Wes Anderson is the best bartender on the east side. Great drinks and service every time.

Sorry, the place looks nice, the food isn't terrible, but it's ridiculously overpriced and after two visits, we have had consistently bad service. To start, I NEVER tip less that 20%. It would take a terrible experience to make me tip less

don't mind spending money for a good meal, but what a waste of $100. mediocre food (altho the meatloaf was good) disinterested (and largely unavailable) service and the dining room smelled like cigarettes.... what's that about ? the

This place is HORRIBLE. The crowd is loud and drunk, and the food is REALLY bad. My friend got sick from it. I do not recommend it at all.

Cons: Loud with bad food

One of my good friends knows the owner and most of the bartenders which is probably why we got such great service. But it seemed less pretentious than some other LA spots. The vibe is great, with long wooden bar as the focal point. The patio is great for warm nights. Have the goat cheese arugula salad.

I want to love Edendale. I've been there at least a half a dozen times. It has a great vibe and SHOULD be a Silver Lake gem. Unfortunately, the food is average AT BEST, the service is mediocre, and it is way, way over

Pros: Ambience

Cons: Food, wine, Bartenders focused more on glass polishing than serving drinks

This place is a hidden gem. I live not too far away and a friend asked me to meet her there. "Mixville"? I was like, what kind of name is that? It sounded creepy but when I saw the place I was like "oh yeah, I get it." It's kind of a random place that's kind of cool. The "Mix" part has to do with an old movie star, not "drop your keys in the bowl at the end of the bar." (Though there's a pretty cute crowd...). We got there at 7 because we were meeting friends later. Well, of course, they called and we told them to meet us there, and four hours and some margaritas later, that's where we stayed. The crowd was pretty fluid and people were going outside to the back garden and using this old photobooth. The vaiet guys were super sweet, the bartenders were pros. Waitress hotties. The best thing by far -- the freakin' burgers. Sorry to have "food" outrank "people" but we were starving and they were GOOD. Going back.

This is one of my very favorite spots in LA. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting, I love the tin ceiling and dark wood, and the crowd is so diverse and chill. The old school drink menu (think Manhattans and gimlets) makes you feel like you've arrived at a classy joint. As for the food- don't even get me started on the BLT Salad. Amazing. I could eat it every day. The only area where this place falls short is the bartenders. Holy attitudes. One was so busy (with a non crowded bar) that when we ordered a bottle of wine he slammed the glasses down, sloppily opened the bottle, and as an afterthought he filled each glass to the very top with wine and walked away. Another night the bartender threw my tab at me and said "I'm heading out, so I'm gonna close you out". This was hours before the bar closed, it was just the end of his shift! Asking if we wanted another round wouldn't have hurt his tip. As much as I love the atmosphere at this bar I could easily fall in love with another place that doesn't supply obnoxious bartenders with their booze.

Pros: Great music, chill vibe

Cons: Bartenders.

This place has gone so far downhill it doesn't seem possible to bring it back. The bartenders seem to be trying but don't look like they're having a good time and the place reeks of psychic suffering and a feeling like it's time to abandon the ship before it goes even more horribly wrong.

This used to be my favorite neighborhood bar, but now several of the good old bartenders have left, and they just raised their drink prices a full $2. I used to love coming here because it was such a good value, but I feel like it's inching up to Hollywood prices now. It's still chill in vibe though, which is nice. I like the patio seating and I always run into other Silver Lakers here. Fun photobooth in back too!

My wife and I used to live around the corner from this bar and it was our FAVORITE place to take friends for a drink, order appetizers, and people-watch. We moved up north a year ago and recently returned...what a difference! There was no music, the bar was practically empty, and our group was very uncomfortable sitting at the bar--we were stared at the whole time by a loud group of diners in the other room! Where did the social scene go? Oh well, the drinks were still good and we have a new favorite hangout up north. But we miss the old Silver Lake!

My wife and I came in for drinks after hearing about it from a friend. First of all - the valet is NOT free - but $4.50 on Saturday (which is still better than wasting time searching for free parking). The Bar/Restaurant has some great patios/outdoor seating which is more conducent to socializing. Truely a great mix of all types, or I should say of "laid back" types - which is refreshing. The music inside was inaudiable (maybe it was just where I was sitting?). The bar and patios were pretty crowded with a lively group that probably got better as the night went on. And lastly (a pet peeve of mine), why or why don't they chill the glasses when one serves beer? Overall a very good experience...

We love this bar! Every time we go, the bartenders are friendly and get us our drinks quickly. They all make a damn fine martini and the wine and beer selection is good. Drink prices are more reasonable than other 'trendy' silverlake spots. And we always end up in conversation with some of the other customers. Everyone is in a good mood and just out to have a good time. They key is to go after 10pm. Street parking is easier and the dinner crowd has moved on. I highly recommend this place.

Full disclosure: I live near this place, which makes it all the better because who cares about parking? (though they have valet). This place signifies the new Silver Lake - a little nicer, still not pretentious, still cool & laid back, but you don't need tattoos or ripped clothes to feel like you fit in. They've turned a fire station truck bay into simply a grand-but-inviting space. I don't frequently just go to a bar for a drink, but I make special trips to this one. And I don't know what the 'cool/unfriendly people' comments are about - this is a place to get a drink with a friend, and everyone is friendly while giving you your space. And ask for George at the bar - the City's best barkeep!

The best thing about Mixville is the interior lighting, which has not been captured in the photo: The bar is fairly low light with long vertical plastic panels that are lit from behind...and are orange. It's a remarkable ambience. The drinks are uniformly well-made; sometimes exceptional. But the joint is crowded -- the spillover section in the back is NOT comfortable or "cool" -- and the crowd is not a particularly friendly one. Drinking on the patio is okay if the sun is down and the weather's cool, but the traffic noise is continual.

I was so eager to try this neighborhood bar, but was disappointed on my visit. The ambiance is great in the refurbished the old firestation, but i was not impressed w/ the service or crowd. With all the good seats taken at the bar, we were exhiled to the end of the bar in order to squeeze in and get a drink. It took us a few trys in order to find a seat at all. The crowd was too snooty for my taste and not very exciting.

This place is so not Silver Lake. It's more dressy and much nicer than any other bar on this side of the hill. I'm not one to visit the same places over and over again, but I've been here at least 4 or 5 times since it first opened. And I plan on going back more. Order a glass of red wine and chill out on the patio. The food is OK, nothing special. Save your money and eat at Stella or Hillmont instead.
