In Short
The long line outside the door might deter a few passers-by, but small families and local couples don't mind waiting outside this bustling breakfast spot for fluffy egg creations. Once inside the Cape Cod-ish cottage, diners sit among lace-covered windows and black-and-white framed photos as they order breakfast favorites such as waffles, croissants and, of course, omelets. Most breakfast plates are served with grilled potatoes, an English muffin and fresh fruit.

Key Points

  • Breakfast offered all day
  • Sandwiches & Salads
  • 31 years in business

The Inside Scoop

  1. When To Go - Daily early bird specials run Monday through Friday from 6am to 7am with menu omelets half-off.
  2. The Extras - While breakfast reigns supreme, lunch items such as sandwiches and salads are also popular with the local business crowd.
  3. Where to Sit - The outdoor patio, dotted with umbrella-covered tables and blossoming plants, is perfect on a cool Santa Monica morning or sunny afternoon.

omelette parlor

This is a great place to come with a buddy and share a great omelette. The portions are huge and the omelets are fluffy and delicious. I love the old pictures of Santa Monica Beach on the walls.

Good...Omelettes!

by Chanel A. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,165

I went here and of course had to have an omelette! The inside decor is pretty cute and homey feeling. There is a patio in the back with large umbrellas at the tables. There is always a huge line at this place, so when we saw the line we got nervous, but we got seated right away! They also have very yummy diner-esque coffee. Large portions.

Poor customer service, ok food

by lk c.

we've been here several times and always leave wondering why there is a waiting line outside. the food is merely ok. the atmosphere is lacking. the customer service is embarassingly poor. although it's only a short walk away, we finally crossed this off our list of places we will patronize.

PROS:
CONS: customer service, food

Great Food, Great Location

by John G. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,186

Located on trendy Main Street, Omelette Parlor is great place for breakfast/brunch. In addtion to the omelettes, the waffles are also especially tasty. The place gets crowded on weekends but there are plenty of cool, quirky stores nearby to pass the time. Only minor drawbacks are the lack of parking and air conditioning. In the summer, the restaurant can get stuffy.

BEST BREAKFAST EVER!

by hppygrl2002

This is the best breakfast place in LA hands down. There are so many different omelettes to chose from, and so many varieties on everything. It's also very moderatley priced. They have freshly squeezed orange juice, and fresh fruit. Great, fast, friendly service once you get seated. If you're lucky, you may also even spot a celebrity or two.

Pros: yummy omelettes

Cons: long wait

Not so hot

by CraniumCrackles

Had the egg, italian sausage, croissant..... But it didn't taste like an eggs, sausage, or a croissant.
I would've mentioned it to the waitress but she never came around. McDonald's breakfast is far
superior to this place.

The dish had water running around on it. I'm not sure if it was from the food or because they didn't dry the dish.

I wasn't pleased at all with the quality or taste of the breakfast, and for 25 bucks for two people, I feel like I was robbed. No. I was robbed. I do not recommend this place. The service wasn't good either.

16 hours after eating there, I'm still thinking about how disgusting it was. I decided to join citysearch just to write a review about how bad this breakfast was. Don't do it!

Pros: The antique decorations were charming

Cons: The food tasted like antique decorations.... Another con, is that this place is still open

Good Filling Breakfast

by rtnla

Went here on a Sunday morning. They offer tables and booths inside, patio seating and a breakfast bar seating. Very clean place, very nice and attentive staff and great food. Had a great omelette that came with a reasonable portion of potatoes and an english muffin. I was full halfway through!

Street parking can be hard but there 's a $7 lot that's $4 after validation and other lots near by. They take cards but prefer cash.

If you haven't been, I really recommend you check it out. You'll be happy that you did.

Pros: Nice service, good tasting food.

Cons: No pancakes on the weekend

Good service, great for a family style breakfast

by tlorenz

Omelette Parlor is a great place to go for flavorful, filling food with a group of people. The morning scene is full of hustle bustle, but my friends and I always join in on the fun. The California Omelette is awesome, and I like to get a side of tomatoes instead of potatoes just because the omelette itself is so heavy. Even though the place is usually full, service is impeccable and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table. Patio seating is perfect on a warm day!

Pros: Breakfast lasts all day long!

