 minutes later I arrived and was ignored once I got into the salon... waited for a couple of minutes and finally was taken back to the room. The girl was cold with me, and kept lashing out about how she can give me a message for 45 minutes. I told her thats not a problem. It was the most painful massage I've ever had, and I was uncomfortable the entire time. Finally it was over... and I was taken out to the waiting room again. The rude girl stopped me and told me I needed to pay for the 45 minutes - repeating again to the receptionist that i was late. I told her that my boyfriend had paid for this as a surprise because i was stressed. She didn't believe me ! She made the receptionist check. Once she realized that I was pre-paid and that she was going to get paid for the hour, even though it was only 45 minutes she tried to smile at me. I was so angry I just walked out the door, no tip.. nothing ! It was my first and last time in this place.. I didn't complain because I didn't want my boyfriend to know how horrid it was- since he paid ! I will never go back to this place. There are a couple of really nice places in Sacramento.. and they are cheaper then this place too !

I've been to the Fulton location many times for massages and once for massage/paraffin treatment and I really like this place. I wouldn't say that it's an upscale place, but it's a very comfortable setting with funky decor. I have to say that some of the receptionists that work there are not that friendly, but I wouldn't say they are unfriendly either. All the massage therapists I've ever had there are really good about giving lots of pressure and getting rid of muscle tension. The prices are pretty reasonable too.

I've frequented the Fulton location for mellow me out and I've always had a pleasant and relaxing time. The staff is generally courteous. They don't seem to mind if I'm early and always offer the Kat Lounge to relax before hand. They also don't through a fuss when I'm a little late. The estiticians have all been kind, knowledgeable and friendly save one, who I believe is no longer working there. Because of my great experiences with this location I decided to try out the downtown location since it is closer to my home. The location does not have the same feel as it is located in an office building on Capital St. I tried to overlook the cold industrial colors but it was hard to overlook the cold and snody staff. My message was of par both times but the reception and post treatment atmosphere was lacking. I would recommend the Fulton location to anyone but until they have some adjustments in the general staff of the downtown location I would just drive the few extra miles. It?s worth it.

I've been to the downtown and fulton locations having gone about 5 times now, 4 of which were a different mix of the couples packages. And 1 recently, actually yesterday, which i got the the Tarzan package for a father's day gift at the Fulton location. Every time we've been to Mellow Me Out the customer service and the experience there has been awesome. I've been to many spa locations from your hole in the wall day spa to the Bellagio Day Spa in Las Vegas, and i've got to say that for the price, environment, customer service, and experience it's definitely one of the best day spas in Sacramento. It may not be an environment like that of a luxury Bellagio day spa but then again you're not paying $400 for a couples massage. I really enjoyed the foot and hand rescue as well as the facial that I got with the package?I know it?s kinda feminine but hey?it was a gift, at least that?s my excuse. I?d like to thank the staff and owner for having such a great place to go to to relieve stress.

I arrived at the Fulton location about 8 minutes before my 75-min facial was scheduled to start. I was approached by an employee dying to give me a run-down of the featured body care products in the dimly lit waiting area. His describing the cinnamon-paprika hand lotion as having a "cinnamon-y-paprika-y smell" left me feeling that exuberance does not equal my wanting to talk about my skin care needs. Waiting, I noted the "clean-enough" floor and the receptionists conversing in the famous "gossip-whisper" behind the counter. I was soon warmly greeted by my well-mannered, young esthetician, who led me through the inner corridors into the almost-dark Safari room. At exactly one-minute past my scheduled session time, I changed in the very small room into a well-used terry cover-up and hopped into a heated massage chair. Just when I began to think the hit-and-miss ambient music was too loud, I decided the walls were too thin and listened to laughter in the next room, throughout my entire session. As we were beginning, I specifically requested that I would like to have extractions performed. She acknowledged that they were part of the treatment but when it came time to do the dirty work, she spent a few minutes looking and looking but doing very little extracting. (We all know it is the number one skin trick that you shouldn't try at home, but it was almost like she didn't feel comfortable doing it, slipping twice on my nose.) The hand and foot massage that comes with the facial was more moisturizing than therapeutic. My hair was saturated with lotion a few inches into my hairline and I had to wipe off my hands before touching my clothes. Even though I felt like I had woken up from a nap when I handed over my money, the real disappointment came when I found myself sitting in my car at the time when my esthetician she should have been sweetly telling me that she will be waiting outside for me with a glass of cold water.

