The food is awesome, and everyone knows it! So it's standing room only, waiting for a table, elbow to elbow~ eh! If you hate that kind of scene, if you're a barfly, if you'ld rather sit in a plush wrap-around booth and stare at a tv over

I've eaten there three times over the past two years. In my judgment, this food is so lousy that it seems impossible that it could be either cooked, eaten, owned or operated by my fellow Jews. The chicken soup is unspeakably bad. The potato pancakes are overcooked with second tier sour cream. The bread is also lousy. I think the only people who eat there and "love it" are those who have never eaten real deli and don't know any better. This is clearly the worst of the long list of infinitely better deli options in the LA area.....from Canter's, Greenblatt's, Nate & Al's, Art's Deli, Jerry's, Factor's and Langer's. These guys at Brent's are getting away with murder. Imagine having an "egg cream" made with 2 percent milk or water. Ok? Get it now? They violate the three tenets of a good deli: chicken soup, bread and sour cream. If these aren't good, all hope is lost. Eh..What's the big deal...we're not curing Cancer. However, if you're desperate for food and everyone else is closed, I'd recommend it. Otherwise, hold out for MREs.

We were looking for a good deli close by -- usually we would do Mort's in Tarzana, but that's a litte far for us now. Brents had a great menu, great dishes, and nice deserts. I had a cornbeef on pastrami and rye, which was decent. The black and whites from the bakery were wonderful, top notch. Definitely a place we will keep on our go-to list.

and went to Brent's for the first time since I've been away. It's nowhere as good as I remember, and has gotten very expensive. $20 for a corned beef sandwich and a drink, tax, and tip is a lot of money..

We have been going to Brent's for years. It is the best. My husband and I always order the Chicken in the Pot and share. It comes with chicken, matzo balls, and other stuff. YUM. Every once in a while I order a sandwich and end up taking 3/4 of it home and eating it over several days. We have also ordered trays to have at our family gatherings. It is Deli food at its best.

My boyfriend and I are always on the hunt to find the best sandwich in this part of the valley. I had read about Brent's online and decided we should try it. It was by far the best sandwich that I've had in a long while. The french dip turkey and pastrami sandwich was to die for. Brent's is a bit expensive for the sandwich, but you'll discover it's well worth it when you take the first bite!

Without hesitation I can say this is your best bet for GREAT deli fare. My family has been eating at Brent's since the joint opened, and we've never been dissapointed with the food or the service. The catering is awesome for a low-key get together.

Over the years I spent many a hot Sunday afternoon waiting patiently for a table. As the minutes passed I daydream about the tasty chicken noodle soup, the succulent hot pastrami sandwich (or Monte Cristo...depending on our mood), the decadent chocolate eclair. Sometimes when I don't have the time to wait, I phone in my order to-go and bypass the line!

My friend told me how great Brent's e was. So I went in for a quick lunch and find that the place is really packed. I was by myself so i was seated pretty quickly. I got the French Dip, and usually im always disappointed by it everywhere i go. They did one hell of a job for just a French Dip. And the potato salad is to die for.
I don't get out here offten but when I'm in the area and looking for a good sandwich Brents is where I'm going.

just ate there wednesday may 21,2008
My first time there , my eyes popped out when I saw the deserts displayed, they looked delicious
but after I ate my meal there was no room left for desert. I do recomend this casual place for
a leisurely meal. the service was good, and the chilli size was delicious and abundant,
the fries abundant and good, the pastrami good, the pickles good, everything we had was good
there were seven adults in my group, we all had a good time and were pleased with the
food. I will be looking for any excuse to go back.

Brent's for breakfast is the best. There is almost always a wait but it's worth it. You can also get all watermelon instead of fruit and they give you a ton of watermelon!I highly recommend the special steak and eggs!

I'm dumbfounded by the raves this place receives. Yes, it's good; very good. But it's nowhere near the good NY deli's, or even Langers, and certainly not Nate n Al's. It's just not - period. Valley denizens, please get over it. Corned beef can be good when not rubbery, but spices are inconsistent. Too much clove and allspice. Rye bread is the best around, unless you need a Diamond bakery corn rye.

Don't see what all the fuss is about. Good beef, pastrami, soups, but way overpriced, compared to Weilers.
Also, too crowded for me. I don't know why the traffic is so heavy , as the food is ok, but overpriced

My wife and I have been going to Brent's for years and continue to go at least once a week. Over the years our tastes have changed but we now share a half salad and a Black Pastrami Rueben almost everytime we dine.
Special shout out to our favorite servers, Wendy, Andria and Francisco.
Everytime we go we are bound to see friends, family or people who just look familiar.

