Ymca

This is a great YMCA. Its really convenient to go to if you work in the outer-downtown area or civic center area it is in the tenderloin however, if you go there during the day its not really an issue. I like the range of equipment they have and the terms of membership I can usually stop in the middle of the day and hit a few of the machines. There is usually no waiting for the most popular machines so that makes my workout even better. Parking as always is a challenge in the civic center area so I tend to just walk their from work. They have great shower facilities and the equipment is pretty new and maintained regularly. Would highly recommend if you work in the civic center area.

Good facilities, friendly staff. And computerized progress monitoring system on much of their equipment. Their mission is broader than fitness, so you won't find hidden fees when you sign up, and there's no long term commitment. Only downside is that this location is in the Tenderloin, so it's not someplace I'd send the kids to alone.