Cons: session shortened by ten minutes

I am changing my review from a 1 to a 3 stars because the owner of the salon reached out to address my concerns after a mishap at the salon. But the massage was great and my issues were addressed. Good luck & thank you.

I went there for a 90 minute couple's massage and it was the worst "massage" I had ever had, yet the most expensive. The masseuse did not say two words to me the entire time. It was an hour and a half massage and I got MAYBE 20 minutes of work on my back, which needed it the most. The rest of the time she just walked around me, rubbing my limbs. She was as lazy as they come. I asked her three times to apply more pressure and even found myself pushing my hands & feet against her hand to try to create my own pressure! Talk about UN-relaxing....while you sit there fuming about the money you are flushing down the drain on a horrible massage!

Just what I expected and more! I needed a massage for an aching back and they worked out all the kinks. Very friendly staff and made me want to come back. (I ended up booking another appointment).

A little side note. It's obvious that the negative comments listed on this site are the work of the same individual. By the common words they use, punctuation, spelling errors, etc,. I think it is the work of a former employee who couldn't make it there due to his/her poor work ethic. If a therapist is not up to parr, they will not last long at Mellow Me Out. I know they are required to help out around the office and for the most part everyone seems to be a team player.

A little advice for the person posting the negative comments: RETURN TO SCHOOL. Learn to spell and don't spend so much time on the internet speaking bad about hard working individuals, unlike yourself.

I got a facial in Mellow Me Out on Fulton and it just wasn't that great. The facial itself was pretty good and relaxing, but the customer service was simply horrible. The carpets were dirty and the place just seemed to have never been moped or vacuumed. (And there weren't that much carpet!) I tried to stay positive, but the receptionist was rude and snapped at me. I understand that some people maybe going through a rough day but come on, you're at work trying to relax people. And I'm not even the catty type. It made me not want to pay them because of their rudeness. I sure wanted to get out of there quick! No recommendations here!!

I must admit..l was worried coming here after reading some of the reviews but my fears were put to rest once I got here. I have now been to two locations for Mellow Me Out and both have served me well. The Fulton location is different from your average spa...it has character. If you want total luxury with a staff who are as sterile as the marble floor you're walking on, then go somewhere else and pay those prices. But if you want an atmosphere that is funky and the people who work there seemed to be allowed to have a little fun, then go to the Mellow Me Out on Fulton (and not have to pay an arm and leg for a massage). If you want a more contemporary feel to a spa, then go the the Mellow Me Out that is downtown.

In a nutshell, the people who have complianed may have caught someone on a bad day. We're all entiled to have one. But I've been coming to Mellow Me Out for a while now and if I actually communicate what I need, then I usually get it.

Cons: Parking sometimes

I must open this by saying Iam a avid spa goer. I have monthly treatments all over town at some of the best places. I had an appointment with my regular esthetician at another day spa. Then she became ill and had to cancel. My skin was in serious need of a facial so I guess I got desperate.I made an appointment at mellow me out because the use the same fab line as I get at my other spa. I must say I was pleased they had a last minute opening. When I arrived I walked in and almost fainted. Who ever decorated this spa needs to be taken out and shot. I was greeted immeaditly and it was too late to make a run for it. I looked at the horrible fabric hanging from the walls, the faux finish on the walls done oh so poorly. It was a mess corny and cheap!!!! not relaxing at all!!! My esthetician greeted me shortly and was very sweet. She took me into the facial room. It was like a bedroom in a colledge dormroom. Painted barney purple with cheap linens. Bottles of products and boxes of gloves were on shelves everywhere. It was chaotic. My facial was actually pretty good.Michelle was very attentive and listened to me.Nice slow massage.I did like my facial.I might go back if Iam desperate again. Its not her fault after all, that the owner is insane.

