This is best cheap fast food sushi. Everything is 2.50 but really good and fresh. They used to have fresh plates go around the bar but i guess its just pictures now. The service is fast and friendly. My fav is the volcano roll. Its a cali roll with dynamite sauce and the scallop rolls are good too. The only con is that the place is small so its usually crowded. If you dont like to get your own water and tea refills then this place isnt for you otherwise go!!! This is a must eat

The best sushi place! It is very affordable and the quality of sushi is great. Everything on the menu is $2.75. The seating, you sit at the sushi bar, pencil down what rolls you want and the chef makes it right there in front of you. Sushi on a budget is the greatest thing ever! FYI cash only!

Everyone here is crazy. Listen, you don't go to sushi mac for real sushi. Its really tasty stuff, its not of incredibly fresh quality, but it is very addictive. I mean, what do you expect for 2.75 a plate. All the people who are bashing sushi mac for having bad quality sushi obviously don't understand what Sushi Mac is trying to provide. They give their customers a great environment with tasty food that resembles something much more expensive. I highly recoomend roll #35, Spicy tuna with shrimp tempura and spicy mayo on top.

It was good. I don't like mayo but the spicy mayo was off the hook! I liked the overall taste of the sushi but the place my bf and I usually go to has a fresher taste. The price was right and I might go back for a quickie from time to time.can't wait to try Daichan Kaiten nest week.

Sure it's cheap - they even do the math for you with a handy chart of how much X number of plates at $2.75 dishes cost you. But the price you'll pay later as the low grade fish hits your stomach will be much higher. i don't know what everyone could be thinking to give this place such high marks. Clearly they've never tasted quality fish.

Yes, it only cost $2.75 per plate, but it's GROSS. The rice is hard (yech) as though it's been left out for days, and the fish tastes really fishy and smells like, well old fish. After eating here we actually had to make a beeline for ice cream just to get the terrible taste out of our mouths. But the aftertaste is pretty persistent, so you'll probably need to floss, brush, and gargle when you get home. Honestly, it is not only the worst sushi I've ever had, but quite possibly the worst meal I've ever had at a restaurant. Send your enemies here.

I have gone their over the last 7 years on a somewhat regular basis when I am in the mood for a quick cheap meal. The sushi is OKAY at best but not horrid. I have had only 2 bad experiences and both with the same sushi chef. He is rude, dumb & lacks skill to the art of sushi. He burnt my tempura shrimp on one occasion and overcooked my edamame on another (which he said he microwaved them), upon my request for a new replacement dish he argued with me and refused to replace, even though he knows I am a regular.I paid the bill but with no tip! Probably won't go back anymore since I found revolving sushi on Ventura Blvd @ Louis in Encino, they give you every 5th plate free. Bonus- they also serve wine and beer. Well, SUSHI MAC it was nice knowing you but thanks to your rude sushi chef you lost a regular customer forever! Penny wise & pound foolish.

Try them with Ponzu sauce or the Orange Sauce. at 2.75 it is a bargain. Parking may be a hassle, but SUSHI MAC IS WORTH THE WAIT.

I've read most of the previews for this place & thought to myself... these people are out of their friggin minds!!! GOOD SUSHI???

First of all... the price is now $2.75 a plate, but that's neither here nor there. Here's my beef - I'm not a picky eater at all, and can't really tell the difference between alright sushi and fabulous sushi... but after eating at this place, I now know what HORRIBLE sushi tastes like. Their tempura rolls are cold b/c they were fried like 20 minutes before you even placed your order... which means by the time it gets to you, it's cold, soggy battered shrimp. The sushi rice is hard, like if you left a bowl of rice in the fridge uncovered for a day. Their answer to everything is spicy mayo... and get this... they have edamame already separated in individual bowls, ready for the moment you order it! Who knows how long it's been sitting there. Disgusting.

Only people who don't have a clue about sushi would like this place.

MY SUGGESTION FOR DECENT CHEAP SUSHI: Daichan Kaiten. It's across the street, in the Olympic Collection center, upper level. It's a revolving sushi bar ($2 per plate). Quality is better, cost is cheaper, & there's more variety. And way better atmosphere.

Great place for fast (most of the time) and cheap sushi! Each plate is $2.50, including tax. Great to grab dinner. Nothing fancy, no table, just a bar, but for the price, the quality is pretty good and if you like sushi, you will be back! Parking can be very difficult (tiny, crowded parking lot).

