Absolutely the best ITALIAN coffee in San Francisco, not to mention their cappuccino. Do we want to talk about the desserts? (Tiramisu' or Cannoli). Really outstanding quality and service.Lately they have also added a lunch menu (pastas, sandwich, ...) try the gnocchi, are outstanding. Please note that this place is no longer a book store (even though it still sells some books). I live in the area and come here almost regularly. A very nice place...oh...and they have FREE wireless.Manager and employee have always been very nice with me, i find hard to believe the previous review! If you are looking for a nice Italian coffee, good food, friendly service, free wireless, not too crowded place, in North Beach this is definitely the place to go !

Completely agree with last reviewer. Extremely rude management/employees. I was asked to leave because my friend (who I introduced to the cafe) was having a drink and I was not. (keep in mind no one was waiting for any table, there were plenty of empty tables) This would never happen in Starbucks, or any cafe with trained employees for that matter. In France it's illegal. If you want to watch a super ignorant and arrogant manager running a business badly and treating people rudely, then visit this cafe. Otherwise, skip it. There are several great alternatives nearby.

Pros: Rude management and employees

Cons: No good food would compensate for employees attitude

I was a regular customer for this bookstore. It is a bit pricy. I bought many expensive CDs and books from their collection to help polish my Italian. Recently I decided not to buy anything in this store any more due to unprofessional, insulting and inappropriate conduct of a young sales person. It always does take time for me to select a book and I am not willing to hear anything like "if you take a book you have to buy it" five minutes after I opened it, especially if it is a Bible. I used to peruse any book stores in San Francisco for many hours and I was really stunned by such unfriendliness.

Cavalli is a great book dealer midway between Chinatown and Northbeach, right on the brink. Ive perused in there many times and they have a very interesting, diverse, and eclectic selection. Check it out if youre ever in the area, and especially if youre interested in ancient European history, youll love this place.

A. Cavalli sells Italian imports. From books to CD's, newspapers to pasta makers. The owner can be a bit grumpy and being a small shop, sometimes the hours can be tough to predict. But worth a stop especially for Italian DVDs and periodicals.
