FRAUD! FRAUD! FRAUD! DO NOT DO ANY BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!! Avoid at all cost. We ordered over 10,000 dollars worth of stuff back in nov. Of 2012 and it is now 2/20/14 and we have yet to see the two pedicure chairs we have ALREADY purchased. Jim, Nancy and anyone else that you speak to don't believe in a word they try to feed you. ALL LIES!!!! They even use the term when I called them out on all the lies. Jim said well I robbing Peter to pay Paul. WOW!!! Who says that. I'll tell you anyone and everyone in this company. AVOID.

Sometimes on these sites you cant believe what you read, however the 1 star reviews speak truth. I am not a x employee, in fact I was one of the many people that got lied to, screamed at, manipulated by IDI employees, and yes I spoke to Jim Fago and he is as manipulative and toxic as they say. What I want to say, besides agreeing with other salon owners that you dont get what you order in time, or not at all. That they add charges to you bill and you get used items etc etc etc.
The items in their "beautiful" warehouse are not the items you receive, their product and cabinetry delivered are extremely sub par quality, IDI builds crap, items that wont last the test of time, and the warranties they talk about having, good luck getting any of the sales people or Jim on the phone to do anything about it. Try Belvedere (you probably get what you pay for) or Salon Designers, they seem honest, but stay away from IDI.

For starters I would put NO stars but one is required! I have been an employee at Interstate Design Industries for 3 years. Finally, on March 23, 2011 I walked out, NOT FIRED by JIM FAGO as he is stating. The verbal abuse had gone TOO FAR. As an employee, I was 100% dedicated to this company. Working there was extremely difficult, we were working under hostile conditions. Jim Fago had no control of his yelling, tantrums and verbal abusive words, too clients yelling at us because equipment wasn't shipped to vendors upset for non-payment and then I was personally sued by one of their vendors for bills that Interstate Design Industries hadn't paid on. People should be treated with respect, that is ONE BIG thing I have learned from being there. By shairing with you, clients might understand why they were given the answers they were and maybe realize that the girls in the office were victims too. I will be writing a daily log to share my experience with Interstate Design,

4/15/11 As a former employee of IDI we did everthing we were asked to do. Jim Fago had his office staff protect him from angry clients. One's that hadn't received their full orders, one's that received not what they ordered. You name it. He made his staff look like the bad guys while he was the knight in shining armor, extremely nerve racking for his staff. As you know from the reviews Lorraine and Kathy were thrown under the bus, When the person responsible should have been Jim himself. It was stressful for us to deal and not be honest with you as the customer. My apologizes.. Also, I need to get this off my chest too, the postive reviews written were written by myself aka Kathy per Jim Fago. The negative reviews on this page are all correct. It hurts myself and Lorraine to have our names thrown all over the net, but it is what it was and we were only doing our jobs. Protecting our boss and we were very dedicated to him. Even during the months without paychecks and the struggle during the holidays we still protected him. With no respect at all because the yelling and tantrums continued.

4/26/11 Still to this day I am hearing horrible things that are being said about me. The latest is Nancy Fago had to call vendors per Jim Fago's demands and ask if I was taking kick backs from them in order to get supplies. He still doesn't seem to understand NO MONEY and vendors were tired of getting bounced checks, I dealt with the vendors that would work with Interstate Design Industries it was sad to have to work that way but I did what I could to get materials for the guys and to get the jobs out that we could. Unbelievable situation I was put in......

I am so glad I found this site. This Wednesday I went to go and purchase some salon equipment for my home salon. When I went upstairs all I heard was loud screaming and yelling. Not knowing what to do I left. This is not a place that I would want to spend my money. The man yelling sounded like a raving mad man. I left and will not ever return, I wish I had dialed 911, I have been troubled by this experience. I have read the other reviews and can say from being there at the wrong time leads me to believe the bad reviews over the good ones. I would call ahead to see if there is any drama going on before you arrive without an appointment like I did.

Well, where can I start I am a former employee and my experience with this company was horrifying. The owner Jim Fago would make us send used parts to his customers just to get the order filled and charge FULL price to them. What a ripoff artist he is. He talks a good talk but hides behind his office staff. He always makes his employees wait weeks and then some for a paycheck. Jim was extremely foul with his language and actions. If you aren't strong willed you would not be able to survive 5 mins. On several occassions orders would be placed, monies taken and then the client doesn't receive their merchandise. When the clients call in to talk with Jim, he would pass the phone to his office staff which would have to lie for him and cover his ASS.... The office staff was abused by his clients and vendors for non payment, not receiving their refunds and or not receiving their merchandise. The office staff did only has they were told. Finally, his last two remaining HARD ASS WORKERS in the office have walked out. They were NOT FIRED as he is saying, they walked!!! Watch before spending anytime or money with this company. Jim Fago puts on a good face but don't get taken.....

