This is a nice cafe on a main street but not too busy, to stop by. The prices are reasonable and they have a good espresso and cappucino. Nice to hear the Italians here and there talking in the background, it adds autenticity to the bar.

Had never been to this place before but from what the waiter told me it has recently had a makeover. The food was wonderful, the staff warm and friendly. I'll definitely eat here again! After dinner we decided to check out the upstairs bar and what a surprise... such a cool bar with a great patio for smokers (where do you find that in L.A. anymore???)! We ended up staying the entire evening listening to the great music and hanging out with a very anti-hollywood, cool crowd! We're told that every Friday night brings in this crowd - what an undiscovered little gem this place is - I'll be stopping in after work every Friday, that's for sure!

I've lived in West Hollywood for a few years now and I recently came across this hidden gem, Benvenuto Cafe. My friend had her birthday dinner there and it was such a fantastic experience! They have an amazing patio that was perfect for our group and the ambience was key-felt very magical! The food was delicious Italian and the service was truly on par with the best I've ever had in LA. They really wanted to make it a great night for us and their attitude and attention to detail spoke volumes! I would definitely go back for lunch, dinner or have a bday party there. They actually have an amazing lounge space on the 2nd floor with an even bigger patio they rent out...would be perfect to have an intimate party with friends! you must try this Benvenuto!!!

The new menu here is excellent. I eat here once a week now with friends and love everything I have tried so far. After reading some of the ridiculous reviews listed here (most likely written by fired employees. lol) i decided to give my opinion. The menu sports a nice selection of salads, pastas, pizzas and meat dishes. I am a big fan of the Caprese salad here. I also quite like the Pasta Pommodoro, Capalini Carbonara, and Piccata Chicken dishes. Nice tasty pizzas as well. Friendly staff and nice outdoor patio perfect for people watching.

What a major let down...Drove by this usually busy place several times, and thought I'd check it out...The service was very slow...The appetizers were very mediocre...Similar to a cheap chain food establishment...I had to send my entree back because it was inedible...Extremely salty and not cooked...I don't recall ever sending my food back at another restaurant...My friend's entree was not good either, but we both picked at it because we were hungry...The place is a joke...I can't believe they are still open...Maybe because they have an attractive outdoor front patio??? Certainly not for their food!

Even though I have lived in the area for about 8 years, I had never eaten at Benvenuto. Last night, I decided to give it a shot. First off, the menu is lacking. The menu just doesn't have any choices. There were a couple of appetizers, three salads, four pizza, about 6 pastas and about 4 entrees. This wouldn't be a problem if they all weren't just carbs and tomato with one thing different added to call it something else. The sauces tasted like store bought sauce, actually worse than store bought sauce. My friend ordered the lobster ravioli on recommendation from the server, but he had to send it back because it was extremely salty and hard from being undercooked. Even with the caprese salad that we started with, the tomatoes were mushy and the cheese dry.

This was by far the worst meal I have had in an LA cafe or restaurant.

The waiter was very kind and gracious, I'll give you that. But he explained that the sparse menu and doubled prices were due to the evolving culinary styles of the new chef. Okay, there's a chef.

So I ordered a caesar salad and a pizza.

The "salad" came in a flat pizza plate with three romaine lettuce patches and four croutons on the side. Seriously, salad now comes in garnish size.

Then came the pizza -- which was flat and tasteless and neither chewy nor crunchy. It brings back the nostalgia of being a teenager on summer break, microwaving a crappy pizza at the mini-mart. It's about as low end as you can get.

It was a $30 meal that tasted cheap and unsatisfying.

I think these guys are banking on the novelty of The Doors and the hipster patio vibe of Weho. And good for them. But I would not recommend this place to my friends or my enemies.

Tried the salami pizza and it was amazing. We tried the chicken parmesan and potato ravioli with brown butter and both were top notch!!! This place is for foodies and no rookies. The reviews kind of scared me but I have heard some good buzz about this place regarding menu change so I gave it a try and you know what I am glad i did. This is not your typical Italian place and that is why most people do not like the food. the food is simple and the ingredients do all the talking. Try this place and don't let the reviews scare you!!! This place is gem in hollywood, where most places are about the bar scene, this place is about the food!!!!

Heard from my friend about this place and changing menus and this was fantastic. I got scallop risotto and lasagna and it was really awesome. I really do not know what people are talking about saying the new menu is bad. Its fantastic. I eat at Spago once a week and this place uses the same good ingredients as a high end restaurant. You should really try this place if you understand and appreciate good food. If you like buca di pebbo and all that kind of food, don't come here and stop writing stupid reviews. If you like great food and ingredients please try this place!!!!

Not that this place needs another bad review but it truly was not good. The food is overpriced, and too salty. My friend could barely eat 3 bites of her lamb. The ambience is shabby and not too chic, service is questionable. Definitely would never come back here

I ate at Benvenuto last night and I am still dreaming about it. The food was amazing and delicious. The quality of the ingredients were apparent in every magnificent bite. I am reading the other reviews and I don't understand them at all, I guess our country is used to eating microwave lasagna and Italian food by Lean Cuisine. The price is definetly worth it because it is the best Italian food we have had in California. I think the new food is truly a gem in Los Angeles, don't miss it!!!

