5 Stars: Excellent restaurant with a great, unique atmosphere (by Anne R.)

Sundance is definitely the place to go if you are in the mood for a great steak dinner in an elegant, clubby atmosphere. Everything from the seating, to menu selections, to our amazing waiter, made the experience a very good and memorable one. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. He came by to let us know that one of our items was running a few minutes behind and it everything came shortly after provided us with the update (instead of leaving us to wonder). Also, we had one member of our party that was a vegan, and they made sure that he was well taken care of and had plenty of options amid a sea of carnivorous delights. We splurged and had the appetizer platter (awesome!), a variety of the steaks (all done to perfection), a pasta option for our vegan (he said it was great), and desserts too (all so good, even though we were stuffed). A great experience -- highly recommend!

3 Stars: Good food, but not worth the price (by Ezra C.)

I've only had the Prime Rib here, but I've had it three times now and had the same reaction each time: The food is certainly delicious, but it isn't worth the $35+ that it costs. The price is similar as you'd find at somewhere like Lawry's but the prime rib at Sundance doesn't quite meet what you can find elsewhere.

4 Stars: When You Really Want Beef (by Roger V.)

Sundance is the place to go when you are looking to have a nice piece of beef in a "club atmopsphere" and in this particular restaurant with a Stanford Theme. I have been here many times and find every item to be good but not excellent. The service has always been great and I find it a good place to have a conversation as the tables are somewhat private. Nice place to take mom and dad when they come from out-of -town.

PROS: great atmosphere
CONS: pricey

5 Stars: Unbelievable Food (by Paul C.)

Yes, the Sundance Mining Company is a very expensive restaurant, but it is a *good* expensive restaurant. The steak I had was succulent, flavorful, and done to perfection. The sides were tasty but not overpowering; the focus of the meal was definitely the steak.

The service was excellent, our waiter was friendly, insightful, and knew his wines. He was very willing to make substitutions on the entrees (his suggestion, not ours!) and returned to our table often to make sure we were full up on water and the like.

This is not a family restaurant, this is a classy establishment, and while very expensive, worth every dime.

PROS: Exquisite beef dishes, fine wine selection, great staff.
CONS: Expensive, gets very full/busy.