Typically I am a man who never goes to day spas. I have been to 2 in my 30+ years and the services have been so-so. However, I needed a massage bad (too much stress lately). The staff was very nice when I arrived. The spa is extremely clean, relaxing, and has soothing fragrances that help relax you as you just come in through the door. And my expericence just got better. I was able to unwind in the "cat lounge". A comfortable room to use prior to your service. Whoever decorated this place gets an A+. Even the bathrooms, I need a clean bathroom, and it was spotless. Then came time for the massage. The room was unlike anything I have experienced. So relaxing, warm, comfortable, and all the while getting an awsome massage that I didn't want to end.
Mellow Me Out knows what it takes to provide an excellent spa experience. I highly recommend it for everyone who needs to just step away from reality and drift off into lala land. I love it. Who would've thought me, a mans man, would re-book and start to think, "wow, this just might have to be a way of life for me from here on out"!!!
I was even able to pick up some gifts as they have a variety of retail items in the lobby.

Thank you Mellow Me Out, and I will certainly see you again very soon.

Mellow Me Out is my company and quality customer service and friendly atmostphere can make or break a business! We have had 6 years of tremendous success in Sacramento because of our clients enjoying great spa treatments and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. I would like to ask any City Search members who have had a bad experience with my spas to contact me directly at our main number so we may address the situation and make sure your next experience will be one you would "highyly recommend" to your friends.

Pros: 3 Locations--Fulton, Downtown, CSUS; Open 7 days 9am-9pm; wide variety of services; group party room; couples pkgs

I have had massages at many different places here in the Sacramento Area and have yet to find a place where I would actually go back. Until I found mellow me out. I decided to treat myself to an hour massage after a really stressful week. They didn?t have any time slots available for the time that I needed but told me that they would call me if something in my time slot opened up. Low and behold they ended up calling me two days later. Not only did they have the follow up and customer service you can?t get anywhere else but my massage was incredible. I have never received a massage that was that relaxing EVER. I have bounced around from massage place to massage place but no more. I will only go to mellow me out from now on.

I went to get a message and facial and had to wait 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. While waiting, the front desk assistant didn?t even acknowledge me or at least apologize for the inconvenience when she informed me that the masseuse would be late. The masseuse was running late and so I didn?t receive my full message. After receiving my message I was quickly ushered out back to the front desk to check out because they forgot that I also had a facial scheduled. I was disappointed with their lack of courtesy and professionalism. I definitely do not recommend this place if you are looking for quality service and expecting a tranquil experience.

I agree with the poster who said the front desk people are not very friendly. Don't expect any sort of customer service from the Fulton location. Despite the fact that everytime I've gone there, I have had to wait, the one time that I call as a courtesy to let them know I am running late I am told they will be taking 10 minutes off my massage. I had made appointments for a friend and I to get an hour long full body massage and not only did they take more than 10 minutes off, we still had to pay for the full hour. While my masseuse did give me a full body massage it was only an average massage. My friend, however, was told that since she was late, they would only massage her from the waist up. I've gone to classier day spas with ten times the service.

I made an appointment for one of the special monthly packages offered. The receptionist wasn't too friendly over the phone. When I showed up for my spa package, the receptionist again was short with me. I had a spa package that included a massage, facial, and pedicure. All three therapists were really good at their work. When I checked out, the receptionist charged me for the three different items separately and not as a package even though that wasn't how I booked my appointment. I knocked off two stars because of the poor front desk skills. Too bad because I had otherwise excellent service.

I went there for a pedicure. The very nice young woman seemed to have just graduated from esthetician school and did not really know how to do a good pedicure. I am really not that picky. Everyone I spoke to was very nice but the room I was in was more like a closet with a curtain right in the reception area. They may have changed all of this by now but I would not go back after that experience.