Cons: Can be hard to find parking

Rudest hostess and owner I've ever come across.

by justmeandhim

The food may or may not be good, but I'll never know because I've never been treated so badly in a restaurant. I went on a Sunday morning with a group of 9 and 7 of us were seated in less time than we were told we would have to wait. 2 of our group were walking back after finding a place to park (if you,ve been in the area, you can understand that this can take a few minutes). After just a minute the hostess came and told us we would have to leave because our whole party wasn't there and when we questioned that and told her the other two would be there in just a minute or two, she had the owner come over who said we would have to order right then, or leave. We said we would be happy to order if we could look at some menus and he said if we weren't ready to order right then we had to leave. So with everyone within earshot gawking at us, we got up and left. One customer told us not to worry, we weren't missing anything. We walked out and the other 2 people in our group were just walking in, so we went down the street to the World Cafe and had a great meal with great service. By the way, after all that some of the people in our group wanted a drink and the bartender at World Cafe was very good, too.

Favorite Brunch in Santa Monica

by lifeserial

One of my closest friends lives in Santa Monica. She's a total pain to get out of bed, so I often get up earlier and make the drive west from WeHo on weekend mornings so that we can still see each other and get some grub. Omelette Parlor is where we go. There's always a crowd outside waiting, but I don't think we've ever waited more than 15 minutes. That's good because we need our COFFEE! The inside is cute and pretty mom-and-pop; I recommend the back patio. Outdoor dining is where it's at. Their french toast is wonderful. I've never been dissatisfied with a meal. It's a nice lil place, busy but not an L.A. scene. Worth the trek from wherever. "GET OUT OF BED, CLAIRE! WE'RE GOIN' TO THE OMELETTE PARLOR!"

Pros: French Toast, Coffee

Cons: Parking

the food is great but so is the atmosphere

by bluto138

Like most people I enjoy going down the street for breakfast on a sat or sunday morning. I usually head out a little later then most so I miss the line and crowd waiting to sit and get their food. They do close semi early so dont plan n getting there after 1:30 and eating.. The inside is decorated nicely with a sunny atmosphere with a great breakfast vibe. Dont feel like sitting inside? Head on out to the back patio where its green, sunny, and contrasting with the brickwork just plain pleasant. The food is great with pretty large omelets, waffles, and sandwiches. I go during the week when they serve pancakes, not available on weekends due to grill space. This always seemed odd to me.. There are also debates over price vs portion here. I say its fair, some friends say its expensive. Try its once yourself and see. I recommend the pasta salad as a side also. I am in love with them!

Pros: good food, good people, great area!

Cons: long lines sometimes while yo uwait for a seat.

Best Omelette

by m_raven415

With a name like Omelette Parlor, the place definitely lives up to its name. I've been here twice, once on a Sunday morning while the other on a Friday morning. Both times, we were seated promptly. Both times were after a night of drinking on Main Street. The food is great to cure your hangovers. I love to sit in the patio in the back. You don't have to worry if it is too cold b/c they have outdoor heaters. The service is fast and very friendly. Once you find your spot, the water will come over almost immediately asking if you want coffee or orange juice (freshly squeezed). The omelette menu is huge and you can make your own omelette if you so desired. The portions are huge. The omelette comes out so fluffy. This is by far one of the best breakfast place to go to. I can't wait for another early morning at Omelette Parlor. Just so you know, outside in the patio there are pigeons that would go for foods left on the table, so watch out.

Pros: Omelette, outdoor patio, fast friendly service

Cons: birds

Best Breakfast in Orange County

by ianaber

We read reviews of this breakfast speciality restaurant before we went and were not dissapointed. The omelets are just about perfect. The atmosphere of an old world restaurant is just great and there was not much wait. Get there early on a Sunday to get seated fast though.

Omelets are served with fruit an English muffin and a huge helping of breakfast potatoes. Light and fluffy, you won't find a better omelet anywhere. Tons of food and great service in an old world atmosphere. What could be better? We will definitely be back!

Pros: Atmophere and omelets to die for.

Cons: Uncomfortable seating and a little cramped.

Over-rated but decent

by museum_flavor

Yeah, the omelettes are tasty and they are huge, but considering how many places in the LA area offer amazing omelettes, I'm fairly underwhelmed by this particular place and astounded by the long lines it generates. The best and most unique thing the Omelette Parlor has to offer is the apple butter that comes along with the whole wheat nut English muffins. That's pretty good stuff.

Pros: apple butter, friendly service, interesting decor if you're into Santa Monica history

Cons: long waits, over-rated

Awesome breakfast!

by dmenkes

I've been here a few times and loved it! Their flapjacks are thick and fluffy, their omelettes are huge, their French toast excellent, and their eggs Benedict were very tasty. This place gets CROWDED on Saturday/Sunday mornings so I recommend calling ahead or even getting your food to go and walking down to the beach and sitting at a picnic table there so you can watch the ocean and passers-by.