PROS: Cheap!
CONS: Not fancy, difficult parking

...pound for pound one of the best Sushi places in town...but few people eat Sushi by the pound, or for a cheap meal...

SIGN UP - when you first get there, there is a waiting list on the wall, find it and sign up...it took forever for us to be seated and a couple got down before us because they signed up and we didn't...

The food is fine, but the bad atmosphere, limited choices make it a place to eat, not a place to eat out...I think I'll do take out there, or off peak time meals...but it's not a great overall experience.

I was introduced to Sushi Mac my first week in LA and have been going back weekly ever since. Cheap, tasty and easy. Try the Spicy Dynamite Mac Roll..and the spicy mayo they serve as an alternative to wasabi is addictive!!! Love it here and it is the best place to drop in for easy Sushi and only spend 12ish dollars. The plates did go up to $2.75 each- but still unbeatable for taste and value.

I love this place. Have been going here for almost 7 years and it never disappoints. Absolutely the best value for sushi in LA. Only $2.50 a plate for every kind of sushi in the house and that includes taxes. Hard to beat that. Spicy tuna is amazing. Handrolls are available, just ask. VERY fast service -- not sure what the other reviewer is talking about. They give you your plates in under 3 mins.

Bring cash with you. No credit cards accepted here. Also, this is the original and the best one out of their 3 locations.

Parking is small and no room when it's busy since it's on a plaza. I recommend parking at Old Navy across the street. They validate for 1.5 hrs for free.

Great little spot.

Took a while to get service, but everyone was friendly. In fact, overall... the service was a bit slow, but to their defense, it was very busy when we were there.

Prices are very fair and the food is excellent. Everything tasted fresh and yummy.

I'd say don't go if you're in a hurry, but that could have just been that particular night. Otherwise, put it on your list of places to visit.

You can't beat the price of $2.50 (iincludes tax) per plate!!! The computer generated signs are an eye-sore, but amusing to read store rules: No outside food or beverages, self-serve drinks (free water & tea), and loud music. The sushi chef was lighting fast and I noticed it was because the sushi was pre-cut. The quality is very good and they have a wide selection. The cuts are slightly smaller, but for the price you can't complain. I would recommend this place for a quick sushi fix, not for leisurely dining where you would expect service and a smile.

The rolls R pretty good & cheap! $2.50 a plate! Free water & tea. The spicy rolls R da best. I <3 da tempura roll! Seating is bar-style so you face da chefs. It gets crammed & da place can use a little cleaning.

Come to this tiny place @ any nite & B sure 2 wait because theres not a lot of seats. This place gets LOUD! The parking is a pain & they're extra compact. My suggestion is 2 park @ the Beverly Connection across da street where u can get 1 & 30 mins free validation. (go 2 Old Navys & find the validation box, no need 2 buy anything!)

Important: Bring CASH! there's an ATM in the store. Service fee is $2 =(

Arrive early on Saturday nights for prompt seating, or you'll have to wait your place in line. Very fast service, cheap rolls, and a friendly staff are definitely a plus here. Drinks are self-serve, and include free hot tea and water, or $1 iced tea and sodas.

The sushi itself was of slightly above average quality, with some of the fish a little fatty, and not quite up to the par of numerous other sushi places I've been to, but I suppose you get what you pay for. The choice of rolls is excellent, however, with plenty of variety and flavor to choose from. Note, if you're looking for anothing other than sushi, this place doesn't have it. It's 100% sushi, which is what I prefer anyway.

I'd recommend it as a casual place to go eat. It's loud, quick, and cheap, with decent food.

The food here is incredibly cheap; every plate is 2.50 including tax. Hot tea is self serve and free of charge. Seats surround a rotating conveyor belt of condiments and menu desctiptions, with the friendly sushi chefs at the center. The atmosphere is casual at best, with loud 80s music playing and little in the way of decor. It has it's own charm precisely for that reason.

The food is just about average, but when you consider the price, it's more than worth it for the frugal gourmet. The fish is fresh enough, and their vegetarian selection is decent (be sure to write in avocado rolls or kappa maki yourself - it's not on the menu). There's often a waiting list, but you don't usually have to wait more than 15 minutes for a spot.

Good enough for my money!
