Best all-around pub

by Arwen H.

Open for breakfast. Try their English breakfast and their crumpets with lemon curd. Slow, comfortable service all morning. Be prepared to wait for service most times. They've got a cheese plate with vegetables and pickle that's a dinner for one, or a pick-and-talk-for-hours plate for two.

Lucky Baldwins - The Real Thing!

by B.J. E. | insider Insider | Rank: 25,652

Next best thing to being in Britain. Lucky Baldwins has got the local pub experience down. Great beers on tap - wonderful fish and chips, Soccer on the TV, outside and indside seating. Perfect to hang out on your own or get together with pals. It's in Old Town Pasadena but not a part of the zoo atmosphere.
Owner David Farnsworth holds special events throughout the year including his now famous yearly Belgian Beer Blast. Guess what - there's a second one opening in Sierra Madre Village!

PROS: Great Beer & Great Atmosphere
CONS: Not so easy to find- maybe thats a pro!

Great Location, Great Atmosphere

I've lived and grown up in the San Marino, Pasadena area and Old Town is one of my favorite places to be. Great diversity of beer selections, but don't eat the food.

PROS: Great beer
CONS: Bad food

sweet deal

This quaint bar is a great place to hang out with friends. Keep in mind that it's an Irish pub and that mixed drinks are MIA.

This place is a low key, easy to be place to grab a beer with some friends. They have a great Guniness on tap...I like the cider. You can grab food - its decent for pub food. Its old town so good luck with the parking on a weekend...but its worth it.

I've only been here once, but it's a great bar if you're looking for a fun atmosphere to sit back and drink with friends. It's got a neat outside patio with heat lamps that is perfect for pulling some tables together and chatting with friends. They've also got a food menu if you've got the munchies. The only downfall to the outside patio is that people smoke there, but if you don't mind the smoke then it's a great little place conveniently located near a large parking lot.

There are four things you need to do here in order to have the complete Lucky Baldwins experience. Eat the fish and chips. Drink only English beer. Watch a football match at 10 am. Act like a football hooligan and taunt opposing fans/drinkers.

Acceptable food, relatively cheap drinks. It's the kind of place you go with coworkers because nobody wants to walk real far, and that dude with the long hair has to finish up some weird program and can't take more than 45 minutes. But then you end up spending most of the afternoon there getting drunk.

UK-like service right here in America!

Awesome - all the time. Great for watching a football match, having a casual drink or British or Irish breakfast. Expect UK-like service though.

Big selection of beer, they even have several Norwegian beers. You have to sit outside though, as it smells like puke inside. I guess it's just dried beer, but I can't stand that smell...

Probably the best pub in Old Town Pasadena. Try the Belgian Lambic ales. Fantastic beer selection. Haven't had much of their pub food. Love the atmosphere. Excellent location.

This is by far my favorite pub in LA. They have the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. Also, they have the largest selection of Belgian ales you will find outside of Belgium!

The best bar in Old Town. Kinda homey, in a British pub style, excellent jukebox, excellent selection of beer, and, best of all, nice and relaxed. No one puts on airs here.

If you like a hoe in the wall with good beer, this is the place. The smell of stale beer goes away after you've been in there for 10 minutes.