The prices are really not high compared to the famous NY delis where the sandwiches are $20, no exaggeration. The pastrami is divine but I can't help but go for the cinnamon raisin french toast, since they serve breakfast all day. Always wanted to try one of the practically football-size eclairs, but we're always too full...

They just put out a new menu with much higher prices. They are now the most expensive deli for their fish platters in all of Los Angeles. They used to be a good deal, but come on going from a good deal to the highest deli prices for what they serve. I won' t be going back there anymore. They have just lost a good customer and already told them so. The owner just looked at me and didn't care.

I was first taken here by a friend from New York who NEVER has anything good to say about LA Deli's. He will go only to this place and Langer's. I was skeptical, but this place won me over and I go there whenever I get the chance. (and, you don't feel like you need a bodyguard in the neighborhood, like you do at Langers)

If this place were placed in the middle of Manhattan, it would easily compete with New York's finest deli's. Their soups are exceptionally good especially the cabbage and matzo ball.

Sandwiches are large and delicious. The fresh roasted turkey sandwich is a must get. Get it with tomato, lettuce and mayo. I was also pleasantly surprised with their pastrami, it could hold it's own in New York.

When I think of deli food I think of pastrami. How good can a deli be when the bread is better than the pastrami in the sandwich? If you want the best pastrami then you must go to Langer's (best deli in L.A., in the worst location). The best thing on the menu here is the cabbage soup, next is the fish platter, then the chicken stir- fry (a meal in itself). This place is over-hyped, and over-crowded, but good for a few items.

After having breakfast at Brent's we felt the food and service were OK, but nothing to write home about. Omelette was acceptable, meaning we have had better as well as worse. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices were typical deli - a bit on the expensive side. We are not opposed to spending $10 per person for breakfast but feel the food as well as service should warrant the price paid. Bottom line: we might return if in the area but feel there are a number of other deli's serving up better food at the same or less cost.

Brent's is the best deli around, hands down. The sandwiches are massive and the meats excellent. If you're a pastrami lover try the Black Forest Pastrami. Its flavor will knock your socks off. Try it as a Reuben or just as a Pastrami sandwich. The knishes, Blintzes, mazto ball soup are all fantastic. I've been to most of the other delis in this city, and there are some very good ones, but Brents in my opinion is the best. Especially when it comes to the sandwiches.

I've been to Brent's multiple times - usually for breakfast. By absolute favorite is the bagels, lox, and cream cheese platter. The bagels are fresh and delicious, and the lox is hand cut - always fresh. Best I've ever had. Service is great. It does get busy early - so go early - or at off times, unless you don't mind waiting. Their food is also served in the bar next door - but the bar allows smoking which is a real turn off when you're trying to eat great deli food!

I have been going to Brent's since I was a teenager! Their food portions are generous and the wait is worth it. Their sandwiches are enourmous. Ambience? Come on, it's a Deli!!! With it's popularity, you could have a long wait, even at lunch.

I have been going to Brent's since I was a teenager! Their food portions are generous and the wait is worth it. Their sandwiches are enourmous. Ambience? Come on, it's a Deli!!! With it's popularity, you could have a long wait, even at lunch.

Pros: Good food, Large portions

Cons: Loud, Long wait

.

If you want a lot of food this is the place to go. It might be a little loud but what Jewish deli isn't?

I don't know what all the hype is about? Mediocre deli food at best. Zagat says this is on par with Campanille in the city. What gives?

A experience that could be New York. Always crowded. Close quarters. Great service. I have never been disapointed there. The price on the menu may seem high, however when they bring the food to your table, all is good with the world.

Pros: Food, Service, "New" pickles

Cons: almost always a wait, somewhat small tables

Okay, Brent's sandwiches are wonderful. Corned beef on rye here can't be beat, anywhere. But their breakfasts are amazing. Great omelettes and even better lox and eggs. Traditional deli fare and plenty of it.

Have been here before for lunches and dinner but never tried their breakfast. First of all, if you don't like waiting, you have to get here early - we arrived at 7:30 AM this past Saturday and were seated immediately, by 8:00 the place was just about filled up and a waiting line formed, by the time we left, there was a considerable line waiting to be seated. I had the deli omelette, which was pretty good and plentiful - I'm not sure the food served here deserves the praise I've seen posted by other readers, as I felt the food is good, but not knock-your-socks-off great. The service was fine, not stellar, but not bad either - just OK. If you are in the area, this might be a good pick, but I am not sure I'd go that far out of my way for Brent's.

Pros: Omelette

Sandwiches are stacked high and good portions given out. Noisy like a New York deli.