Congrats to Mellow Me Out for opening a 3rd spot. Hitting the downtown market was a wonderful idea. A very different atmosphere from the Fulton Ave location, and the best of the best of their staff. Beautiful building with a great restaurant below 55degrees to enjoy your after service complimentary Martini!

The front desk staff is not very friendly, especially on the phone. My friends and I came in for "margarita night", which was to include a foot bath before our service. However, when we arrived we were told that the all of the foot baths were in use and we were given foot massagers instead. Needless to say, it was a dissapointment. My massage therapist was great, but my friends' said theirs were "good". Overall, the experience was only average. I do however like that they were affordable and that many packages are available. I would probably try other places rather than return to Mellow Me Out.

It was the week before my wedding, and as any bride to be knows wedding = STRESS. So my fiancee took me to Mellow Me Out. I have been to other day spa's before, but nothing like this. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and hello's. From there I was taken back for my services, by my surprise they offered many options. I had a deep tissue massage followed by a facial, waxing, and a pedicure. The rooms that I passed by seemed to all have different themes, which I thought was a nice touch. It wasn't just plain colors on the wall, it made you feel like you were on a vacation. At the end of my day, everyone congradulated me on my wedding and sincerely hoped to see me again. Now that I'm married, I can't wait to try their couples packages!

I have only used Mellow Me Out for their massages, although I know that they offer all kinds of spa services. I went in for a couples massage with my husband. We got our massages side by side in a candle lit room. It was the most relaxing massage I've ever had. The atmosphere was perfect with light zen-like music twinking along with the candles. After the massage we got a foot bath and champagne. It was a wonderful experience and the staff was exceptional. This was one of the first massages I've had (and I've had lots!) where I walked away feeling relaxed and my muscles didn't immediately tighten back up. I'm definitely going back for my anniversary!

This place has the best ambiance among all the massage parlors I have ever been to. They offer you something to drink (various options) and they honestly treat you like a queen/king. For the services they do and the friendly staff.. no price is too much for this institution. They are above everyone else. They remember your name if you go back several times, they are constantly trying to keep you comfortable.. and that's even BEFORE a massage or facial.. etc.

This day spa has a relaxing atmosphere with a wild cat theme. They offer massage, facials, waxing, manicures, pedicures, permanent make up, air brush tanning, body wraps, Vichey waterfall treatment, and some excellent spa packages. Their website describes every treatment in detail.
My first spa package was the "Kool Kat" which included a facial, full body massage, and foot jacuzzi for only $99. The staff offered me hot tea, coffee, water, or wine with my foot jacuzzi as I sat in their relaxing room decorated with cats on the walls and leopard print pillows on the chairs. My massage therapist was excellent. She asked what I needed and wanted in my massage and was very skillful. You can request either a male or female massage therapist. The facial was very relaxing as well. They asked me details about my skin type and current face care routine. They offered me some expensive cleansers and lotions to buy, but didn't push them too hard on me. On my next visit to this spa, I chose to get a 60 minute massage for $58. Again, my therapist was great. This time, I noticed that each massage room is decorated in a different theme. I was in the "Rome" room. It was quiet and the massage was completely relaxing. I haven't yet tried anything other than the massage, but I really want to try their European Vichey water treatment. I saw the room, and it looks like you lie down under a series of water spouts that pour warm water all over your body as the therapist scrub your body with a body scrub scented with your choice of scents. They even offer a massage for pregnant women. One fun experience that they offer is a "Mellow Out Margarita Party" (non alcoholic). At this party, you and your friends can get spa treatment together while you sip margaritas. They also offer massage for couples and special treatments just for men. They always seem to have some surprise when I go there. Last time, it was my birthday, so they gave me a free t-shirt. Its a great deal and super fun

PROS: excellent service and reasonable prices.

TESTIMONY: A guest staying at our hotel (the Sacramento Hilton; 2200 Harvard St, 95815) was given a recommendation for this spa, and she came back raving (happily). Because of a neck injury, she had special needs as far as massages go, and Mellow Me Out gave that to her. She was so satisfied that she brought several business cards for us to hand out to other guests.
