Bistro 400

The best food I've ever had. I loved spices, salts, & flavors! The food is very New Orleans. When using our Entertainment Book discount, the owner didn't want to take it because it was a weekend. The book stated that the discount was good ANYTIME. But he insisted we take the issue up with the EB people because they made a mistake. I couldn't believe he was treating us so rudely. There were no customers there that were dining, only drinking. After arguing, he asks what do we want, and we told him to give us the discount we were expecting. So he stomps off and yells at us that he's adding 18% for the tip. Which he forgot to do. The service was excellent & we felt sorry for our waiter. We ended up giving him a 40% tip. If you use your entertainment book B1F1F, you're safest doing it on a weekday, DINNER only. I want to go back but I'm afraid of the rude owner. Such a shame that he has such an unprofessional attitude. He's cocky and mean! There are other restaurants with good food too pal. It's not like there was a waiting list. The waiter even confided in us that the same scenario happened 7x before! You could tell that the waiter was afraid of his boss. Poor guy. Oh yeah, and if you want to order a side salad with your dinner, be prepared to pay $8 for it. LOL! This guy thinks he's in Beverly Hills! The dinner prices are higher than most places. I think my shrimp dinner was about $22, but with the entertainment book, it wasn't so bad. The food WAS great and I would pay that even without the EB. The bread was fabulous too. So my advice is....dine here at your own risk. The neighborhood is in downtown Santa Ana, so you can expect to see people of all types which makes it interesting when dining on their patio...though smokers ruin the atmosphere outside if you're a non-smoker.

PROS: THE BEST MEAL I'VE EVER HAD!
CONS: THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD!