Been coming here for 2 years and came tonight and saw new menu!! The new menu is smaller and a little more expensive, but the food is amazing. I always came because it was a cozy and relaxed place but I am now coming because of the food. We got the lasagna and Ossobuco and it was just great. Got to meet the new chef when he was walking around and he was very nice and cordial. The staff seemed in general to be in a much better mood than usual. Anyway give it a try and you will not be disappointed. You will receive real food now instead of the regular mass produced Italian chain restaurant food.!!!

I used to love Benvenuto - it was a cozy neighborhood Italian place with solid food and an extensive menu. In fact, I was very excited when my partner told me we were going there last Saturday. When we made the reservations, the staff indicated they had a new chef, new menu, etc. and we were intrigued.

Unfortunately, Benvenuto is trying to transform itself into something it can never be. The menu selection was sparse and the prices had almost doubled. While they did take time to put nice white table cloths on the tables and other attempts to "dress the place up" a bit, we still received our water in huge plastic diner style glasses and the TV in the dining room was showing highlights from the USC/UCLA game - hardly an atmosphere that supports the prices.

Even worse than the clumsy attempt at remaking this restaurant, was the food. I received my pasta which was stone cold and half the pieces were not fully cooked. I sent it back to the kitchen and by the time it had returned, all of my friends had finished their dinners. The restaurant did provide two free deserts to the table, but that did little to alleviate this horrible experience.

I can only hope the owners of Benvenuto quickly realize the error of their ways and bring back the old Benvenuto!

I've been going to Benvenuto for years. It was one of my favorite places to go for casual Italian food. I was very disappointed to see that they have changed their menu when I stopped by this weekend. They have limited the selection and increased their prices significantly. For example, their lasagna used to be around $14 but now they added some veal to it and are charging $23. Their higher prices are not warranted in the quality of the food they are serving. It is also difficult to accept the higher prices when they are still serving water in plastic glasses and two TVs are on in the dining room throughout our meal.

Bring back the old Benvenuto.

My first time in this location and lucked out on new menu and new chef. I am from northern Italy and I can tell you the food was amazing. The prosciutto, arugula and white truffle oil pizza was in my opinion fantastic and the meatballs were like it was made by my own grandmother. The quality of the ingredients used are amazing and top notch. Service was slightly slow but the food was well worth the wait. The desserts were fantastic and well balanced. From real Tiramisu from Venice to a sophisticated Valrhona chocolate and raspberry mousse cake. This restaurant will give Osteria Angelini a run for its money. My dad is coming from Turino, Italy next week and these two restaurant are where I am taking him to experience good, true Italian food!!!!!

Having been a regular Benvenuto customer for years I have always enjoyed their food. Just dined there tonight under new management - new chef - new menu and I can tell you, do not bother! The quality of the food is horrible, the prices have been raised and the portions have been reduced. They no longer have salads or specials and the service was exceptionally slow despite the fact that the restaurant was only half full on a Saturday night.

I complained to the waiter and the manger about how horrible my food was and yet still, they didn't comp me for anything. I live right across the street from the restaurant and had enjoyed going there for years. That is no longer the case.

If you are looking for a great place to go to on a regular basis, this restaurant is a local favorite. It offers a great outdoor dining experience and they offer a wide selection from their menus. Like most places in Hollywood, there may be a wait for a table or slow service but overall you will like it. Make this restaurant one of your choices.

Years ago I used to love this restaurant and then it declined but decided to give it another try recently after they expanded their patio. All our dishes were a disappointment which is a shame because I have such fond memories of this place.

I have to agree with the last reviewer. I went there this past Saturday night. It was 3 of us and we got a table right away. I love the new renovation, but the service is sooo SLOW!. I would say it took us about an hour for dinner. We had to ask a few times for bread which took forever. Everytime we had to ask a 2nd time or so the waitress would have an excuse. Then we ordered the Apple Tart, which wasn't even hot. When the waitress came back and asked how it was we told her it sucked. She made excuses and said it was always good. She didn't even offer to take it off. So we get the bill and I added up what I got. Wow I was shocked. I had the special, Chicken sundried tomato Risoto. Now who would have thought it was $22.50. They had Lobster Ravioli and that was only about $17. I guess they had to raise to the prices to pay for the new spot. But for reals, chicken/pasta dish is over $22. What a rip off. Oh and the tomato mozzerela salad was like almost $13. The made the place almost 3 times the seating and didn't enlarge the kitchen or staff. So sad cause it is a great outdoor spot, but not worth the wait. I have no problems with the prices if the service was exceptional. I don't know if I would return, well maybe not until they get the kinks out. Bad move on their part.

I have been going to Benvenuto for many years and was disappointed recently when we chose to dine here with a group of friends. The service was so bad that it ruined our night. We could not get bread or water to save ourselves. It was like we were in prison. When the bread finally arrived, it was burnt and was one piece per person. The main courses arrived for three of our five guests and we had to eat it before it got cold. By the time those of us who had food were finished, they came with the additional two dishes for our famished guests. We declined to accept these because by then, no bread, no water, hurried staff, waiters and busboys overwhelmed by the crowds, we just wanted out. They came back and told us that the chef was giving us the plates on the house and that we should just take it....we said that we wanted the check. When the check came, they had not taken the food that we declined (twice) off the bill! I am so sorry that this happened. When I need my fix of their food, I will have to just order in. But I wont go back to a place that treats its guests like that again and it is a shame because I have been going there for years.

The Lasagna and the smoked chicken stuffed (tortelinni?) are FAB! This place is well worth going...if there is a wait, there's a cute little bar upstairs and they'll come get you when your table is ready.
