Excellent Service, Extremely Honest

by Chris H.

Frankly, I'm impressed. I was in San Diego on a family vacation and brought my laptop with me so that I could continue to work and touch bases with clients. After one day, my laptop physically died and I was unable to figure out why it was broken. After receiving a ridiculous quote of $270 to fix the DC Outlet (alone) by Laptops Plus, a 3 store chain in San Diego, I found Hi-Tech Computer's ad in the Computor Edge magazine.

The friendly, helpful, enthusiastic service at Hi-Tech Computers is excellent and was great after the lazy and seemingly disinterested service offered by Laptops Plus.

Laptops Plus have an impressive inventory on parts and are the fastest place to go if you are willing to pay the high prices and deal with their attitude. If you want an honest group of people to work on physical repairs to a laptop (even down to soldiering and replacing transistors / resistors / etc.), I would recommend Hi-Tech.

Furthurmore, the two comments on this site that complain about a small $40 fee for diagnostics or what not are silly. If you ask a professional for their time, they will charge you. The service should be worthwhile if you went there in the first place.

My laptop had more problems than just the DC Outlet, and Hi-Tech is beating Laptop Plus' price on fixing the DC, adding a secondary fan, and replacing my AC/DC Adaptor as well as spending countless hours troubleshooting my system. They are very patient and have excellent communication.

That's my 50c. I'm recommending them to anyone in the future who needs a dedicated team to work on their laptop and are willing to give them ample time to try everything. If you want a quick fix and don't mind the money - sure, go to Laptops Plus. If they can't fix it, take it to Hi-Tech who will go the extra mile.

Pricy Store! Good Service

by Phillip L. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,264

This place specializes in computer/laptop repair. They know what they're doing and obviously has been doing it for quite a while. Their products can get a bit pricy as well as their service. I came in with a dead hard drive, and they charged me 20 bucks just to run tests to make sure it crashed. If you're willing to pay the extra, i would recommend buying parts elsewhere and if you can't install it, take it here.

Helpful small store

by Hung N. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,311

Hi Tech Computers isn't exactly the latest in the computer biz or anything, but they do a good job with what they do, computer repair. I once had a problem that I couldn't solve myself and took it to them, and they went through everything with me. They offer some awesome service and also sell some computer parts as well, for those who are into building things themselves. The only problem is the pricing, I mean, why should I pay forty bucks if it isn't even broken?