Being out of state and reading reveiws we were abit worried. However, we received our equipment. BEAUTIFUL! OMG.... We have had no problems with any questions we have had in regards to installation. I have been working with Interstate Design for 20 years. This company has done several of my salons over the years with a spectacular job. I have recommended them to several other people, in state and out and they have been very pleased. I am writing this review to let everyone know you are putting yourself in the right hands. The staff is always helpful and delivers what you need. Their equipment is well made and will last. I haven??t had to replace anything. I only have done a reupholster on a few of my chairs, that says a lot about a company and the manufacturing of the equipment. Enough can??t be said about their showroom, it is truly a showroom to see!! They have beautiful stations, shampoos, chairs, message, pedicure and many other items on display. I highly recommend Interstate Design and please don??t listen to the bad reviews written about this company. I hope that others who have been as satisfied as I have will write good reviews too?

I have a huge salon in Southern California and I am very HAPPY with the customer service I??ve received from the staff at IDI. They have honored their commitment by always being there. Their 35 years of experience is what makes this company so reliable. The owner goes out of his way to make sure you get the best lease, the right equipment and the confidence that is needed to make a business work. When and if you are in the Southern California area, please stop and visit IDI for your salon needs. The showroom is breath taking. No job is too big or small for IDI to handle. AWESOME SHOWROOM! A Must Visit!
As salon owners we were very pleased with our experinece with Interstate Design Industries. We flew out to meet with their design staff and walk through their beautiful showroom (WOW). We met with Jim and Lorraine and they were so helpful and knowledgeable. They designed our whole salon and made it work, and look beautiful. Opening a salon out of state, this was a terrific way to go. With the expertise of Interstate Design we have a beautiful salon. If you are considering opening or changing a salon, we would highly recommend IDI. Their 35 years of experinece shows in our salon. THANK YOU :)

I ordered only one nail table on November 24th. The invoice came out on November 30th. (Inhale)... ok. Lorraine (after me paying of course!) said it would take anywhere from two to four weeks for me to receive it. So I knew I was going to lose all my Christmas business at that point. When they emailed me the invoice it was wrong. It took for ever to receive the good one, as I had to (almost) beg for it. Ok. I requested an ETA on the table and Lorraine (more than 10 days ago) said she would let me know. I have been emailing her, calling her, making smoke signs to her and nothing. Finally, I called today and Kathy answered. I remembered she signed as "Office Manager" on my invoice email. I was soooo disapointed when I realized I was talking with a "manager" (not even the first letter deserves to be on CAP letters)... soooo poor customer service, she repeated the same thing every time I ask her about the table or told her about the horrendous customer service by Lorraine... "the provider has been closed until January because of the snow storms, they closed 7 days ago"... ok, I have been requesting this for AT LEAST the past TEN (10!!!) days!!! AAAAAarrrrgggghhhhh!!!.... So, now I know I should have looked for reviews before buing from them. And the sad thing, I choosed them and even pay more for the table than in other places just because they were a local (US) company and I thought they would take care of my business. I was so wrong. I agree. Where's the negative stars? They deserve them all!
Oh! and by the way... I'm still begging for my table.

As a business owner I looked around to see who would be a solid, ethical, american company to build my salon (not the case). IDI made sense, it has its own factory, it was in california. Since the first day there was inconsistency with information I received, however their sales people talk a good game of explaining all your concerns away, until..... you give them a deposit check, the amount of a new car, then, custom furniture, customer interaction, custom design becomes their way or the highway. From their design plan being wrong and careless (which there is a fee for, non refundable, even if you could never make their design plan work) to things I ordered not being available days before opening, to doing their own specifications (you give them measurements) on cabinets, charging more on the bill then on their web page, changing chair bases not custom ordered, and through it all, not even excuses , but lies and a mafia attitude of robbing your money and saying "too bad, its not what you ordered but you are going to keep it" IDI makes no effort to fix their mistakes, I wish I knew before trusting them that they had a F on the better business bureau site. I learned a hard lesson, not every business out there practices ethically.