Cons: limited parking

The owner can kiss my behind!!!

by koreangodfather

On my second trip to Omellette Parlor I went with a buddy of mine. I don't remember what I ordered but I remember regretting not getting an omelet. Anyway my buddy orders the same dish every time he's here and he's been here many times. It's some breakfast special that comes with fruit. So our food arrives and one of my buddy's oranges looks like it's been chewed on. You know how you chew on a slice of lemon when you do a tequila shot. That's what the sliced orange looked like!!! We complained with our waiter. He came back and said the owner believes it was caused by one of their dull knives. The waiter even thought it looked liked someone had chewed on it. So we get the owner to come over and rudely in our face he says, "I'm very offended that you would accuse me of sending you half eaten food. What kind of restaurant do you think I own. If you don't like it here, you can get up and leave." And then he walked away.

I can't believe he's still in business with that kind of customer service. C'mon people, the food is not that good to be giving money to an evil anarchist .

I'm giving a 1 cause their coffee is not bad.

Pros: coffee

Cons: owner

Solid Breakfasts

by jofutt

This restaurant offers over a dozen specialty omelettes and will honor your specs with gusto. Reasonably priced for Main Street. Lovely dining al fresco in the back. I go here with friends and training partners after ocean swims just down the block.

Great breakfast, service OK

by chains007

True to it's name, the omelettes here are really good. Big and fluffy - and the ingredients all taste fresh. The apple butter and english muffins are a perfect compliment to the breakfast plates. The interior of the restaurant is country-like and there's a good outside patio area too. But be careful when eating outside, birds are hanging out in the trees above.

Cozy Atmosphere.. A mixed review

by psboston7

The booths are tiny so you may want to ask for a table. Took no time for us to be seated & for our server to take our order, but it took a while for us to get our food. The food was good and the portions were large but everything had a fantastic taste. Would definately try again. I would have expected them to offer more choices of Omelette fillings/toppings.

Pros: Tasty Food, Quaint Decor

Cons: Takes to long 4 Food, Non-attentive Service, Limited menu options

The Customer is Always Right

by ween33

Haven't we all heard the phrase "the customer is always right"? Well, apparently that phrase has been tossed out the window at the Omelette Parlor. I was treated absolutely horribly when I disliked my meal at which point the owner decided he needed to charge me for both meals.
Common restuarant etiquette- give the customer a chance to try something else right? Not here. After my disappointing and insulting experience I insist you try some place else if you want a "pleasant dining experience". This place will only ruin a beautiful Sunday.

Cons: Rude, Awful Customer Servic, Bad food

Rude Owner and Bad Service

by Desiree

My past experinces at the Omelette Parlor have never been pleasant. Those times that I have been there, the service was very slow and unfriendly. My most recent experience I was unsatificed with the meal. I confronted my server and they quickly brought over the owner. The owner was very rude and refused to trade my meal for another. This type of customer service is unacceptable. I am a local of the area and have found other breakfast places that not only serve better food but also have exeptional customer service.

Cons: Terrible Service, Rude Owner, Unfriendly Enviroment

Tasty, indeed.

by Eshta

I was in town for a wedding and our hotel valet recommended this place. It was a bit of a walk from where we were staying but it was worth it. (Had to walk off all that food anyway) Big portions, pretty quick and friendly service, good coffee and nice atmosphere. I had the lox scramble and it was delicious. Boyfriend had the eggs benedict and that was good as well. The only thing I didn't care for was the potatoes. They were nothing to get exited over simply because they did not spice them up at all. They were basically just fried potatoes. Kinda boring. Everything else was good, though.

Freakin' Fantastic Breakfast

by alta99

I am a breakfast/brunch lover - and this place is definitely the best place in LA for it! The food is plentiful (i.e. you won't eat again for the rest of the day), the service is speedy (particularly by LA standards), and its affordable, and its only a wee bit from the beach. Don't be scared away by long lines out front - they speed through the list faster than you'd expect.

Go for it!!!

by Scridley68

The omelette parlor offers an excellent breakfast with a perfect morning atmosphere. What impresses me most about the OP is their ability to seat people quickly even when crowded. It's really a very big restaurant tucked into a smallish setting. If in Venice looking for killer brekkie, OP is your place.

the ONLY place for breakfast

by ratfink

The Omelette Parlor has been around for what seems like forever. And that's also about how long you'll wait in line of on a Sunday morning. This place is so popular, but its no wonder with the amount of food they pile on. And the prices aren't anything to quibble over either. There's a daily special (Sat/Sun's Huevos are superb) and the OP potatoes are worth every greasy calorie.

The best deal: the early morning weekday omelettes that go for half price. If you're up early (or maybe it's real late for you) stop by and grab an omelette for about the cost of a latte.

Pros: price, quantity, quality

Cons: lines, popularity, trendy people