This company is awful. I will not ever order from them again and I will not let any salon I know of order from them. Not only have we dealt with horrible customer service, and no call backs, but we ordered a pedicure chair in Feb 2010 and by late April/early May part of it already broke. We ordered two new footbaths for our chair in May and it is now almost November and we still do not have them. We've been charged for the parts and told several times that they were on their way however, after a follow up phone call, Kathy told us that what we ordered was still at the shop. After threatening to get our lawyer involved we started getting treated differently.The company called us directly and said our footbaths were on the way. After a week and a half we called back and asked for a tracking number, they gave us one and when I checked it, it turned out to be the original tracking number for the chair we received in February. We still have not received what we ordered and although we have promises from Kathy herself that our order is on it's way, I highly doubt that this is true. If you want to order salon equiptment, find another company because you will not be satisfied. This company needs to be put out of business and investigated because this is NOT how business is done.

This company is awful. I will not ever order from them again and I will not let any salon I know of order from them. Not only have we dealt with horrible customer service, and no call backs, but we ordered a pedicure chair in Feb 2010 and by late April/early May part of it already broke. We ordered two new footbaths for our chair in May and it is now almost November and we still do not have them. We've been charged for the parts and told several times that they were on their way however, after a follow up phone call, Kathy told us that what we ordered was still at the shop. After threatening to get our lawyer involved we started getting treated differently.The company called us directly and said our footbaths were on the way. I wish I would have found these reviews prior to ordering from this company. Back in August of 2009 I ordered 6 chairs from this company. I received a phone call that the square bases that I paid extra for were discontinued so they suggested a different square base (brushed metal). I actually liked them better than the shiney metal ones I had picked out. That is the only positive thing I could say about this company. Three months after having the chairs 1 of the bases stopped pumping. I called and spoke to Lorraine and she said she would send a replacement right out. After about a month and a half and many more phone calls I finally received the new one. It was the wrong pump. Called again, they requested pictures to be sent of what we needed. Sent them and they said they would send an entire new base. Got it, wrong one again (they sent the shiney one that was supposedly discontinued). Called again and again and again. No one would take my calls kept getting directed to Kathy's voicemail which she never returns. In the mean time another base broke, called again over and over, the receptionist finally called me back to relay a message from Kathy that they could send us 2 round bases but I had to ship back the wrong parts that they sent me first, at my expense. NO WAY! Finally called again to speak to Kathy to let her know that this was unaceptable and she actually answered the phone. She requested more pictures of what we needed so she and Jim could try to find us the correct bases because they no longer can get the square ones because the company they ordered them from "went out of business". That was 3 weeks ago and again no call back. Had a friend call today to see if they had square brushed metal bases cause they still have them on their website. Sure enough she was told that they do have them (not in stock) but they only take 3-4wks to get them in. I cannot believe this company is still in business. At this point I am so mad that I am going to get my lawyer involved. A company should not be allowed to rip people off over and over with no consequences! DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE THE BIGGEST THIEVES I HAVE EVER DELT WITH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also anyone that has had similair situations with this company please let me know if you ever had any resolution or not. If there are enough of us out there we have to get together and make this company pay!

Interstate Design Industries is the best company I have found to do my salon and spa. Jim and Lorraine have gone out of there way to help me everystep of the way. They helped with everything form leasing questions etc. and guided me to make the best selections on equipment. kathy in the office has been so helpful I can't thank her enough!!!

If I could give them a negative amount of stars I would. This company is extremely dishonest. They don't even deserve for me to write about them but I'm doing it only for those who have thought or are thinking about doing business with them. Back in 11.06.2007 I ordered 3 chairs model "nicole". They sent me "modina" model chairs that are similar but not the specific ones I wanted for my salon. As soon as I received the chairs I called to let them know and they accepted to send me the chairs I wanted. Again, they sent me the wrong model but this time it was a cheap imitation. I called once more to let them know and they refused to accept their mistake. A different argument was because I asked that everything be made in the U.S I did NOT want anything made in China. It seemed like they had no regard for what I wanted because they completely ignored my instructions and were dishonest. A separate problem was the bases of the chairs. They were all made in China. After I spoke to them about this they asked me to pay an upgrade for a better quality base that would not be made in China but that was another lie. After the patience I've had with them since 2007 I made a claim with the Better Business Bureau. They gave me feedback on them which was all negative. Unfortunately Better Business Bureau could not help me because this company is not registered with them which is understandable because it seems like this company still in business by making fraudulent business. When Better Business Bureau would get them one the phone the sales person would hang up. Lastly, to all of the beauty industry looking to furnish or buy anything from this company I advise you not to get involved with this company and do not believe their lies. This company looks good on there website but beware. lorraine is very helpfull untill she gets your deposit. After that You will be lucky if they answer the phone or an email. The owners (Jim and Nancy) are worse. I got put on hold for 22 min and jim would not pick up the phone so I hung up and called back and was told he left. I have been weighting for 6 pices for 8 months. All that has happened so far is they took my deposit of $7000. Stay away from Interstate.
